Blurring involves averaging which can reduce colors and result in banding. Some add light noise filters as this can help - especially during the export / encode to H.264 step. Changing your preview codec for your Sequence while working in Premiere can give you a higher quality rendering - so that can be worth playing with.  As suggested, increasing the Max bit depth is recommended in this case.   As Kevin mentioned, exporting to a high quality mastering codec vs H264 should also show some differences. Was the main image in the 5 second sequence a Photoshop file with 3D text?  Trying to understand how much of this problem could be related to the source image.  There could be a performance issue or specific bug. As mentioned previously in this thread, there was a known issue specific to 2017 where some files within a media cache directory could be deleted when clearing the media cache.  This issue was short lived and quickly remedied. Any Premiere builds with this bug were removed and deleted long ago. There are no other known issues related to deleting media in newer builds. Re: Renamed and deleted media issue. Thank you for providing more info here and Im glad you're making some progress! In Media Encoder, can you check what GPU accelerated mode it is using? Does this match Premiere Pro settings?  They are related code / programs so I would expect this type of difference to possibly be related to a difference in settings. Could Premiere be set to software only rendering? Please confirm that Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder are both using CUDA GPU accelerated rendering and lmk. A bit trickier to troubleshoot via thread - but here are a few ideas. Did your GPU drivers change by chance?  Would be good to see if any changes have been made to any GPU driver (Nvidia or Intel) Does your laptop also have an Intel GPU?  Older Intel drivers have been the source of slowdowns for many users. If your driver Have you confirmed that GPU acceleration is enabled in the Project Settings? Here is some info on the Intel GPU.  The 2019 version of Premiere Pro (version 13.0 and later) requires a recent version of the Intel graphics driver. Adobe Premiere Pro has qualified Intel driver version 100.6286 as a baseline to avoid any stability and performance issues. We recommend updating your Intel drivers to the baseline drivers or above. Note: 100.6286 refers to the last two places of the complete version of the Intel driver (i.e. 24.20.100.6286) It is recommended that you try to obtain a compatible driver from your PC manufacturer.  If a compatible version is not available, Intel makes a generic version available on its website: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27988. Here is a bit more info on upgrading the Intel drivers.  This is still recommended and can be a cause of the issues described previously in this thread. Intel display drivers can be particularly difficult to upgrade because many PCs with embedded Intel GPUs are provided with custom drivers from the manufacturer.  The user should first check with their manufacturer to see if a compatible update is available. Intel provides a generic legacy driver for those users without access to an upgraded driver from the manufacturer.  The generic driver can be downloaded from: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27988.  Note, Intel does provide later, Windows DCH, drivers than this.  Windows DCH drivers cannot be used to upgrade older legacy drivers. In many cases, these problems can be the result of various issues. ie. a GPU driver, an issue with a format or a configuration issue, etc. in the end there are many variables and I often need more info in order to be able to get to the bottom of the issue. Hello, Did you delete the actual media cache folders? Another good area to check is related to GPU driver versions. Can you confirm if your laptop also have an Intel GPU? Hey John, There have been many changes related to GPU drivers for 13.1. If you open the project in a previous version, everything plays fine?  Any chance anything changed with your latest project versions? Does the problem go away if you switch to Software only mode (no GPU acceleration).  I'd imagine that playback could be slower in this  case due to the lack of GPU acceleration but this will all depend on number of effects used, scaling,  etc. I would be interested to hear how software playback performance compares to GPU acceleration...wondering if the GPU driver could be part of the problem.
