Masks in presets on Lr mobile are not refreshed automatically for over a year now

When you apply a presets containing masks using Lrc or Lr on your computer, masks are recalculated for every new picture where they are applied. This is how it should and must work.

On mobile devices, you have to go into the preset and manually refresh every mask, which does not make sense. This is an inconsistent behaviour and not at all user-friendly.

It was my belief that this was a gap that would be filled over time, but over a year has gone by and nothing happend, which is why I can only classify this as an error.

Does anyone know when this error will be fixed?

This is a real drag of a problem. I use numerous auto masking presets in my desktop workflow and all of them feel broken on mobile. I can't see the result, I need to apply them first, then go back and manually select the mask to recompute before seeing the result. Please at least implement it such that when a preset using an auto mask is selected that the recompute occurs so we can see the result quickly.

If you have batch pasted edit settings where a mask is applied, you are right that the mobile app only recomputes the mask when an edited image is opened in the edit view or exported.  I am not aware of any plans to change this -- since mobile devices generally are less robust than desktop platforms, I think the point is to avoid dramatic use of mobile CPUs.

By doing the masking recompute on demand when images are viewed or exported, it is hoped mobile experiences are not weighed down by lots of background processing.

I'll check with the team to see if there are indeed any plans to change the approach.

Thanks for following up. AI-masks are basically the de-facto standard in many cases when editing on the iPad or iPhone. We have a ton of presets that work perfectly on the PC. Not having the same kind of refresh makes mobile editing sub-par and the use of advanced presets on iPhone or iPad basically pointless, since you do not see what the preset does to the picture. The iPhone and iPad have processors that in many cases are more powerful than the processors on many regular PCs. I really hope that the team can bump up mobile editing. It would be a shame if not, since Lightroom with its masks by far is the best editing program.
