When scaling or repositioning objects contained within a group, the object should snap to other objects within that group (when smart guides are enabled). This includes images within frames. EG, if you want to resize an image within a frame to the edge of the frame, this won’t work if the frame is part of a group. This was originally posted on UserVoice in July 2019 and commented on by Ravi Kiran from the Adobe InDesign team in July 2019. This issue remains in 2026.

I'm working on a document with a very long table that flows through text boxes from one page to the next. I can clearly see that there's space at the bottom of the page, but I can't seem to increase the size of the cells or row any more. When I try to drag down with the arrow, nothing happens. When I try to adjust manually, I'm met with a window that says "The value must be between 0.0417 in and 8.3333 in." Can anyone help me increase the length of the cells so that there's not overset text, and the space at the bottom of the page is filled? Thanks!

I need an installer for InDesign 2022 (v 17.4.2) to run some old third party plugins. CC app no longer supports this version so I reached out to Adobe support who came back with “To assist you further with obtaining the version links for InDesign 2022 (v17.4.2), please visit the Adobe Community at https://adobe.com/community/ . Once there, select your product, and you can post your questions. The Adobe community members and experts will be able to help you with the download links you need.”So here I am and I can’t find any links, could anyone help please

I have had this issue when placing a PDF in Indesign, I do all my checks and prepwork. I run my preflight to check to make sure the file is CMYK. When it is not I right click and edit original in Acrobat. I do my conversion there. The file relinking tends to lock up Indesign and my fans go nuts. Computer is an M1 Max with 32 gigs of RAM. Indesign 21.5.1.73 in macOS Tahoe (latest update). I have had this with a few larger page PDF’s, the current one is 104 - 5.5 x 8.5 pages. It has been trying to relink for over 20 mins now. I could force quite and just re-add the PDF’s again from scratch with the CMYK profile done and it will be no problem, only when it comes to relinking the file. I have reset preferences numerous times with no luck. Very frustrating. Have this with various files, anyone else having this issue? Any fixes? Hello, why can't I upload files to Indd when it worked fine for years. Most graphic designers and studios work with NAS devices. I can't save anything, I have to make copies and restore files. Can something be done about it? Thank you very much rh     <Title renamed by MOD>

Our team recently upgraded to macOS Tahoe and Adobe CC 2026. Everyone was working fine until the OS updated on a couple computers. Users running Tahoe 26.1 thru 26.5.2 can save to the server fine. Users on Tahoe 26.6 and higher cannot. They receive this error when saving: “InDesign is unable to save this file. We tried, but it appears to be damaged.” This requires them to save the files to their desktops first and then pull them to the server which is really not efficient for our workflow.Doesn’t matter if they are resaving an existing file or creating a new file to save to the server. All users are connecting to the same server and same location on the server for testing purposes. All computers have Full Disk access set for InDesign and we’ve tried resetting preferences, setting up new user accounts, and clearing InDesign cache files. We updated to InDesign 21.5.1 and that didn’t help.  We tested and we could break working computers by installing the updated OS. We are connecting to o

My team has reviewed the document and the comments are showing in review but none of their highlights or pins are showing. I've signed in and out, restarted my computer, etc and it has made no difference. It isn't showing on their end either when they open the review link. It's like they disappeared. Below is a screenshot.  

Every time I open InDesign, I find the context bar in the center of the screen. Even when I use the 'unpin' command, I move the context bar where I want it, and "pin" it. However, the bar keeps returning to the center, and the 'pin context bar' command doesn't seem to work.Screenshot attached.

Okay, I don't know if anyone else has this problem; however, I keep having it, and it's really annoying and frustrating because for some reason the Contextual Task Bar in Illustrator or InDesign keeps acting up by only moving in one place up and down not all over the screen like it should be and I've tried to save all my stuff, exit out, and reopen as well as turning it off in the Window section of both applications and nothing and I have no idea how to fix this so if anyone knows a permant solution to this please tell me cause I'm lost and I would really appericate it so much! When having a file open in InDesign 2024 on my Macbook Pro (Sonoma 14.2.1 OS), close the lid, plug into my LG UltraFine external monitor and wake the computer up, the InDesign window is still open and all the tool bars are visible and working, but the area where the artwork is becomes black/blank and I can't see the work. I can see the bounding boxes if I select all, but no image or text. The window is entirely blank. The same thing happens if I'm working on my LG monitor, unplug the display and then open the Macbook to work. I always have my Macbook closed when plugged into the LG display and use both an external keyboard and trackpad. The solution is to always save, quit InDesign and reopen. If I go through that it works again. Is it a bug with Apple? Is it a bug with Adobe? My LG firmware, OS and Adobe InDesign are all updated to the latest versions.

Hi! I’ve noticed that QR codes generated with some free online tools have stopped working after some time. Does anyone know if the QR codes created with InDesign’s built-in tool are permanent? Will they continue to work indefinitely?

Hello, I’ve already taken all tried the steps laid out on Adobe’s site to troubleshoot. Additionally I’ve tried the following:Swapped from ethernet to Wifi, then back againLogged out of Creative cloud then logged back inre-started creative cloudTried uploading from the same Adobe login using 2 different computers, and 2 different indesign files.Tried to update existing link, does not work. Tried to publish new link, also does not work. No i do not have proxies or vpn getting in the way. I ebven tried turning my VPN on to see if that would somehow do anything, nothing. Just keep getting error 18 or 33 across 2 macs, multiple indesign files. Two comepletly separate networks as well. The one consistent thing is my Adobe account, any advice?

Hi everyone, Can anyone help me? I'm trying to create an InDesign snippet that contains a table, but every time I place it on the page, it messes up the layout. Hi! In InDesign version 21.5.1, the OAM files generated in Animate don't work when I preview the spread in EPUB, nor when I export the document in Publish Online. I had to revert InDesign to version 21.4.1 for it to work as it used to. Any ideas on how to use the latest version and get the OAM files working?Thanks!

I have all updates for the apps installed. When using indesign--where i constantly use the libraries--it freezes constantly and I have to quit indd & restart it for it to come back. all other parts of the program work fine. it's only the libraries that freezes. 

Just a bout forever I have been have to use the option  (or shift and option if I want to duplicate horizontally or vertically)  to duplicate an element and drag it to where I want it to be. It is not working anymore. When I click on an object the double arrow does appear, but as soon as I drag, it disappears...I use this all the time, what is the fix?

After the most recent update I had to create a document using assets from older indesign files that previously never gave any issues. Now the dropshadows from multiple (different objects) move all over the place (away from the object as if theres a fixed lightsource) when I move these objects. When I turn off the dropshadow of the object, move the object and then turn the shadow back on it will have the shadow in it's correct position. When I move the object around multiple times it will start glitching the entire page until I move my cursor over it again. When I change the path of the object the displaced shadow will snap back into it's correct position, making me think this is a graphical display issue.  In the example below you can see how the dropshadows moved. (left one moved up when moving the object down and to the left. Right one stayed closer to it's original position but offset, middle is the original position before copying and moving).  i'm working on a

Ever since the last updated, drop shadows aren't displaying properly when exporting PNGs from Indesign. There are a couple of threads, but no solutions, It's becoming annoying, as the workaround is to close the app completely and reopen the file. Totally messes the workflow.
