Why does my AE keep crashing?

New Here ,
Aug 25, 2025 Aug 25, 2025

I now open the project and it crashes after a while. Sometimes it crashes directly. My driver is the latest version, and AE is also the latest version. I don’t know what the problem is, so I can only come here for help.

I have tried uninstalling, restarting, installing other versions, resetting preferences, changing drivers, and resetting the system.I've tried this method more than once, and it doesn't work.

Hi Karl,

Sorry to hear about the crash. Is this happening with a specific project? If so, can you try importing the project into a new project instead of opening it? If it's happening with multiple projects, try running After Effects in Safe Mode. If nothing works, please share the log file from your machine. Here's how you can collect the log file:

1. Start AE
2. Help Menu > Enable Logging
3. Restart AE
4. Replicate the issue.
5. Help Menu > Reveal Logging Files...
6. Find the "After Effects Log.txt" file and copy/paste the content back to this forum thread.

The .dmp file you shared sometimes doesn't provide much information. Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,
Nishu

Thanks for sharing the logs. I'll get them checked. In the meantime, would you mind testing whether it's happening on a specific project or all of them? Also, what are your system specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM, OS version)?

Thanks,
Nishu

I tried to rebuild the project and turned on safe mode, but it still crashed. This shows that it should not be caused by a specific project.

CPU  13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900HX (2.20 GHz)

thanks for your help

Thanks for the details. I shared them with the product team. Unfortunately, the .dmp file and the log files don't point to anything specific. Do you mind sharing a few more details? How often does the crash occur? Does it happen every time you try to work, or is it random? Is there a specific action/command that triggers the crash? When the crash occurs, do you get the crash reporter dialog? If so, do you fill it out with your email address? Your email address associated with the forum account doesn't have any crash-related data. Do you mind sharing your email ID associated with your Adobe account via DM so that we can check if we have any crash-related information?

Here to help.

Thanks,
Nishu

Thank you for your reply. The frequency of the crash is about this: now I can't stay in the AE project for more than 2 minutes. It will crash after a while. I have lost all means and am ready to reinstall the system again. I have sent an email, but not to this email address. You can check it out: [personal information removed by moderator]. Because it crashes too many times, I am powerless to save the situation. The rest can only rely on you. I have spent too much time on this. Thank you again for your help.

It will be helpful to know what third-party plugins you currently have installed. To do that, please go to the menu bar at the top, select Effect > Manage Effect > ensure that the "Only Show Third-Party Effects" is selected, and share a screenshot. If you have installed any other third-party components that are not present in the Effect Manager list, please mention their names.
