Hi,
I am using AE since the 1998 and what really annoys me is that it still has different languages for scripting?
Can someone explain why this is a benefit for all non english countries, or do you just don't care about us?
I know there are scripts out there,, but since we all are paying here a monthly subscription, it fells like we
are not that much worth as people that communicate in englisch. The keyboard doesn't work like it should and
the main scripting language has an language issue! That´s kind of a design error I guess?
And no, I can't constantly change the language of my OS only because you made a wrong international decision
in the first place. Try working on a german version and you will get a sense of how its like to stand on the boarder
to nothing. 😉
by the way I learned with the english version, then I had to learn the german version and then scripting didn't work.
And then I have to figure out what does not work. Try to open a project in another language and get the feeling on how
it on in a very stressful client to get all these error messages. 😉
You end up not using this feature.
kind regards from hamburg

Maybe because nobody has thought to request it. This is a perfect candidate for a specific feature request on the UserVoice page. After Effects: Hot (1363 ideas) – Adobe video & audio apps

By scripting you are referring to expressions I guess. Actual scripts are always in English and work on every plattform.
Expressions - however - gets broken if they are not coded properly for international use. If the project depend on project file sharing, it should be a prerequisite how the share exactly should look like. And if you depend on other peoples project, you can demand that they code properly and vice versa. It's not that hard to use matchnames and effect indexes.
But the easiest solution for this language mess is to use an Englisch AE. You don't have to switch OS language or keyboard layout to do so.
Maybe this helps a bit.

Sure. Expressions were only grafted onto AE in version 5.5 as kind of an afterthought, hence they address the property streams in whatever language the UI runs by default. You can of course use workarounds like using the enumerated property indices or trying to figure out the matchnames for effects, but overall of course you are right - it stinks and it's incomprehensible why it has never been renovated from the ground up to auto-match different languages and all that good stuff.

Some people did it in 2018 at least. It's a very huge problem. Please. Users won't be annoyed to change all their variables name if you tell us it's just for one last time.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
