This is happening on all of my premiere pro projects. Started when I updated to Premiere 2024. When I look at a video in either source or the timeline, it glitches (see photo). I haven't found anyway to view my footage. The only way to see the real video is by playing the video. This makes it impossible to color correct or colorgrade footage. Please help fix this, it basically is preventing me from editing.

I found a similar issue right after I posted.

I changed my rendering setting to "solo software mercury playback engine" and this fixed the issue.

Hi,

Adobe Premiere Pro community. I see, from all your post on the Adobe Community forum, that you have been experiencing a problem with clips failing to properly preview in the Source Monitor. Clips either go black and white with pixelation blocks or have varying pixelation issues on the preview window. We want to fix this and understand the frustrations you have all been going through. To do so, we first need to be able to reproduce the failure here at Adobe.  Unfortunately, our attempts at re

This has frustratingly been going on for well over a year. I've had to blow through deadlines with clients, and nearly missed a premiere because we had to render in a lower bitrate on software only. Switching from GPU/Metal to Software Only is an unacceptable solution—one that hasn't proven even 100% effective.

ADOBE: This is truly unacceptable.

Exactly. It's unacceptable! And if you update your system to Sequoia, be prepared for the slowest Premiere ever. If the issue of glitches was resolved with Sequoia, on the other hand it brought us a problem just as horrible!

I'm having the same exact issue, using the latest version of Premiere Pro (25.0) on an intel 27" iMac running OS 14.7 (Sonoma). Only started happening with the Premiere Pro 25. When does Adobe plan to fix such a glaring bug? Or is this my final sign to start using Davinci for editing?  I can't even revert because my files will no longer open in the previous version of Premiere Pro.

Export the project in XML and open it in the previous version. However, I suggest updating the Mac system to Sequoia, as Sonoma with Premiere in version 2024 was giving these glitches too. I believe it is incompatible with the Sequoia. Good luck and let's demand definitive solutions from Adobe to quickly resolve these problems that terrify us on a daily basis!

I am editing video taken from multiple devices but I cannot view the video.  I think it is something wrong with my settings.  I have restarted the program, cleared the cache etc... Now when I open older projects that I edited fine, I see the same scrambled video!

I used another computer and there was no issue.  Can you please advise on how I might resolve this?

Thanks!

Hi @oneway_9122 ,

Apologies for the inconvenience. Could you please share the Premiere version and device details? Also, try resetting the app preferences by holding the Shift key while launching Premiere to see if it helps.

Thanks,
Mayjain

Thanks!  I changed my rendering setting to "solo software mercury playback engine" and that seems to resolve the issue for now, but every project I open, I have to do the same.  I hope Adobe will resolve this permanently!
