Hi Mary, When you refer to "you" I think you're assuming that this public forum is Adobe Central when in fact this is a public forum made up mostly of volunteers helping users with Adobe software questions. Your issue needs to be addressed by Adobe directly. Trying calling them at 1 (800) 833-6687 or by going to this web page where you can chat or e-mail a representative. They should be able to solve your issue. Most people can cancel their membership from their profile but your account is somehow unique. This could be how it was purchased or installed. I hope that helps!

In the links panel, you can highlight a link (one that's missing) and click the go to link button at the bottom of the panel. That will show you where the link is used in the document. Regarding deleting them, that's fine if you're not using them but if they're needed in the doc, you don't want to remove them. So the above method will help you to find them and then you can decide whether you want to delete them or not. If you need them, relink them to the actual file.

Derek's taking care of you on the overset text issue but the images should be linked. When you drag and drop from Bridge, you're creating a link to the images on your computer. If you see red question marks, InDesign can't find the images. Although the file will print, you're probably get a low-resolution proxy of the image and not the full detail of the image.

I need some more information. Your cards have the first name and last name placeholder on each card twice so I would expect the first name and the last name to appear twice. Can you describe what you're hoping to achieve?

Hi Lepote, Reflow in general is for low vision users. I just don't think that Acrobat is the tool that is preferred for actual reading. I can't name any tools specifically off-hand, but there are many tools within the blind and low vision community that are used besides Acrobat. It is important that the content flows in the correct order. For low vision users, the tags themselves really aren't used unless they're using read aloud software such as JAWS, NVDA, Window Eyes, etc. Tags are not actually used to reflow the content of a PDF. Reflow is a different order and is not mutually exclusive to tag order. Here's a video that I created for my accessibility course on Lynda.com that might clear things up for you.

I’ve had a similar issue in the past. Look for any file names of the InDesign document or any linked graphics that have unique characters. Especially forward / or back \ slashes. On a server this can indicate a directory change and cause problems. Especially a Windows server.

I’m a bit confused when you say the text isn’t yellow. It appears to be yellow in your screen shots. The exported PDF should look the same as the InDesign file and if it doesn’t then we need to look at the InDesign file or the export settings. Regarding the reflow... The Reflow function in Acrobat is a testing tool to check the general behavior of reflowing text. Low vision users are not likely to use Acrobat for this purpose and will likely use some other tool. So I wouldn’t focus too hard on the appearance. I typically use reflow to test the order that objects are in when they reflow.

Sure you could argue that it's the printer's job, but the question is how would you do it. It's a basic work & turn and easy to do in InDesign. The way I accomplish this is by creating a new InDesign document to the size of the finished 4 up work & turn you're trying to create. You may need to account for bleed if necessary. Create a graphic frame for each page and then choose File > Place. Select your original InDesign document and choose "show import options" in the Place dialog before you click OK. This will allow you to choose which page of the original document that you want to place each time. Place each page in the proper position to create your "imposition". Print out the pages at 25% of actual size and you'll have your finished product. You could of course build the original imposition at 25% of size as well but I think building at full size would be the easiest and then print out at 25%. Hope that helps!

Your not going to be able to rotate it in 3D space within InDesign. You can save a 3D drawing as a 2D file and add buttons in InDesign to indicate different parts though. You might want to check out Adobe Dimensions which allows you to work with 3D objects in 3D space. But if you're trying to interact with the 3D object with buttons, it's not going to happen in InDesign.

Any of those options is a good idea. I like the Creative Cloud files folder for being able to show my projects to clients very easily. It's dummy-proof. But all of the storage methods mentioned, DropBox, OneDrive, Google Drive are no-brainer method's of protecting against data loss.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it seems to me that someone deleted the file. Unless you can speak to IT and see if they have a backup, you might be out of luck. If you were logged in using your account on that computer, then all of your files should reside in the home folder of that account. Not sure if your school backs up those accounts or not. It's odd that the copy you saved to the USB drive doesn't work either though. I with I could provide more help.

I think Barabara's right, there might be 2 spaces in there but it also looks like maybe they defined 3 characters in the Drop Cap Characters across field. So they could have applied the kerning in between any of those spaces. Put your cursor to the left of the "A" cap then use your right arrow key to hop to the next kerning pair. Look at the kerning field and stop when the value appears.

Ah, I think you're running into a common issue when trying to adjust the kerning between the CAP and the rest of the body text. Take a look at the figures below. If you click to the right of the CAP but near the baseline of the first line of body text, you'll get a giant cursor next to the CAP. Although this seems like what you would want, it doesn't work. Applying kerning using the shortcut just does nothing at all. But if you're a little more careful and you click directly to the left of the first body character, you'll get a smaller (normal) sized cursor and now when you adjust the kerning, it works like a charm. It's obscure, but once you know the trick, it's not too bad.

Thanks for sending the file over matthewdee. It's as I suspected… The Word document is build entirely using text boxes, so those Word text boxes get convert to inline text frames within the main text frame story in InDesign. It's just messy. I would flow it in as you have, then using your Selection tool, cut each text frame and then paste it back into InDesign so it's not inline. Then you can move them and modify them as desired. Having them inline will be a nightmare. I hope that helps!

It looks to me like they used a ton of text boxes in Word. This content doesn't flow well at all. I think you're going to have to do some manual work on this project as it was built in Word in a fairly non-conventional way. I'm happy to take a look at the Word doc for you. I'm betting the there's an image in the Word doc that won't fit on the InDesign page. Do you have the overset text indicator (a red plus sign in the lower right corner of the frame on the first page) after you shift + click to place? This can get tricky. I'd try deleting the images from the Word doc as a test and then repeating the process. If it works, the images are the culprit. To fix, you may need to open up the frame on the first page much wider and higher and then scale down the image and continue from there.

I feel like you could achieve the color change with a GREP style if you make the circle a text character such as a bullet. The tricky part would be the circles that are half and half.

You can still use Multi-state objects for print purposes actually. Even though the interactivity won't be relevant, you can still use them to toggle through the various images to see them and then just choose the one that you want to use prior to exporting.

That's to be expected. I'm surprised you haven't had any issues before this. CS6 is 5 versions old at this point. Being that it will no longer be updated, you can't expect it to keep running without issues as the OS's continue to improve.

The eps text is content and therefore the reader wants to read it even though it's tagged as a figure. This is inconvenient, but not considered a failure condition. My suggestion was going to be to outline the text to prevent it from being read but you've already indicated that this isn't an option. So given your parameters, I don't see a way around it. What software are you using to read the PDF?

Your only hope would be if you chose to allow users to download a PDF of the project when you published it. This would give you a PDF version of your project with a few more options than none, but it's still not the InDesign document and still not ideal.

Click on the Creative Cloud icon in your menu bar (mac) or your task bar (windows) and hover over the icon of your photo and choose manage plan. Or you can just go to www.adobe.com and sign in with your Adobe ID and choose Manage Account from the main screen. Once on that page click on the Plans and Products button at the top of the screen and you should see your membership listed. Click on the Manage Plan button and then click the Cancel Plan link.

You have a few options for that. Data Merge is one, but also, if you're repeating the same card in every instance, you can setup a template and then just relink to the new card. Hope that helps!

If you create a brand new document and create layers and add content does it work as expected? If so, try doing a "save as" and choosing .idml from the drop down menu. Now open that .idml file and see if the problem persists.

Exporting InCopy stories from InDesign will maintain all XML tags throughout the process. You should be creating the InCopy stories from within InDesign by choosing Edit > InCopy > Export > Selection or All Stories. This will generate an InCopy file (.icml) for each story in your InDesign document. You can then open each story directly in InCopy or open the InDesign file in InCopy to make edits. When viewing the content in InCopy, make sure you are showing your tag markers so you can see where the XML content is tagged. See screen shot below.
