I had just barely began this tutorial (Photoshop manipulation, After the rain | Photoshop Training - YouTube) and I am stuck on how the instructor was able to select Refine Edge after selecting the Lasso tool. There is just one Background layer showing in his tutorial. I have used the Pen tool to select the image, clicked on the Lasso tool, next it states to click on Refine Edge--that is grayed out on my end? How can I pluck out the raindrop and set it on a white background?

I am following the video and in it there is just the Background Layer showing with the Lock icon. The second layer doesn't appear until after the Refine Edge option in the tutorial (which is grayed out on my PC).

I am stuck already, just starting this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MIgOqyv0zE. I have selected raindrop using the Pen tool. Next it says to select Lasso tool, Refine Edge. The Refine Edge is grayed out? Thanks for looking, Lucie.

I am 77 years with approximately a dozen online tutorials under my belt. I am studying up on how to record my actions. I am still having problems understand layer masks, vectors, transparencies--although I am getting better as I complete more tutorials. I would like to learn stick figure animations. My version of Photoshop is CS6 Extended. I will be out of the loop after that. Thanks for looking. Lucie.

Oh Pooh, right off it says to crop image. Not sure if I did it correctly; the tutorial image shows it in Layer panel as Background. If I save my image it winds up with a white border, Layer 0: When I follow the instructions for Image/Canvas Size this is what I wind up with: Image on left from tutorial, my image--white is missing? OMG, the tutorial's Image dialogue box differs from mine, I have never used the Crop tool before, but there are a couple of other things I have learned from this tutorial already.

It did, thanks so much. In the link above scroll down to this post--it worked for me: Xenil Nov 6, 2013 4:52 PM (in response to station_two) This is what you do: NOTE: THIS DOES INCLUDE HAVING MIDDLE EASTERN SET, BUT ISN'T THE FIX ITSELF! 1. Go to 'Type' through the menu, or (preferences on mac) and make sure type set is set to Middle Eastern. There, wasn't so hard, was it? =] 2. Now, do this: 3. 4. 5. This may set back and forth if you have a certain text layer selected, so make sure you're doing this independently of any layers.

This was helpful but I don't want to print the document. I am curious why my screen is different than that in the tutorial? I seem to get into trouble at this point. This is the second time in this tutorial that my screen is different than the one in the video tutorial. I am using version CS6 Extended.

I meant the amount of space between lines of text. Last night I remembered from my previous tutorial that The Size is 8 points and the "Leading" is 7 points. Leading" is the amount of space between the lines of text. This should work, but haven't had time to get back to the tutorial. Mowing a ditch and dentist appointment today. I give it a go later tonight...
