InDesign

I have an indesign document with a ton of different images, 1 on each page of the doc. I’ve updated a few of these links today and the newly linked updated images have this icon on the bottom left corner which I’ve never seen before. Any idea what this is or what it means? These are not text boxes, there are no primary text frames in this document and no threaded text.It is definitely attached to the linked image and nothing else, as it moves around with the image when I move the image.

This is the second time this has happened with this specific client, and for the sake of professionalism, I cannot generate a new link.Does anyone have a 'magic trick' to fix this situation? Hello! I am on MAC OS TAHOE and when i package, my link folder is empty, and i have an error message - i mean, i REALLY have to package with all the links… What do i do to resolve this issue! Thanks!  

I just installed InDesign (planning to make a book for print). When trying to export to PDF, I always get this warning (in the Export Adobe PDF dialog, see screenshots below):"The preset specifies source profiles that don't match the current color settings file. Profiles specified by the color settings file will be used."I get this warning even when trying to export a single page document with no content. I am new to InDesign, but I have used Photoshop for 15-20 years and have a good working knowledge of color management.What is the warning trying to tell me? And how can I fix this?I am using the standard [High Quality Print] export profile (changing no settings). In the Output section I have Color Conversion set to “No Color Conversion” (no “source profiles” here).What is meant by “the current color settings file”? I have created a set of parent pages that have section headings on them and as you go through the document, when you change sections the new section gets highlighted in some way.I started with one parent page, with all the sections to be used, we’ll call that A-Parent. I then created a new Parent, named it B-Introduction and had it “Based on A-Parent.” I did an override on the word Introduction and styled it how I wanted and I was done. Then I created another new Parent, named it C-Product and had it based on A-Parent. Again, I did an override on the word Product and styled it how I wanted. I continued this process for each section that needed a highlight. As I went through the document, I applied the appropriate Parent page.I exported the PDF, and when I was reviewing it, I found that when I got to the first page of the section with the D-People parent page applied to it, it was holding onto the treatment from the previous parent page section, C-People.This is a screenshot of the A-Pa

I work with a colleague. We use the same InDesign files. I have recently encountered a problem. It only happens to me; my colleague does not have this problem, even though he uses the same files. Text sometimes “jumps” down a bit when I enlarge the text box, change the font size, or simply duplicate a page. I have already researched this, but have not yet found an explanation for it and nothing has helped. We both use the font via Adobe Fonts.

I realize this is a common issue for users but I cannot publish online, get an error 18 message every time. I am absolutely connected online, i have done everything i can to address the issue based on what I’ve read in the forum, and nothing is working. Why is it that there are no human beings to talk to about this with? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

I exported the IndDesign file as XML. When importing the XML into InDesign - it crashed. 

Indesign 21.3 / OS Tahoe 26.3.1 / Synology servermounting Synology server using SMB protocolLately, I & my teammates have been having an issue where Indesign is dropping its links to the server. Can’t save the file either. Close out of ID file and the server partitions are still mounted and I can navigate them. However, cannot work off the server. ID will open the file again, but links are missing. Closing the file does not remove the ID lock file either. Have to manually eject the partitions and remount the drive. Our IT team (outsourced) tends to be PC people and think that Adobe apps can be overly sensitive to network conditions. We’re on a very fast server & switch. They think moving back to AFP protocol may help. Anyone have experience with this issue? Please don’t say work locally. In 2026 that’s possibly the worst thing anyone can say. :D 

This pops up when copy/pasting a vector image from Illustrator to InDesign. Only from recent update.Needs to be fixed ASAP.   

Currently having an issue with my undo/history function. I seem to only be able to go back 2 or 3 commands before the entire history disappears. pls help!

For the past month or two, any time I try to Place a file or update a Placed file, InDesign usually freezes. The cursor turns into the spinning circle. I can close and save the files after this, but cannot close the InDesign app. I try various ways to place the files. File > Place or Ctrl D or copy and paste the placed file from another InDesign file. The files I use are typically on my Google Drive and I’ve installed the Drive app on my machine.This is REALLY getting annoying. Adobe used to be so good with bugs. Any ideas? I’ve read a few posts that say they thought version 21.3 fixed this issue but I’ve still got it.I’ve reset preferences, cleared old versions of InDesign, reinstalled InDesign. InDesign 21.3Core i9 processorWindows 11 home64 GB RAM500+ GB hard drive space Thanks in advance for any tips.

After updating InDesign to 21.3 it broke DLLs and will not open. Error: “The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142)” You can repair C++ redistribution (although that is a temporary fix as InDesign will break the DLLs again) Uninstalling 21.3 and installing 20.5.3 is recommended.

Just clean installed on a new Mac. I used to be able to use my Microsoft bluetooth numpad keyboard to bind shortcuts to paragraph/character styles, but InDesign doesn't want that anymore. The field will stay blank, but the shortcut still works…

The latest version on InDesign was not working on our Windows 11 systems: it either wouldn’t launch or when using it, text will disappear in text boxes (even though it is still there) and the Undo action only performs one or two undos. Uninstalled and went back to InDesign version 20.5.1 which appeared to work fine until today: now I am having the same undo problem. Tested in a brand new document.It should be noted that coworkers with Macs are not having this issue.I saw a previous post that said this could be fixed by unchecking the GPU option in preferences, but that is NOT checked in mine (it is greyed out because it says it does not detect a compatible device).It is almost impossible to work knowing you only have one undo, please advise how to fix this!

I’ve seen this problem mentioned in the InDesign Community a few times in the past, but has anyone recently had problems with Share for Review comments unmapping from their pins?

I’m facing an issue with Tagged PDF export from InDesign.A single paragraph (with no hard returns or forced line breaks) is getting split into multiple [P] tags — each line appears as a separate paragraph in tools like PDFix and Acrobat Tags panel.Details:Text is continuous in one frameNo soft returns (Shift+Enter) or manual breaksUsing standard paragraph stylesIssue appears only after PDF exportExpected:→ One [P] tag for the full paragraphActual:→ Each line exported as separate [P] tagsHas anyone encountered this? I just updated to InDesign 2026 and I'm struggling with the change to resizing split windows. When I'm in the 2-up vertical view (which I use all the time to compare documents), I used to be able to click on the space where the tabs of the windows met at the top and just drag left and right to resize.It looks like I can't do that anymore—I have to click down at the bottom of the windows and hit just the right place in order to resize them (and then it does some automatic resizing first, which is incredibly annoying). Does anyone know if it's possible to get the previous resizing ability back? The new way takes longer and is much clumsier, especially as I am constantly resizing back and forth.

The Control panel menu (gear), hamburger, and lightning bolt icons are unresponsive. I particularly miss the link to "no break".) I'm using version 20.5 on Windows 11 Pro. I reset preferences and rebooted but that did not help. Thanks...
