Whip Pan

Hi, 

Im currently taking a college course on AE and my teacher wants me to make a whip pan motion on a JPG image. There is only one image and everywhere else i look it shows how to transiton between 2. 

Could you all help me figure out how i can do the whip pan motion?

Premiere has a whip transition which will do this to 2 instances of the same image. I just checked.

A whip pan is just a state-based transition and in AE it's achieved using simple transform animation and effects like Directional Blur on the "From" image. You add two images/ two instances of the same image to the comp with one acting as the start and the other and then move one of them out of the way with position animation while at the same time animating parameters of the blur effect to get fake trails (if so desired) and fading out the image with opacity animation.
