Question

Using Stock Images in templates to sell on Etsy

1st: I've already read the licensing terms. I'm just still confused and would like full clarity.

If I make a template for people to download... for example a senior banner where I use Adobe Stock images in the background. And the end user would insert their own photograph after purchasing my template..... Can I use Adobe Stock images as the background assuming I merge them together or something so that the end user is not gaining a layer with the original stock image itself? (Does that make sense?) I am gathering I can't leave a stock image as it's own layer, because that would give that image to the end user. But if I change it, or merge other elements into it so that it's not simply the original image am I think allowed to sell the template?

Does that make sense?

The issue is not modifing or not, but giving access to the original data, even if modified. You can showcase the template on Etsy with the asset inserted, but when the user buys the template, you will need to sell it without the stock asset and the user needs to be aware of that.

Do you know, what if I generate my own background elements using AI? Like leonardo.ai. .... Can AI elements be sold as part of a template?

As this is a Leonardo question, you should ask that in a Leonardo sponsored forum. All depends on the licence you get with that software and the generated images.

Yes as long as you ensure that a user cannot strip out the embedded stock images, you can sell the template.

ok. ... So (see example) ... this is 3 different stock images, the top, middle and smoke...but cropped and merged together into one background layer. ..... Ok to use as the background layer?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post if it helps you get responses.
