Does this InDesign file link to another InDesign file? That is, is an INDD file placed in it?

I find it more intuitive to change tabs in context. Select, or simply insert the cursor into, a paragraph using the desired style and edit the tab positions in the tab ruler, which you can position above the selected text. You can’t do that when editing the style. Once the tabs are adjusted go to the Paragraph Style panel and select Redefine Style from the fly out menu. Any formatting that is different from the style definition will be applied to the definition and all paragraphs using that style will adjust. So make sure only the tabs are different, not the font, size, colour, or anything else.

Bleed in your PDF will allow anything that extends into the bleed in your document to show. It won’t create a bleed for any image or object that was not created with a bleed. For example, that first image with the yellow graphic at the bottom looks like an imported graphic that bleeds and a drawn frame that doesn’t. To give us a better idea of how the file was set up show screen captures of both the PDF and the InDesign file. Make sure you are not in Preview mode and that guides and frame edges are showing.

First, there is no Apply button. For the most part, anything entered in a panel is real time. Enter a point size in the Character panel and the text changes size. Select a swatch or enter colour values in the Swatches or Colour panel and the selection changes colour. Change the Text Wrap options and the text (if there is any that applies) will wrap around the selected object. However, there are limits when applying text wrap to an anchored object. Text wrap will apply to text in other frames and text that follows the anchor in the current text frame only. Text that precedes the anchor will be unaffected. This is likely because it could cause a recursive loop other wise. Text flow determines where the anchor is. Anchor applies text wrap. Text wrap repositions anchor. LRR. See here. The circle is at the beginning of the paragraph that begins, “Odisque evelit faci…”. Text before the circle in the above paragraph cannot wrap around the circle. Only the text following the anchored object can wrap. If I positioned the anchor earlier in the frame and either dragged it or used Anchor Object Options to position it lower I could wrap both paragraphs.

Because that page break is a paragraph, and that paragraph has numbering applied. Add the break at the end of the last paragraph you want on that page.

Use tabs, not tables. There is nothing there that requires a table. Use the Next Style attribute of your Paragraph Styles to alternate colours. You can then apply the Header (or whatever) style to the top row by selecting all the text and going to Apply "[Style]" then Next Style by right-clicking on the header style in the Paragraph Styles panel.

Add a tab to the end of the paragraph with a tab stop at the right edge of the text frame. Use a custom underline on the tab. Make this a Character Style (its only attribute is the Underline) and apply it using Nested Styles. Edit: Rob Day beat me to it.

I suggested Illustrator 8 .AI files, since I see no reason to use EPS as we also provide PDF files. Each logo must be saved in White, Black, Process blue, and Pantone blue versions for print and screen (except no Pantone for the RGB blue, so seven EPS files). Illustrator 3 files don’t support RGB. But this is the job and that is the requirement.

I am saving a bunch of logos in, among other formats, EPS. The EPS files are saved with these options… The files contain: One unfilled, unstroked path the size of the artboard Three squares as guides One group consisting of three (or sometimes two) compound paths That’s it. no yet, no links, no embedded images. I was provided a sample of some files saved with the same options. Those files are each about 600 KB. My files are about 1 MB when saved in CMYK, but only about 450 KB when saved in RGB. I cannot think of anything to account for the larger file size. I don’t know if the size will matter to my client, but I do have about 3000 of these files to save. If I can take about 400 KB off the size I will save 1.2 GB of space. Not chicken feed. Illustrator CC2015 MacOS Sierra I have tried saving from Illustrator 2017, Illustrator CS6, and Illustrator CS5. I figured it out. I had a Hazel action I forgot about that opened any PNG or JPG file ending with 300 and opened it in a Photoshop Droplet. I abandoned that workflow and deleted the droplet, so I guess Hazel was opening the images in Preview. I deleted the action and that solved the problem.

The filetypes are set to open in Preview, and I have no desire to change that. At least Preview is staying in the background, so I can continue to run my action in Photoshop. I think it would be worse if they opened in Photoshop. I want them to open not at all, just be converted and left in their destination folder. There is no reason for them to open and nothing I can see that I am doing that would require them to open.

I am running a bunch of conversions in Photoshop from EPS to four different formats: 72 ppi JPG, 72 ppi PNG, 300 ppi JPG, and 300 ppi PNG. I do this with four passes through File > Automate > Batch, because the destinations and filenames are a bit different for each file. After running the batch sometimes (I have not detected a pattern) the files open in Preview. Why is this happening and how can I prevent it? MacOS Sierra, Photoshop CC 2017. You have misunderstood my question. The resolution of the image is fine. The names that the batch action is generating are not. An unwanted digit is added to the filenames the batch action creates. However, this Image Processor Pro intrigues me. I do not have it in my version of Photoshop. Is this a plug-in? 2017 release on Mac OS Sierra.

I have a folder of EPS files i need to rasterize to 300 ppi PNG, 300 ppi JPG, 72 ppi PNG, and 72 ppi JPEG. I made four actions, each of which opens the EPS file at the appropriate resolution then saves in the appropriate format. I am using File > Automate > Batch to convert the files, running the command four times. once for each action. I am using the File Naming feature to add the resolution to the converted file. My dialogue looks like this… When the action is run I expect to see Logo_Black.eps convert to Logo_Black300.png, and so on. This is not happening. Each converted file has a number added after the filename but before the added resolution. In other words, Logo_Black300.png is saved as Logo+Black3300.png. All converted files have the 3 added to them. The next time I run the action, for 300 ppi JPG images, I get Logo_Black4300.jpg, etc. Photoshop is adding an unwanted digit and incrementing it whenever the action is run. It's not a serial number, because I am not using the feature and it is not incrementing for each file, just each batch operation. I have to run this on EPS 12 files, producing 48 images. I have to do this for 110 logos. Over 5000 files to rename. I would appreciate it if I didn’t have to do that. [Moved from non-technical Forum Lounge to Photoshop Scripting forum... You need to explain your problem better, preferably with screen shots. Show a screen capture from Illustrator with the transparency grid visible, as well as screen captures from, as you say, phone or email.

Well there’s your problem. You have forced line breaks, not carriage returns, between paragraphs. The text is behaving as it should, since it is just one paragraph. Search for ^n Change to ^p

Are you pasting text from another application? Does the indented paragraph use a different paragraph style from the unindented paragraph? Does the definition for the indented style use the Next Style attribute to call the non-indented style?

You could use GREP in Find/Change to replace any characters after a certain point with an ellipsis. This would be a Find/Change, not GREP Styles. I am a noob at GREP, but I am confident some help can be found. You want something like Everything after the first space after the first XX characters. To limit the search make sure you use a unique paragraph style for just the cells in Description.

Is this what you are after? I drew a small line with no stroke and pasted it as an anchored object at the end of a paragraph. I positioned it using custom options in Anchored Object Options and applied a text wrap that’s at least equal to the column width. When InDesign applies text wrap to an anchored object the only text affected is later in the story. So the wrap won’t affect the text in the current paragraph or in earlier columns, it can only affect the top line of the following paragraph. Use an object style to consistently format the wrap and anchor options. Copy the object then use GREP to insert it at the end of every paragraph. Use Find/Change. You can set the scope of the Find /Change command to all open documents (but no closed ones). Click More Options if necessary then click on the Find Format panel and select the font to replace. Click on the Change Format panel and select the font you want to use. Click Change All. It can miss some uses of fonts. If you are using custom styles for numbers or bullets those will be missed because the text (the bullets or numbers) is formatting, not content. You can’t select those characters, you have to edit the formatting that adds them. This will change all fonts, but it won’t redefine styles. If you have been diligent about using styles I suggest you make the change there. It won’t be global, meaning you will have to repeat the change for each document, and for each style in the document. But it will be better.

I have the same problem. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. For a while I thought the issue was the width of the entire column had to be visible for InDesign to snap the ruler. But even then it sometimes doesn’t work. So I just leave it, since the guide it shows when adding tabs it usually enough. If I have to have it in the right place I move it there. Using CC 2015 mostly since I teach a course and the school’s computers will not be upgraded until the end of the semester.
