Instead of having to keep locking threads.
It is not the first time that it happened to me, but it will soon be the last time, as I cannot stand this sort of thing much longer!I have just answered a plea for help in one of the product forums, with several links to KB articles and other resources. Reread the whole thing, then click [Post Message].Some red message appeared, that I have no right to post in this forum -- I had been logged out!Needless to say that using the browsers 'Back' buttons did not bring my post back!Needless to say that I did not retype my reply! That 24 hours login cycle is not by itself stupid - in fact other forums have that as well. But - but! - other forums log you out 24 hours after the last usage/presence, not 24 hours after login! ← That is stupid!
Who locked this thread and why?
Not only do the nubes asking the questions not really know if an answer is correct or not. But many people don't bother to list the question as answered or if they do they just mark the question as answered without handing out points. This point system is not well thought out.
Wow. There appears to be at least one remaining but in the jive software Here is a portion of the current page one of the Lightroom forum. I would have though that the poster's ID would have been truncated in some way instead of messing up the entire page format.RATS!I have trying to upload (using the 'camera' icon) a screenshot for 15 minutes and got tired of waiting. You'll have to go to the Lightroom forum to see what I mean. This software needs a LOT of work.
Forum Admin:FYI when attempting to change my profile pic this morning; It either errors out with this "The uploaded file could not be read as an image." or, just times out. Happens in the profile area and when attempting to attach an image to a post. Tried in both Google Chrome and Internet Explorer 8.
I think if we're going to be asked to respect and love the points it might be a good reciprocal start to dole out a few to the deserving. Can you undermine their legitimacy? I think not."The real issue here sailed right over your head, champ. But at least now we know the identity of Adobe’s Chief Apologist for Abysmal Customer Support. Stick to your little PS tips-n-tricks, scribbler. You don’t know squat about business."http://forums.adobe.com/message/2014660#2014660
We have been advised to upgrade from CS to CS4 before the upgrade path closes, however this will also entail upgrading 3 x G4's in our design studio as these won't run CS4 properly. By upgrading to Mac Pro's there will also be additional software updates we need to purchase, which in turn means we will have to update on other Macs on network. All in all an expensive business. As such I would be really grateful for some feedback as to benefits of CS4 or should we just continue with existing Suite until we find we are lagging behind and then bite the bullet and be prepared to spend out even more for full CS (we will probably be on CS5 by then)? Am i just delaying the inevitable?
Back in 2001 I was given FAQ making abilities for the Photoshop Mac forum. How do I get these back? Do I need to apply some where? Or is this another thing the Jive forum is incapable of doing?
The curious hiccup with the post that Harbs didn't make ( http://forums.adobe.com/message/2013838#2013838 ) seems to be spreading. Reading via email, I've noticed (at least) two messages today that have ended up in the wrong forum over the wrong signature. I'll put the full contents below so somebody (JC?) can have a look if he wants to.NoelX-Message-Delivery: Vj0xLjE7dXM9MDtsPTA7YT0wO0Q9MTtTQ0w9MA==X-Message-Status: n:0X-SID-PRA: ristozzX <forums@adobe.com>X-Message-Info: JGTYoYF78jEnIVSz1tGnalTngfOAEuBxZobsHeuDN2gArYI3KBerXWAV3rhFuZF5Y3h4Kx658KBsxBgNvw4iuCG0seVc3Fe9Received: from mail.sgaur.hosted.jivesoftware.com () by col0-mc4-f37.Col0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.3959); Thu, 4 Jun 2009 09:37:06 -0700Received: from sgaurwa41p (unknown ) by mail.sgaur.hosted.jivesoftware.com (Postfix) with ESMTP id 0853E24085BD for <jnllb@gmail.com>; Thu, 4 Jun 2009 10:37:06 -0600 (MDT)Date: Thu, 04 Jun 2009 10:37:05 -0600From: ristozzX <forums@adobe.com>Reply-T
If you understand what "Developer Release" is all about (and if you're using these fine forums who doesn't ?), Google Chrome has been released for people to take for a spin. More info here.
Why is it this forum allows users to insert Java, SQL, HTML and Plain - but no Actionscript?
I did NOT post this:http://forums.adobe.com/message/2013680#2013680Any ideas?I did post one email to this thread which never made it (and didn't get returned either). The cotent of the email had no connection to this though...Harbs
I used to use Corel Capture a lot. It was very easy and useful tool. I think it comes with CorelDraw. Is there any equivalent among Adobe programs? I have Illustrator CS and Photoshop CS, hoping one comes with them. Thanks
I'm curious what kind of speed folks are getting with these new forums. For my own experience, they're drastically slower than the older forums.Using Firefox 3 and 3.5b4, I get page load times of around 20 seconds on average for a page to fully load. IE8 is slower still. This is on a 768 DSL connection.Using the new Chrome browser, I get a more acceptable 2 second page load time on average. (Which clearly shows there's nothing wrong with my connection.)That is a VAST difference. With other web sites, Chrome and Firefox display pages in very similar time frames. It's only with these forums that Firefox is slowed to a crawl. I wonder if any forum techies can chime in with theories as to why?
Well, i guess the topic says it all....
posted in the InDesign forum.Sorry folks, but word has come down from above that abuse of the point system is counter-productive. There are management types that actually believe some users see points as an incentive to provide a quality answer, and that they wouldn't do so without the points, but that's not a widely held opinion among hosts. Nevertheless, I have to lock the thread, and warn you that at some point there will be official sanctions for those who post threads with the sole purpose of gaming the point system. If they don't want the point system abused then we need to do away with it. This forum is becoming less and less a place I want to help at. I think I will start looking for another Photoshop forum.
I was reading Joel on Software today and he was talking about "Stack Overflow" which is a very successful Q&A forum for programmers by programmers. Joel makes the point that the Stack Overflow board (which is similar to these forums in that it's a technical support forum) uses a point system. Joel goes on to write;"It’s not much of a secret, but Stack Overflow is already a great place to find good programmers, because you can see how good people really are by reading the answers that they post. I’ve noticed a lot of people putting their Stack Overflow reputations on their resumes, and we’re starting to hear stories of people who got jobs through the site. Jeff and I are committed to building features to make this easier in the next “six to eight” weeks. For example, I’ve always hated traditional resumes, which just don’t give the right kind of information about a candidate. If you wanted to hire an iPhone developer, would you rather know that person’s Stack Overflow stats in

Sorry if I got a little long-winded, and I don't know if it helps, but...Status = logged out (intentionally).New browser session.Upon browser open to any existing 'thread' or 'message' (basically, anywhere other than the front page in forums.acobe.com), links have jsessionid and so called "meatball" graphics are only showing as their respective alt attributes [User | Participant | Employee, etc.]If this initial page is a 'thread' page showing the subject headers ( http://forums.adobe.com/community/general/forum_comments?view=discussions ), I can click on a subject with no problem. The [Next] or [2] links merely append an octothorpe # do nothing whatsoever. If I click on the dated "last post" above "whoever" link on the right side, I see the Error 404 that others have mentioned. This appears to be the case whether this new session is opened to a "Discussions" page showing a list of subject headers (topics) or a "Message" thread showing messages in the thread (I am still trying to come to
I just reinstaled Page Maker 6.5 on my PC. Why won't it PLACE my word document? It give a message saying it doesn't recognize the format.EK
