UPDATE: 10-31-24
This is currently a Known Issues we will be providing updates when we know more.  Thank you for your patience.

MEDIA DOES NOT DISPLAY ON THE TIMELINE ON WINDOWS SYSTEMS

On Windows, if a custom scale factor is set in System > Display, media does not display on the Premiere Pro timeline. We are working to fix this issue in an updated version of Premiere Pro. Two workarounds are available:

  1. In Windows, turn off custom scaling and use one of the standard scaling options, or
  2. In Premiere Pro, turn off GPU-accelerated UI rendering in Preferences > General.

This problem has been fixed internally and will be released with the next public version of Premiere Pro (Pr 25.1). If you don't want to wait for that, you can see the fix in a recent Public Beta build of Pr 25.2 (build 005 or higher). Also, you can turn off custom scaling (115%) in Windows display settings to avoid the problem altogether.

Hi there,

I recently updated to v25, and I've tried the latest beta. Have reset all prefs, etc.

Fresh project, load a clip into the timeline and the clip isn't visible. There is video in the viewer and audio is there.  Interacting with the timeline (clicking where the clip should be, etc) makes the clip appear, but the clip(s) disappear as soon as I start playing, and often just randomly if I'm scrubbing around.

It doesn't seem to matter what format the clip is (.mov, .mp4, etc; 10 bit, 8 bit, whatever).

Any ideas?

Cheers!

This has only happened since the update. I'm on a very chunky Windows machine.

In all my projects (old and newly created), the colored video clips and audio tracks are not displayed in the timeline. Only when I play the project for a few seconds or zoom into the project on the timeline do the tracks appear. Sometimes, however, not all but only one track appears. If I move the mouse over them, the clips disappear or appear for a short time. This makes it impossible to work with it at all!

I use a 2070 Super (Studio driver 565.90) with a Ryzen 3900X system and 64 GB Ram.

That shouldn't be the problem.

Best regards

Tom

Hello @ArrowPictures,

Thanks for the bug report and screen movie. It's helpful to see these. In perusing these forums, I have seen at least a few others with this problem. I would consider this a bug, for sure. Let's ensure the team has full details about your system, media, and workflow. If you don't mind, please send me a private message with a copy of the project file. To see the information the team seeks, see "How do I write a bug report?"

Thanks for trying the troubleshooting steps that Ann mentioned. I'm sorry that they didn't work for you.

I have submitted your report to the product team, and they are looking into the problem. I am looking forward to helping you solve this issue. Sorry for the frustration.

Thanks,
Kevin

I opened a project I am working on in the new Adobe Premiere.  There are no thumbnails for the media content.  If I run the cursor across the timeline slowly they will start to show up but if I scroll away and then back they are gone.

Thank you.  Did so,  Doesn't fix it.  If I slide all the way right with the time line zoomed out everything is there.  If I slide all the way left nothing is there.  To be clear, the editing still exists.  Just not the thumbnails to locate the events.

Also, I re-installed the previous version again and opened the project.  It works perfectly.  Something changed in the new version that won't work on my system (which isn't really a unique configuration).

There are a few other posts about users getting this odd thing where clips "disappear" from a sequence in the Timeline panel, then reappear. Weird thing ...

So, hard data on your machine ... OS/CPU/RAM/GPU and GPU driver, disc types in use, and the media and effects used. We need such data for the devs to try and replicate it.

The media is a combination of elements.  Lots of mp4s, but I ran them all through media encoder and matched them all.  Lots of jpegs.  Everything in the project is sized 3840 by 2160 at 60 fps.  The transitions are mostly disolves using the standard Adobe version.  There are a few effects from New Blue.  A couple of wipes and a couple of slide transitions.  For several of the jpegs I applied the Adobe simple 3d effect.  For others, while in Photoshop, I separated the subjects from their backgrounds and then imported those as a PSD in individual layers so that I could move them all independently.  The project is roughly 10 minutes long if that is relevant.  There are three sound layers.  Nothing extrordinary there.  I did some mild peak limiting.
