With Photoshop 25, every time I start up PS, an image opens on my screen accompanied by a tuorial on generative ai by Anna McNaught. How to I disable this? I don't need it and I can't find a way to get rid of it.

Can someone help me with this please?

Thank you

FYI another thread describing the same issue received an answer from an Adobe employee

It is related to non ASCII characters in the Windows User folder:

Hopefully this will be fixed soon

Hi Everyone,

First, our sincere apologies to those that are seeing this tutorial pop up at every launch of Photoshop and the frustration it causes that it hasn't been able to be disabled for you.

This seems to be caused by OS User Accounts that have non-standard characters in the account name. The workarounds we're currently aware of are:

  1.  Switch to another OS User Account that does not have non-standard ASCII characters
  2. Roll back to Photoshop 25.0

We have identified the issue and are w

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.

I have to guess because I am not seeing it — least ways I don't think I am — but it could be that you are talking about Suggestions. If that's the case you can see the Hide Suggestions button top right corner.

I can remember help pop-ups after a major update, and from memory there are Skip and Don't show this again check boxes at the bottom of the panel.

If you have too many annoying pop-ups while using Photoshop, turn off Rich Tool Tips in Preferences.

If none of this fixes your issue, grab a screen shot of the panel and paste to this thread.

I assume you have tried both Try Later and Go! ?

Try draging a corner to see if you can make the panel larger. That might reveal a Don't show this again check box.  Otherwise I have to admit I am stumped at the moment.  I'll keep working on it if you are still stuck with it.

Yes I have tried running through the whole tutorial, saved the image, deleted the image.  No option for resizing the box.  Reloaded Photoshop.  It's a strange one for sure.  Really appreciate the feedback thanks

Your first post is tagged with both Mac and Windows.  Which OS and what version are you using?

I think we have reached a stage where it is worth resetting Preferences.  Note: reinstalling doesn't remove the existing Preferences file.

So try the reset from Preferences > General tab, but even if that doesn't work, if we know what OS you are using, we can tell you how to delete the Settings file forcing Photoshop to recreate it next time you open it.

I have the same issue, I might have clicked the tutorial but even after trying it out the same one opens everytime. I clicked and try later and go.

Looks like no one has a solution. I had already chosen "hide suggestions", turned off tool tips and rich tool tips. I'm using windows 10 22H2. Perhaps there's a Windows registry key entry that needs to be modified or deleted in this case. If so, I'd appreciate if someone could help us navigate to it.

Or, maybe this popup is time limited. In the meantime, I'm just going to live with it, or start using the beta version again. It wasn't showing up there but I uninstalled it to save some disk space.

i don't see the tutorial after opening and closing and then reopening ps.  (at least, not if done the same day.)

that won't be much help if the tutorial returns tomorrow, i know.

I guess we have to wait for Adobe to acknowledge this as a problem and then
issue an update to make it go away.

Thanks for chiming in @kglad

you're welcome.

(and i had intended to offer something more helpful by opening ps, seeing the tutorial prompt and then fiddling with the cc desktop app notification preferences, but no tutorial prompt after seeing it earlier today.)

(@Trevor.Dennis, you can use the cc desktop app to removed/reset preferences with an app uninstall.)

Royal pains in the butt @kglad. Thanks. Still no solution to the annoying tutorial problem. Now I have to deal with another bug which prevents LRC from opening an image in PS 25...but that's an issue for another thread. I guess I should roll back to v24.7 for that one. In the meantime, we just have to sit on our hands and wait for Adobe to fix all of these things

I'm having this issue too!
Not to mention, when the tutorial pops up, it makes my toolbars go all wonky and look like this:

ChrissvyV_0-1695925037881.png

I uninstalled my photoshop, reinstalled it, and the toolbars were back. But as soon as that AI tutorial popped up, everything went missing again. So frustrating. Short of trying to remember what button is where, I can't figure out how to make the tutorial go away or how to get my toolbar back.

Hi!

Go to Preferences > General > and uncheck Auto show the Home Screen.

Let us know if that fixes it.
