Possibility 1. You opened a different catalog or a new catalog. Verify that the correct catalog is open. The name of the catalog is at the top of the application window. If you look in the Pictures folder (My Pictures) you should see a Lightroom Folder. That will contain your catalog(s). Verify there is only one and that is the one you are opening. Possibility 2. You moved the files on your hard drive. This would leave preview files in the Library of the catalog but they will have "!" in their corners and the folders in the Folder Panel will have "?" on them. If so, right click on the topmost folder and select "Find Missing Folder" Possibility 3. You "removed" the files from the catalog. In this case you will need to reimport them but you will have no records of the edits. Possibility 4. You "deleted" the files from your hard drive via Lightroom. This is the worst case scenario. It seems there might be some terminology confusion here. I will try to ascertain what you have done and what you may have intended. When you export files from Lightroom they are version or copies of the originals (unless you specifically state "original" in the export options. So if you started with Raw files and exported jags then the Raw files are still where they were on your hard drive. There is no need to re-import the jpg files. They can be discarded. If you open the catalog that contains the links to the raw files you can re-export more jpgs at a suitable size. If you have the app in full screen mode it will take its own desktop. This is not limited to Adobe apps. Since the Keyboard shortcuts are used access "Desktops" then you can only access those named "Desktop 1" or "Desktop 2". To access other apps using their own desktops or more than 2 desktops I recommend using the keyboard shortcut of Cmd+Tab or the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl + (Left Arrow/Right Arrow). Are you able to save files from any other program to the NAS via the iMac? The issue of permissions indicated exactly that. It is probably related to hoiw you have your NAS setup. Launch the Control Panel for the NAS in a browser and check over the settings for       SMB/AFP/NFS  You will need to make sure AFP is enabled. Next find any folder in the NAS (again from within the browser) and look at the permisions for it. You can have multiple users for the NAS with varying permissions. Make sure the user account use log in to the NAS with has the appropriate permissions. I am not an expert with Networks but I have been using a Synology NAS for a few years now with zero issues relating to saving a PSD file from Photoshop. If they stop paying for Lightroom they will lose access to the program and will not be able to open the catalog. This is not to suggest that they will not be able to open it on a friends machine that does have a subscription to Lightroom. Or if they decided to get a trial version or pay for a single month just to make decisions on how to proceed. They will not lose access to your images as they are organized on your computer and Lightroom merely references them. Those file alone will not have any of your changes or metadata associated with them UNLESS, you have chosen to write xmp files either automatically via the Lightroom Catalog settings > Metadata or by Ctrl+S as you go. The xmp files contain data about the processing and keyboarding you assigned to the images. This should be readable in the foreseeable future. This looks Like normal behavior. In your unclipped examples the curves are darkening or lightening the entire image, including the background layer. In your clipped examples the curves are only acting on the layer immediately below. Either darkening or lightning the pixel content. The reds go darker but still remain color. The background "white" is untouched by this curves move. As for the histograms. They are relating the information that is available. In the unclipped example a lot of the grey/white/light tones are available from the background layer. In the clipped example there is no solid grey/white/light tone available so the spikes on the left and right are a direct selection of what is in the layer below. ... View more

I used the font Hiragino Maru Gothic ProN to draw a single parenthesis. Then I converted it to a shape. Then I used the Direct selection tool (white arrow) to draw a marquee around the shape. Using Option/Command +T (Ctrl / Alt +T) I duplicated the shape and flipped it horizontal. To get the contextual menu press control and click on the transform box. Then I moved the copy of the parenthesis an appropriate distance according to your diagram. Is it possible you are confusing the name of the clone stamp tool with a stamp-like action like that of a rubber stamp on paper.? You could easily create a custom brush or a custom shape which would act as your "stamp" whenever you wanted to add a watermark. Technically Lightroom does not work on a server or NAS - IF the catalog is stored on the NAS or server. But if the catalog is in the pictures folder and the images are on the server there is no issue. (I use a Synology Server) @HepSuker 1. Copy the Folder containing the Lightroom Catalog and the Preview files to your Pictures folder on your Mac. 2. Open the Lightroom Catalog. 3. You will see that all the images have a "!" icon in the upper right of the thumbnails and the Folders are greyed. 4. Right Click (Ctrl+Click) on the topmost folder and select Update Folder Location. 5. Navigate to the correct folder on the WD Cloud device. Select Choose. All the folders should now appear normal in Lightroom and the images lose all the "!" icons. The Folder that you copied containing the Lightroom Catalog and preview files can now be deleted from the WD Cloud device. It will REMAIN in your Pictures folder on your Mac. The edits and adjustment are recorded in the lightroom catalog. Put your files in the correct location on your hard drive then from within Lightroom click the "!" mark on one of the files and select Locate. Find the file in question and link it. You'll get a dialog: The file will be reconnected, the Lightroom catalog will reflect the original name. As @dj_paige notes you willl have to do this for each file. OR. If you don't need an exact replica you can create a similar effect. Note the mask you are seeing is invoked with the alt/opt key while sliding the mask slider.
