Selecting off the stroke line SHOULD give you a single colour..? Sorry i miss read your first post, so selecting the stroke line give you the gradient and selcting off the line but still on the colour should select the colour..? 🤔

If you are selecting from a stroke make sure it's the stroke line you select from or it will just pick up the colour of where you are selecting...? See screenshot below...

I'm finding it hard to totally understand what you mean or maybe its because I can't replicate the issue you have? 🤔 Have you tried clearing your preferences and or uninstalling and reinstalling to try and resolve the issue..?

If what I think you are talking about, the only way to see unselected items that have no fill or stroke would be to view via the outline view..?

If you name the artboards, when you save as artboards it will export with the arboard names, if you leave the artboards with the same name they will add the numbers on the end otherwise they would all be named the same thing and that just can't happen like that.

Can you explain your set up, are you working on one monitor/dual monitors? What version are you currently working on? Mac/PC? Have you tried using the arrange tab options..? Like so...
