Out of curiosity, is Boris FX or Red Giant more widely used in post production work?

I know they each have strengths, but just a general question

This is a broad question.  There are tons of plugins but Boris and RG definitely produce some popular plugins.  I use from both myself.

skyvault,

More of a discussion than a direct how to or troubleshooting question. Group, let us know what plug-ins you are using.

I routinely use the keying plugins from both Boris and RG and the Trapcode suite for RG has some amazing capability.

Most popular and most widely used plugin by far is Trapcode Particular. After That everything depends on what kind of work people are doing:
- if you more work with colouring/grading - MB Looks
- if you are into keying - Primatte Keyer

- for character animating - (more scripts than pugins) Duik, Rubber Hose, Joysticks ‘n Sliders, Puppet Tools 3,

- for 3D texts/motion graphics - Element 3D

and the list can go on.

I use Element 3D like it's going out of style.  One of my favorite plugins and just recently found a good workflow from E3D to 3D printer slicing software for 3D Printing.

Ha! Particular IS awesome. I love the presets and browser they give you to show you what's possible.

Cool side story regarding Particular: when I went back to Pixar to do pre-viz for "WALLE," I had to use Particular for dust storms, smoke, and a lot more. It was brand new back then and it blew my mind. Rather hard to control at first, but after you get the hang of it, you learn its versatility and variety of uses. I can recommend it.

Kevin
