Before you output a single PDF, check with your printer for the spine width. It is dependent on the paper width and page count. They can give you an accurate spine width.

I just wanted to add: it took me a little while to learn this lesson. It's well-spelled out deep in Adobe documentation, but it's given only cursory attention if it's mentioned at all in most InDesign training courses and workbooks.
So don't feel bad about learning things like this on the fly. It's one of many practical lessons InDesign users learn by error, then trial, as they work with the program. I often tell folks I train that I don't know these things because I'm Rhodes Scholar bright — I'm not — but because I've already screwed up that way.

I have a simple task but I have to do it repeatedly throughout the entire book and it's going to be such a pain in the ass
By @mohammed_sami
And what task is that specifically? Maybe a script can do this.

Yeh I will need to access the computer I made it on which was Mac but not near that now.
I'm on windows laptop at the moment - lets give it a go
This is very bizarre behaviour
You can see the anchored object it's anchored at the very first line.
Earlier it worked on the mac by anchoring to the bottom of the frame - maybe that still works.
But as soon as I put it at the top with a Negative Inline amount - it forces the roundness...
Weird

Hi @rhinestonelife,
I appreciate all the troubleshooting you’ve done! Are you still on 19.5.1, or have you upgraded to InDesign 20.2? Let me know if the issue persists. Looking forward to your update!

Do you save your AI file with PDF compatibility.
Or save as PDF and use that.

Lab numbers for PANTONES and profiled CMYK, are different colors, if you set them up as Brand Colors you need to appreciate that they are not the same colour. It reads like you sent tests to 3 different printers sending Spot Colour Lab Numbers for PANTONE and DeviceCMYK(unprofiledCMYK). You should expect different colors back but the Lab Numbers should be closest. checkout https://www.projectbbcg.guide/ You should expect different results because DeviceCMYK

I'm a fan of FontAgent, and I do still have it installed, but like Bob and Dave, I'm finding I don't really use a font manager. I think I keep FontAgent installed because I was a beta tester for it in the early days and I'm sentimental 🙂 That said, I think it's solid, relatively easy to use, and gets the job done.

How about something like this - should I start a new thread?
Object is selected - NO COLOR to stroke applied - but I CAN change Stroke's tint...
Which results in [Black] being automatically applied:
But what's worse - text goes into an overset - even when there is enough space for the Page Number marker??
AND it doesn't get fixed/updated on regular pages - same contents and size of both TFs:
The only way to fix it is to change the width of the TextFrame from "105.853 mm" by "0.3306 mm".

@Kelli Jae Baeli
Do you use parent page items?
Can you share your document - will be much quicker to diagnose the problem.
If you prefer to do it privately - please click my nickname, but then you'll have to upload your INDD file somewhere first and then send me a link.

I usually save all my Photoshop files in either TIF or PSD or PDF formats. TIF is for any image with no transparency (The layers panel shows only the Background layer). PSD is for images with trasparency or layers. PDF is for images that have vectors that I want to preserve. There's no practical difference between most formats, but by saving flattened images as TIF I know what images have transparency and might need extra attention.

Thanks for the explanation Scott. This seems to be a persistent problem for InDesign users. This is a behind the scenes issue that is also a user problem. It looks like this is something Adobe needs to fix.

By @morsy74
This will mean that you've fonts duplicated - installed in the System and / or in Adobe's own folder and / or in the Fonts subfolder.

Well, endless refinements but any of these changes would be about 176% more time than was put into the layout in the first place. It looks like way too much of the "mirror the code" settings, terminology and thought I had to argue against back in the days when I worked more closely with what we used to call programmers.
Not sure that frequency of use is a strong factor; making it Previous/Next follows logical layout thinking. And an overall rethink of the panel to integrate Previous/Together/Next would be worth considering as well.
But mostly, I just want to stop banging my head on the desk when I hit each new post of "Why won't that last line stay in the first column? I've checked EVERYTHING!"

Let's just encourage Adobe to make a full-fledged INDD file viewer. 😐
That way no production, distribution, spec, comp or email document would ever be left behind again, whether you created it or not.

I was not meaning to imply Adobe. I don't know the specifics of the situation. Just meant somebody involved with "they" because somebody did do away with them.

(I'm 4 years late but hopefully this is still useful for anyone who finds their way here) The same kind of thing was happening with me, and I realized there was a also character style applied to this chunk of text. I hadn't created the character style -- it buried in the Word doc my client had given me -- so wasn't on my mind to look for until reading the ideas in this thread. Bad character style deleted, and everything is now as it should be 🙂

Do you mean you are in Acrobat and using the Edit Object tool to open Illustrator to edit it, then replacing that object in the PDF? Or, if not that, how are you doing this?
I did a couple of tests with CC2025 and am not seeing this issue.
What is your System and versions?
