VRAM Limit in AE vs System available VRAM

New Here ,

Hi, I'm running into an issue with After Effects trying to render with GPU acceleration on, but it errors on one particular transition frame. It gives me the following error:

"GPU Effects Error

After effects is unable to render GPU-enabled effects on this frame becuae the GPU frame size has exceeded the 4GB internal limit."

I have a GeForce RTX 3090 and it says I have 24, 576MB of dedicated Video Memory. Is this a program restriction or is there a setting I need to adjust to make use of the full VRAM?

AE Version 24.0.3

Windows 11 Pro Version 23H2, OS build 22631.2715

It's a limit in AE. I would expect your comp size or the effects trying to process your comp are needing to use too much memory to process the frame. You may need to pre-render some of the frame with some effects enabled if you can't reduce resolution.
