What lines do you want to delete? If it's all the ones outside the main shape you could use your direct selection arrow (white) and click and drag over then and delete. It all depends on how the artwork has been created though, so without having the file to play with is a little hard to be precise. ... View more

The edit colors will work on vector artwork and not pixel based artwork, if you want to recolor a photo i would suggest using Photoshop for that and then import into Illustrator. ... View more

If you can open the PDF with Illustrator and you see no issues (not saying you won't) you can select the page elements and create outlines of them and then re-save as a PDF.
