I also recommend saving your Google Docs and Sheets to Word and Excel respectively. Then open them up, clean them up, and do a save-as. I either copy-and-paste into Illustrator or save directly as PDF. The PDFs are RGB, but I can convert them to CMYK in Acrobat Pro, including converting the RGB black to 100K.

Another option is to create a custom stroke style in the Strokes panel wtih gaps at the top and bottom. Then create a cell style (auto-applied to first column in table style) with the orange rule. Note: I did not try to replicate your layout exactly.

I think we discussed this before, but I've split the parent page items on two layers. I lock the layer I don't want to be overridden. The other layer with parent page items can be overridden en masse. Simple select all the pages in the Pages panel and override the items.

You don't have to shift-click to unlock a primary text frame. Just load the text and click. The frames will be unlocked at that point.

I started to sign up under a new email to experience the process anew. The 7-day trail at no fee and a 30-day trial with a full refund were pretty clear. The cancelation and termination fee was available with a link right before one accepted the trial. While I felt it could have been more pronounced, I generally don't agree to things without reading at least _some_ of the terms. Here does the responsibility untimately lie to make sure the terms are understood?

I would add just one additional comment to @rob day 's posts. I think primary text frames are best projects like books and technical manuals. The magazines I've worked on, they really wouldn't be appropriate since the text jumps around the publication. For magazines, I use the manual approach since it gives me more control over the flow

I agree with @try67 about not trusting A1. I've seen some patently wrong answers. Acrobat can be confusing because it does a number of different, sometimes unrelated, things. For example, redaction has nothing to do print production. However, I DO agree with @ODuinn that the various signature options need a clear decision-tree chart to guide users as to what option(s) is the best to use at the moment for their needs.

The reason I asked about is I used to use the system below for a publisher I consulted to. They were "old school" and did not use electronic approval. I made use of InDesign's slug area and put an approval list on the parent pages; when printing proofs, I printed to legal size paper and included the slug area.

@Peter Spier You can change your preferences to delete empty pages. If find that the Primary Frames work well _with the right type of project_. I've used them to produce multiple projects ranging from 500-1000 pages each.

I got the same results. A couple of other tips: Not sure if this represents yan actual layout, but your "Placeholder Heading" can be part of the same text frame if you set Span Columns to 2. The black box behind the photo caption is unnecessary. You can color the background of the caption frame. Use your text frame insets to adjust spacing.
