Further, strange results: a query to fetch all images in which all metadata contain __ or all metadata contain __, and so forth, a total of (7) 'or' clauses, yields far more than the desired set, perhaps close to the entire population. I have no clue what is going on here. Everything had been behaving so well in the past has gone . . . berserk. I don't know how else to describe it. Next step may be to try to refine the query to a single property, that I can find, and/or perhaps revise the entire dataset so that it will be more easily/reliably searchable, etc.

After shutdown and restart, there is still no content in Bridge collections residing i external drives, although collections residing on my local system _are_ surviving. Problem is, collection derived from external drives are too big for local hard drive. I need access to those via external drive.

In all past restarts, Bridge opened with all collections repopulated. This time, however, that did not occur. Path names to image folders refer to my user name, rather than to the external drive where the images actually reside. I _can_ manually recreate the some of the important collections, but am not optimistic about survival after a restart/shutdown. After posting this I will, however, make a complete shutdown, see if any improvement occurs, and will post a reply here. Thanks in advance.

Wondering how/where to specify that the character color of a new para. type shall duplicate that of the ancestor para. type. This seems somehow related to the fact that the character color of the ancestor is not in the list of character colors for the new para. type. So, what is going on here? What am I missing? I'm getting increased saturation of some colors of jpg images (compared to their appearance in Photoshop or Bridge), when placing them into my inDesign document. If this is a known effect that can be avoided, please advise; otherwise, I will attempt carefully to desaturate affected colors prior to placing, in what could become a potentially tedious, trial-and-error process. Although I have noticed this behavior in the past, this time it is particularly egregious, and has to be 'toned down'. Pending a reply from one of you, I'll try the method described above. Best, jwc

I wondered if there was a character-set that would allow the server to ignore just a portion of a line of html, as in, for example: The quick brown fox jumped <<under>>over the lazy dog’s back, where all content between << . . . >> would be ignored. A. So long as the resolution is 300 dpi, does it make a difference whether the image is inserted as JPG or Adobe PSD? Heretofore I have been saving my PSD's as JPGs prior to inserting them into my Adobe Indd. Now I'm wondering if that is required. After all, the whole document is exported to PDF prior to sending to printer, anyway. B. And by the way, nearly every PDF sent to my third-party production printer triggers a warning about color profiles, etc. Not sure of the details; perhaps I should upload them here more explicitly, on next encounter. In any case, I have been ignoring those warnings for years as (1)I do not know of any alternate workflow that would avoid them, and (2) results have been fine. Thanks, jwc

When I go to save an edited image to a location different from where the image was edited, the prompt goes only to the top-level folder of the selected drive. Would one of you please show me how to dig deeper into the folder tree [if possible], in order to navigate to the desired location to save the altered file. I cannot imagine that Adobe does not offer this option, but if in fact it does not exist, I would urge Adobe to place it high on the queue for the next update. Best, jwc

Have done this before, but cannot repeat it now. My book has a spine that needs content. Spine object has been created as a portion of the cover based on a template provided by my printing outsource. I moved the spine object away from the main document and rotated it 90 degrees counterclockwise so that I could type into it. What I _seem to be seeing_ is that the string of typed characters is running displaced 90 degrees from the rotated, horizontal spine. (very strange, to me). Wondering what I'm missing here. In the meantime I will try to type into the un-rotated spine, to see if I can manage that. Best, jwc

Thanks; I realize the displays vary in different context settings, but what I am finding is that the set of available fonts differs, especially with the Berlin family that I like to use in my documents. Here are screen shots to show you what I am seeing. First, a portion of the Type | Fonts list: Next, a screen shot of available fonts when I go to create a paragraph style: BerlinSans and BerlinSans FBDemi are missing from the first set, and BerlinSans FB Demi Bold and BerlinSans Light are missing from the second set. This is the inconsistency that I am trying to understand. I would like both lists of Berlin fonts to be complete. I am quite certain that I have used fonts from the first set in prior documents that I have created, and equally certain that the current document was spawned from an template created from a prior document. When editing my document in inDesign 2017.1, if I go to Type | Fonts I get a nice long list that includes the one that I would like to use on a new paragraph style that I am creating. However, when I go to the 'Font' drop-down for selecting the font in my paragraph style, the desired style is not showing up. Case in point: desired style is Berlin FB, which shows up in 'Type | Fonts'. However, when I try to select that font face in the 'paragraph style' font drop-down, only 'Berlin' (unqualified) shows up. 'Berlin' [alone] is, BTW, NOT present in 'Type | Fonts'. So, I'm somewhat confused by what is going on here. Any ideas appreciated. Best, jwc

Thanks, and you are right, I had neglected to select the cells that I wanted to refor at. That would explain why there was no change. In the meantime, I looked further at my table by magnifying the view, and found some anomalies, so that my best course of action was to delete and re-create the table, which is now what I am in the process of doing. I would like to present a small table (2 cols x 9 rows) without any lines. In Table Setup I set the Body Border weight to zero. However, I have forgotten how to 'zero-out' the cell borders. Well. This becoming increasingly complex. On my iMac, where I develop and deploy my html content, when I went to place the new image into my html source, a selection box came up with a list of files in the folder, I scrolled down and selected the folder, and saved and ‘put’ the site. In D-W Live View all is fine except for this one graphic file, which does not update locally nor remotely. Both Safari and Google Chrome show the same ‘Alt’ text rather than the image itself. However, the LINK, to which the missing graphic is supposed to point, works fine. Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome on my wWidows machine cannot find my site at all, http:/fusion.enwphotos.com <http://fusion.enwphotos.com/>. There used to be another, default web btowser (Internet Explorer; has that fallen by the wayside in Windws 10?); in any case, I cannot find it on my Windows 10 laptop.

I changed an image on local folder tree, then saved and put the files. New file does not appear locally, nor on the remote site.Changes to the home page, however, _have_ been correctly updated. When working along with D/W and posting new graphical images on my local site, live content is not immediately refreshed. I never know when that is done: sometimes at random, or when other updates occur. I just created a new web site (actually am rebuilding an existing one; all content on local and remote-server locations is already in place).
