Hello Developers! First of all, you have given us a great tool in Audition 2024. Thank you!

I am a voice actor, probably a "second class citizen" in the world of audio editing but a member of the community none-the-less and thousands of us use this product. I touch Audtion between 30-60 times per day on average.  I spend 8-12 hours per day recording and editing. 99.9% of what I touch is .mp3. As it stands, when saving my files I have to choose the drop down to change the default (.wav) to .mp3. This may not sound like a big deal, and most days it is simply irritating, but if given the choice to choose my default file extension, it could save me up to an hour of wasted time during a busy day. How you might ask? Well taking the step to change to .mp3 takes a few seconds, is an unneeded step in a perfect world, and is something I sometimes forget to do when in a hurry. If I forget, I have to reopen the file and "save as" and this is usually after I spent time looking for a non existent .mp3 only to realize I saved it as a .wav. These seconds and minutes add up over the course of a day. Not to mention, some casting websites send us time sensitive auditions. We may have 5 minutes to open, record, edit, save, and submit an audition. If we take any longer, our submissions may not get listened to. It's a cruel business. There are only a handful of features we voice actors use. You may want to revisit  Audition Version 3.0. In some ways, it was way more flexible than the current releases. This tiny tweak (I am familiar with what you guys do and I realize it is way more than "tiny" most of the time) would be huge for us. AND it is my only criticism of the current releases. Thank you for listening. If you'd like more information, or a clarification feel free to reach out: [Mod note: personal email address redacted - Adobe policy - for your protection]

I'm not 100% sure, but if you choose "Export File" i.e. Audition remembers your last used settings and file path (which is annoying as well). HTH

Very close. However, it still leaves me with a file to "save" and it's still defaulted to .wav. So it adds yet another step. Thanks for thinking!

Just checked again (with v24.2.0.83) and if I open a WAV and "Save/Save As" it saves as WAV. If I open a MP3, it saves as MP3, albeit always at the previous file path. I rember having this issue myself in previous versions (and the reason of my reply) but it no longer is an issue.

Yes, but existing files are not the issue. I create new files upto (at least) 60 times in a work day. Sometimes with very tight time committments/deadlines. Saving them is where I have the issue. That's where I lose time. Like I said, on the surface I appear to be nit picking but time is everything.
