Transform / Rotate in Lightroom Classic

New Here ,
Aug 22, 2025 Aug 22, 2025

I wanted to rotate my image ACW. I tried right click Transform rotate left in the develop modue. After a short while the image flipped back again. I tried using the rotate handles in Grid view, same result. Looking at the History it does not register a transformation.

LRC Release 14.5 ACR 17.5

Mac os Sequoia 16.6

I tried more than one photo. Also Canon CR3 file from Canon R6 mki and Fuji x100v

Hi @Barry05! Thank you for reaching out and sharing the necessary details! Could you please share relevant chronological screenshots or a screen recording of the issue as well?

In the meantime, here are a couple of things to try:

1) Update everything: Make sure LrC, ACR and your OS is fully updated.

2) Check Folder permissions: In Finder, navigate to the folder that contains the image you're trying to rotate. > Right-click on the folder and select Get Info. > At the bottom of the Get Info window, look for the Sharing & Permissions section. > Click the lock icon at the bottom right and enter your password. Make sure your user account has Read & Write privileges. Then, click the gear icon at the bottom and choose "Apply to enclosed items...". This ensures all photos inside the folder inherit the correct permissions.

3) Make sure LrC has the permisssions required: Check out thi helpx article for steps and more info n how to Allow Permissions to Lightroom Classic on macOS

4) Reset LrC Preferences: Quit Lightroom Classic. Press and hold Option + Shift while you click the Lightroom Classic icon to relaunch it. A dialog box will appear, click Reset Preferences.

Thanks a bunch!

Noel

Hello @Barry05,
This is a known issue in LRC 14.5 with ACR 17.5 on macOS Sequoia. Rotation changes may not persist due to metadata conflicts or GPU rendering bugs. Try disabling GPU acceleration under Preferences > Performance, then rotate again. Adobe is investigating this behavior.

Best regards,
Kyla Ellis
