I'm looking into Resolve, if the tool's better it makes sense to use it, and I do like their business model over Adobe's. But as a user of After Effects, PrPro, Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom and Audition it's hard (not impossible) to replace all those apps and I do enjoy using them (mostly). Getting back to the focus of this thread, a few little tweaks like this can make a big difference. If only extra attention was given to workflow issues / ideas like this, that have been raised and upvoted for years, but not addressed properly (please take note Adobe staff)!

Also adding my annoyance to the chain. Big project with many bins of video clips that I need to view in Icon View. Every time I open the project I have to manually go through each bin and scroll through the clips in Icon View to get all the thumbnails to load before I can do actual editing work... it wastes my time and is super annoying. Please, please just add the option to cache the Icon View thumbnails.

Thanks @JohnColombo, I am using the Javascript method as the default in my scripts now with a fallback to Applescript and so far I have not had any bug reports about my scripts failing (only one, but it seems to be related to another system wide issue in general). Unfortunately I don't have a Mac that's compatible with 2025 atm, but hope to test again soon.

When I switch from Classic 3D to Advanced 3D in the latest version of After Effects it alters my footage luma levels. Initially I thought it was a bug, but then I discovered that it can be recovered using curves and also by adding an Ambient light and adjusting the settings (set Ambient to 100% and everything else to 0%) - see video link example. - https://vimeo.com/1023856696/edddc7255a?share=copy Is this expected behaviour?

Short update that in some reported user cases installing the new Ae2025 reset / fixed the permissions issue, and also uninstalling old versions also seemed to change or modify the Ae permissions on MacOS.

Posting this incase others are having similar issues or know solutions - I utilise MacOS Applescript in an Ae product (BlenderAe) from the command line https://ae-scripting.docsforadobe.dev/introduction/overview.html#running-scripts-from-the-command-line-a-batch-file-or-an-applescript-script and some users are reporting that it's not working with Ae2024 but works perfectly fine with Ae2023 on the same machine. In my own tests I was able to replicate the issue - DoScriptFile was indeed freezing up and not reaching Ae2024 until I added it to the 'Privacy & Security > Full Disk Access'. But this solution did NOT work for the users that reported the problem, and even re-installing After Effects 2024 hasn't helped them. I'm currently waiting for them to try `sudo tccutil reset All com.adobe.AfterEffects` from the terminal. I don't have the latest mac to test personally atm, so any other ideas on fixing this would be appreciated.

I'm also experiencing the issue of Applescript not working for Ae2024 in one of my products (BlenderAe), but working fine for Ae2023 even though all the preferences and settings seem identical (including allowing Full Disk Access)... any solution would be greatly appreciated!

This worked for me also! Project clips (4K MXF shot of Canon C70) started throwing errors and refused to play after restarting PrPro multiple times. Holding Shift and resetting plugin cache and clip cache, and working great again.

Hi, I've been testing the Blender glTF (glb) to After Effects workflow and there is a mismatch and incorrect conversion between the glTF exported file and the Blender rendered scene. (See video) With the glTF export the 50mm camera is created in After Effects with a 48.5268mm focal length that visually doesn't match the render. If this is manually changed to 50mm it matches the perspective correctly. Also the timing of the animation is wrong and there seems to be no way to alter or interpret it except by changing the Time remapping / speed which still doesn't work in my tests. https://youtu.be/vBsaSgYbqec

When a panel is temporarily maximised with the tilde key '~' it unmaximises as soon as you switch tools (except for Selection, Hand, Zoom oddly). For example maximise then switch from the selection tool to the pen tool to modify a path. It's quite minor, but one of those annoying "I wish it didn't do that" things.

Please update the Slideshow module 'Export Video...' feature. It is seriously outdated and has not been updated since 2015 as far as I am aware, BUT it could be great and seamless with Lr photo collections if updated... It still uses an old version of Windows 7/8(?) Explorer User Interface! Why? It does not allow 4K - https://community.adobe.com/t5/lightroom-classic-ideas/p-ability-to-export-4k-video/idi-p/12248648 It has a set frame rate of 29.97 which is annoying and also causes overlaps on images at the cut points. It freezes for unknown reasons every so often. Many people still utilise simple slideshows (I would go so far as to say almost every family in first world countries will at some point want to make a slideshow for a family member) and Lightroom has the potential to make this easy! But alas, at the present time my workflow involves using Lr to manage photo's and create a simple slideshow, then import to Pr to re-export at the right frame rate and fix overlapping images due to the 29.97 frame rate.

It's 2023 and I am still stuck with slideshow video exporting causing issues... The user interface is super old Windows 7/8 (?)... what, why? No 4K The output framerate is always 29.97 which also causes glitches of photo's overlapping each other on the cuts between images. It fails or freezes randomly.

I've found that I need to create simple ken-burns stlye slideshows for clients and events quite often. Since I have my images in Lightroom already it makes perfect sense to use the Slideshow Module... except that it looks like it hasn't been updated in years and has an array of issues...
Unable to specify frame rate,
Black frames or overlapping frames between many slides (possibly due to 29.97 preset frame rate?).
Glitches when using cross fades (Windows)
Clunky old-stlye Explorer navigation on Windows when selecting music.
Images don't scale up to fill the frame (clients don't always provide perfect resoluton images)
Limited to 1080p resolution
Pan and zoom isn't true pan and zoom, it crops the edges out as it zooms.
Exporting doesn't always work on my system (Windows).
Lightroom is a great application and the slideshow module is useful and makes logical sense to be included, please give it some love and improve it!

'Face detection' and 'Address lookup' features are great... but a question arose recently about privacy and security recently with this technology in work projects. Is data such as faces local to each machine with lightroom on it... or is that data processed externally through a server / Adobe Sensei servers? ... I tried running face detection with no-internet connection and it seemed to work fine so I assume it's only local catalogue data that is created?
