Each time i try to install a new version of Adobe Acrobat Reader i get the error message “Error 1921 Service Adobe Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMservice) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to stop system services”.I don’t see any service called AdobeARMservice in my Services to stop. This is on my company windows 11 laptop and has been going on for about a year now hence i am stuck on version 2024.002.20895 and am constantly getting prompts to update that always fail.I raised a ticket with my company it department 9 months ago but they haven’t been able to fix it.How can i stop this error and update to the latest version please?thanks...
Followed the Adobe Help steps from the link. Ended background processes using end process tree, repaired the Adobe program, tried printing "Print as Image", disabled Protected Mode at startup. Clear corrupted data and cache (DC.old). After those failed, I uninstalled Adobe, wasn’t uninstalling, ran the official Adobe Acrobat Cleaner Tool, rebooted, and performed a fresh reinstallation of Adobe Reader from Software Center (version 25.001.20693 x64). Same error. Previously there was a newer Adobe version installed on 7/27/2026 as listed in Control Panel - Installed programs (I have not installed it). Still can’t print.
Hi all. I'm posting this in the hopes that it might help someone else out that may have the same symptom. Last week, my Adobe Reader stopped printing. Nothing I did produced any result. Not hitting the print icon. Not hitting CTRL+P. Not selecting "print" from the drop-down menu. There was no error message. No nothing. It was as if I hadn't clicked anything. I tried repairing the installation, no help. I've rebooted the computer many times over the last couple weeks. Here's what finally fixed it. On a whim, I went to Windows Explorer, right-clicked on the PDF file, and selected "print" from Explorers context menu. Adobe flashed open for a sec, and the document printed. Now, Adobe Reader prints as it always used to do. There must have been some little "glitch" or something going on.Problem solved. Hope this helps someone else.Artie
Hello,Has anyone else had an issue using Ctrl + C to copy highlighted text in version 26.001.21745? The first time I try it with a PDF I get “Failed to load an application resource (internal error). Thanks,Andrew
Microsoft randomly closed my file I was working on today saying I need to increase disk storage. As Adobe Acrobat was ne of the bigger files I went to transfer the program files from my Operating System to user data. I was unsucessful and had to cancel transfer but most of it did but not without causing it to stop working. Called Adobe who referred me to Microsoft who then referred me to Adobe who advised me to uninstall and reinstall it. Now wants me to login in even though I never had an account and now had to register my university account to make this post.
I know this is similar questions have been asked before, but most of the discussions are full of people echoing that they have the same problem, and Adobe employees suggesting solutions that evidently don't work for many (me included). So I wanted to check if any new solution has emerged. It scrolls in an incredibly laggy fashion irrespective of the file size and the number of tabs opened at once. My computer doesn't have the Disable new Acrobat option which has been suggested a few times. I have also tried the method of changing security settings without any improvement. I would rather not go through the entire uninstalling and reinstalling process again because I tried that and saw no change, and it was a pain. Hi, I have multiple pdf files which included table content in these pdf files. How to import to excel to different sheets in one files? Thanks.
Previously reported at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172842 where it was confirmed by another user (running Windows 11) but not resolved. I am running Windows 10.I downloaded the Libre Office user guide and opened it. Acrobat Reader crashed.I downloaded it again and did a binary compare - both versions were identical, and Acrobat Reader crashes each time.I open hundreds of PDFs and have never seen Acrobat Reader crash before.I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader version 2026.001.21691 (64 bit).I checked for updates and at the time of writing there are none.I opened the file in PDF Creator v11.30.1 which did not crash.Procedure to trigger the crash:Open https://books.libreoffice.org/en/ -Clicking “Download PDF” button opens https://nextcloud.documentfoundation.org/s/rbd2ipG6RP8F779I click the three dots on the LH side of the black bar and downloaded the file.Opening that file crashes Acrobat Reader.User guide details:File timestamp: 2026-07-10 10:25:28File size: 28,042,3
I feel like this should be simple but obviously I'm missing something. I updated my Acrobat reader to DC. I have the free desktop version, not premium or anything. I can't figure out how to make a bookmark for the life of me. Is that function no longer available for free users? There's no icon to create a bookmark and I've looked all up and down through the navigation pane and there's no bookmarks tab anywhere. Are bookmarks gone or just gone for free users?
Hi, I wanted to make changes to a PDF file. When I clicked the edit button, I was prompted to download another version of Acrobat Reader. So I accepted the terms and conditions. Then it started to download. When I click on the "modify PDF" button again, I get a message like this (I translate from French): "Other tool components are being installed. We will notify you when you can use the tool." This is absolutely ridiculous. It's 10:07 pm. The download must have started around 10:00 am. Why is the download taking so long? If anyone has any information on this, it would be appreciated! Thank you very much, Guillaume
One of my colleagues have been experiencing an issue when attempting to use CTRL + C on a document. When copying it would throw up the error “Failed to load an application resource (Internal error)”Afterwards, they are able to use the copy shortcut normally. When attempting to copy via right click the error doesn’t show. This happens the first time they open up adobe acrobat reader. Closing the reader, opening up the same document and attempting to CTRL+C shows the same error again. I’ve reinstalled Acrobat reader already and the error is still persisting.
I attempted to download a .pdf ‘Wise’ bank statement to my Samsung phone, but got the message:“Error The document cannot be opened because it is corrupted or damaged”So I tried on the the laptop and got the message:"There was an error while opening this document. Bad parameter".Not only did this apply to the statement I was trying to download, but I found this applies to ALL .pdf documents on the computer.I uninstalled and reinstalled Adobe, but that didn’t work and opening the Adobe Home page I got the message: “Unable to display Recent files”I can open .pdfs through Chrome or other browsers, so all is not lost. However, that’s not the point - any ideas on how I restore Adobe? With many thanks,Tim
Adobe is now forcing me to go to the cloud every time I get a notification email that a document is signed. Is there a way to change this back to getting the PDF attached in the email with the notification the document is signed? This is annoying as it requires multiple steps to sign in, download, and then move the document/rename. It also doesn’t allow an easy second location of the document in archived emails for future needs.
When I attempt to login to Adobe to access my stored signature and initials (and other features) I can successfully navigate the login prompt in a browser, but when I return to the app it is in a frozen state. The only feedback is the error ping with every mouse click. Please assist.
Virus: when attempting to install Adobe Reader, two additional viruses are installed. one named McAfee and another named Adobe Express Photos. The moment a program enters my computer without permission, scans files, and spreads across the system without authorization, it becomes a virus.
Hi, We use Windows OS and Adobe Reader as our main PDF reader at our company. Since there are various attack vectors and vulnerabilities in Reader, Adobe provides a reference guide with most of the options that can be enabled or disable to mitigate this.[0] The ADMX template[1], that can be installed int the component store has not been updated since 2015!!! There is no easy way to add or update the ADMX template, because the Preference Reference list[0] is ONLY a vieweable HTML page. Why Adobe does not provide an updated ADMX template with all of the lastest updates or changes ? And even the preference reference list does not contain, for example, registry key on how to DISABLE or ENABLE so called "Generative AI". [2] The registry key "bEnableGentech" is not even mentioned in the [0] preference list. I am aware that there are 3rd party solutions, such as, NIST template[3] or Powershell ADMX generator[4] but this does not solve the main issue. Adobe, please, ta
Good afternoon. I'm encountering an Adobe installation error; I've already tried various versions and user accounts, and even formatted the machine twice, but nothing solves the issue.
Hi, I would like to cancel the Adobe Reader that I I applied for the free, I thought you guys will ask for authorization before taken from my bank, As I found the Adobe very complicated and not helpful. Can you please cancel My adobe reader account and pay back the $ 14.99. Thank you
I need to create a court disclosure document for a case - a Disclosure is meant to be every piece of communication and documents sent back and forth within a legal case. I have tried to combine all of my documents to make 1 PDF for the Disclosure. However, a few of the documents said they were Secure Documents and Password protected. They aren't password protected to view the documents in the sense that you cannot view them. You can open them, you just can't edit them. These documents will not merge into the overall Combined document to create 1 PDF disclosure which is very frustrating. Does Adobe Acrobat have a function that will allow me to add these secure documents into my Combined PDF disclosure? It's legally necessary and I cannot work around it. If Adobe doesn't have this, it would be really helpful if they would create functionality to allow a person to add any document to the disclosure whilst still maintaining their security.... I don't need to edit them. I just need to add t
Tested and validated on Adobe Acrobat Reader DC v2026.001.21662 (Windows 11) 1. Context and privacy warningSince v26, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC includes a generative AI Assistant. When a PDF is opened, the assistant automatically suggests contextual questions (e.g. "Why is this information important?").⚠️ Warning — data transfer to AdobeIf the AI Assistant is enabled and the user interacts with it, the content of the PDF is sent to Adobe's AI servers. This applies to any open document, including confidential documents or documents subject to legal obligations (NDAs, personal data, professional secrecy, etc.). It may be recommended to disable this feature in some professional environments.Below are two registry-based methods, depending on whether you want a hard lockdown or just a default-off setting. 2. METHOD 1 - Global lockdown (machine level)This method completely blocks the AI Assistant for all users of the machine. Users cannot re-enable it from the preferences (the Generative AI ca
Hello guys. I am using adobe acrobat reader on MacBook air 2020, MacOS Big Sur. I could use commad + P before in case to export some pages of a PDF to a new PDF file. But it's been a while when try to do this I get this Error: Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer. I have already uninstalled and reinstall the application but still it doesn't work.
I need to sign a PDF document for work, but I am not sure how to add my signature using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Is there an easy way to create and add a digital signature without printing the document first? Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, My organization has a use case where we need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat Standard installed simultaneously for certain users. It looks like as of Reader/Acrobat 26.001.21651, the Print dialog in Reader does not display the list of software printers correctly. For example, the Microsoft Print to PDF option prints to a different printer when selected, and shows that other printer’s properties when Properties is clicked. This is the case for all software printers in the list. Physical printers on our print server appear to be unaffected. I did a capture with ProcMon, and it looks like what is happening is Reader is enumerating all of the printers the user has available, but does not list the Adobe PDF Converter that is installed along with Acrobat (it shows up as “Adobe PDF” in the Windows registry and the Procmon log). However, I think although when it filters the name of this printer, it isn’t removing its properties, so those properties ‘roll over’ to the next
PDFs keep automatically opening after I download them. I changed settings in Chrome already. But when I tried to unclick the "Open PDFs automatically in Reader when they are downloaded in Chrome browser" in Adobe, it will not save!! I'm at a loss for what to do. I've uninstalled Adobe and reinstalled it already.
I used to be able to save a Word file, then save an excel file and they both save as 75% and look the same size. Now if I save them both, the excel file shows it’s saving as 75% but it’s bigger in the pdf. Also, I used to be able to save the excel file to pdf, then I could edit the pdf and choose the whole table, copy and paste into another pdf and would look perfect. Now Adobe slowly inserts all the texts boxes and they are all misaligned and I will lose some text. I’ve tried just taking a snapshot and pasting but that comes out a little blurry.
