You create one variant style, or style set, for each variation. With some care and planning the number of styles can be minimized, and if you make them hierarchical (parent-child-child) maintaining and updating them is streamlined.   There isn't really any second way; it's how InDesign and most other modern layout apps manage such things.   If you use Word-style hacks and whitewash like soft returns or spot formatting, projects often become unmanageable messes, especially if they are meant to be updated and reprinted at intervals. (That is, you can get away with some sloppiness for 'one and done' projects, even if it's not a best practice, but anything you will need to revise in cycles, or someone else will need to modify, or if you plan to export it to any e-book format... nope. You need to follow those best-practice rules.)   Even for a one-time project, if it has many interations of a layout need, doing it with a hack means you have to repeat and update the hack many times, and it's a ton more work that way than just setting up style-driven formatting in the first place. ... I tried looking for the folder and files but the only folders within Adobe Indesign are Versions 18.0 to 20.0. None of them contain com.adobe.InDesign.plist.  This problem makes Indesign completely un-usable. By @Stuckapart   If your problem is exactly the one that's OP reported, then try to enable GPU Performance in Preferences (if it's supported by your monitor at all, otherwise it will be grayed out.)   If GPU isn't available, then there's no other known solution for this particular problem in InDesign 2025. In Normal view, I took an object on one layer and moved it to another. That forced InDesign to generate a new Preview view. I then moved the object back to its original layer and the Preview updated to match. I didn't need to delete my preferences, etc. (I have very specific preferences and searches. I was able to resolve the ""TOCI" element links to an incorrect destination error" by updating the alternate description for the link. Somehow it was captured incorrectly during conversion from Word to PDF. (From the tags view in Acrobat, right click the link tag (that was flagged by PAC 2024) and select Properties to open the Object Properties window. Turned on GPU Performance on my Macpro M2 and this stopped for me. It was still happening as of latest update, Dec2024, and finally googled about it, and I tried that (actually wouold have assumed is was already turned on), and that stopped that bug. Hi! Unfortunately this workaround doesn't work as expected (at least for me). DisableAsyncExports.txt works occasionally, but when I restart my Macbook Pro (2021, MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1) I just get a beachball when exporting a pdf. Then I have to 1. close InDesign 2025, delete the 'DisableAsyncExports.txt' 2. restart InDesign  3. close Indesign, place the .txt-file back in the 'MacOS'-folder 4. restart InDesign again. Very annoying.... Is there any other solution to this problem? Or a workaround to get it running as expected again? I don't know why Adobe doesn't give us a built-in option to enable/disable the pdf export-progress bar. ... View more

My best guess would be an RGB Blue that is Out of CMYK Gamut in the type of PDF you use to export. Can you post a screenshot of the colour definition maybe? And tell us what kind of PDF you use ('High Quality;, PDF/X-1 etc.) and what your colour management profile settings are? ... View more
