Timeline Playback Freezing Issue

Hi everyone,

I keep having an issue with my playback freezing up, I've had multiple Adobe reps remote control my PC but to no avail. I'm currently using CC 2019 13.1.2 (Build 9) but have the same issue with CC 2018 V12.1.2 (Build 69) and every other version I've tried.

Premiere Problem - YouTube

The issue only occurs when editing with footage from my Sony FS700 (.MTS files). I can get through say 4-5 hours on a project before the issue starts to happen, then some clip previews refuse to load and the clips won't play. I can still drag the playhead over the timeline and most clips play. If I then press play nothing happens, I can drag the playhead but there is no playback or sound. Premiere doesn't actually freeze or stop responding and I can change effect parameters, add clips and save my work. I then have to restart Premiere, sometimes the issue will happen right away again, sometimes it will take another few minutes.

I've tried different GPU drivers but that didn't do anything unfortunately.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

PC Specs:

Windows 10 Pro

i7 3770k

GTX 1070ti

Corsair 32GB DDR3

All footage is being edited of a Samsung Evo 860 1tb SSD

I believe the FS700 gives a max bitrate of around 30mbps.
I suggest, you convert to .mp4 at 30mbps.

Try with a couple of files and see if that works better.

Alternatively, try to create .mp4 proxies (SD quality with 4mbps max))

... and your 1tb SSD is also the main drive where the OS and software are installed? If so, footage need to be on a different.
However, it seems like a cache problem. Try changing the location of your cache folder. Also make sure to MANUALLY delete everything in the cache folder. (If you don't know how to do any of those, please let us know)

Additionally, if you have any Antivirus software, disabling it will be a good idea.

Finally, I never really liked working with .MTS, always had problems, and I took the habit of converting them before. Alternatively you can try proxying, but I strongly suggest converting those .MTS

The footage is not on the same drive as my Premiere and OS install, I've tried different drives, SSD and HDD but no change. I have also disabled my anti-virus and deleted my cache, that didn't help either unfortunately.

What would you suggest converting the .MTS files to?

Converting to MP4 seems to have solved the problem. Guess it was those pesky .MTS files haha. Thanks for the help!
