After Effects

I cannot figure out the way to disable the Properties Panel.  I don't want to use it, ever.  I've tried closing the panel and saving as a new Workspace, but everytime I do something like double click a text layer it automatically pops up again LOL.

Never had this issue on my Windows 7 desktop, this is only on my brand new laptop running Windows 10... which should be a lot quicker and run AE better. Anyone else experience this? I press space bar, wait about five seconds and then the preview plays even if it is already loaded.Tried google and found nothing. This is on the latest version of AE but I'm using it for the first time on this computer. Specs: https://i.imgur.com/XpZmZfx.png It makes no sense to me because everything else is fast except this. Additional info: I'm using Mercury Software Only in settings if it matters. 500gb memory and disk cache are empty, purging affects nothing. Display drivers up to date. Working from local drives. Video footage is just small 1080p mp4 files recorded with OBS, so loading them is no problem once the video plays.

After effects will not open.My device meets the requirments to use After effects and all of the other adobe apps I have work fine e.g illustrator,photoshop but one day after effects stopped working The splash screen will load then disapper or The splash screen will glitch and not allow me to close it meaning I have to use task manager to close it. It gives me options to start in safe mode or reset prefernces but none of these options work and I do not have any plugins installed  I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled and even updated to the latest version v25.2.2 However even switching to older versions does not work. Does anyone have any suggestions on How to fix this?

Hi, I have very basic AE skills and can't figure this one out. I only want every "C" to be yellow and don't want to manually change it every time I change the words. Tried an expression that looks for every space " " and then changes the color of the character right next to that, which would be the C's: var userText = text.sourceText;if (userText.length > 0) {var modifiedText = userText.replace(/ (\w)/g, " <span style='color:#FCD527'>$1</span>");modifiedText;} else {""} I'm getting "Error, couldn't turn result into numeric value"  Thank you for any ideas you may have.  

I know tons of stuff is created daily with AE that is far more complicated than what I am doing. I have a new Mac, tons of hardrive space etc... Randomly it just does not play previews for long periods of time. Sometimes it just never sends the file to Media Encoder. How do you all deal with this? Is there some special sauce I do not know about? I am a seasoned design professional and I have tried everything imaginable. 

Can i use Adobe After Effects on my iPad Pro

AE 2025.2.2 (build 2)When does an AE effect generate either Transparent-to-White or Black-to-White bump maps? I followed a YouTube tutorial using CC Ripple Pulse. The video host activated "Render Bump Map" and his gradient went from Black (-100) to White (+100). On my PC, the gradient goes from Transparent (-100) to White (+100). I'm feeding the generated bump map into CC Glass, which uses a Black to White gradient. I fixed my issue by placing a Solid Composite effect below the CC Ripple Pulse effect and set the color to Black (00 00 00). Now the comp generates the full black-to-white gradient which is being used by the adjustment layer comp that has the CC Glass effect.My assumption is that the entire project is using a media render that does not use Black in its Alpha channel, or it doesn't have an Alpha channel at all. I'd like to know where that setting resides.

I have a problem with loading a file in After Effects. I tried all the methods, considered all the possible problems, but in vain. The file becomes pixelated. Moreover, in Adobe Illustrator it is 100% vector and clear, after downloading it remains the same, but when loading in After Effects the image becomes pixelated. I redid the illustration in Adobe Illustrator a bunch of times, reinstalled both programs, made a new picture - all the same result.

Hello! I'm not sure if I clicked a wrong button, but my puppet pins for just one layer is greyed out and the pins don't move, I assume because thye're greyed out? Puppet pins that I have in other layers do move, but those aren't greyed out, I'm not sure how to get my pins back to normal?This is what I mean by greyed out, normally they're just in white, but it's like these are blocked. Any advice? Thank you.

Hello, my After Effects keep crashing and giving same error over and over.I only have Creative Cloud and Google Chrome working in the background. Also, I have no plugins in the project 3 Pre-comps and the Main Comp.I already uninstalled and installed AE and still having the same error.Can anyone help, please?

Hello, I have a question.I have footage recorded at 30fps using an iPhone. When I edit it in Premiere, I render the output at 30fps as well.The problem is, when I import the footage into After Effects, it often changes to 24fps.When I change the comp settings to 30fps, the playback becomes slow.When I check the source footage again, it does say 30fps.I hope I explained it clearly.Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Hope the undo and redo history will be retained even if you have saved a project file. As of the moment, the undo and redo functions are disabled and the history is cleared once a file is saved. I always lose significant change allowance once AE saves/autosaves a file. Like all of the history is gone.

Does After Effects have an animated paint tool like the user friendly program "FlipaClip"? If not, can anyone recommend any third party AE plugin that has that feature? I'm seeing a lot of animated war maps on youtube that appear to be done with the program "FlipaClip". This color stripes representing selected color only. I do not think there is other use to this. How can I switch off this color stripes?     

Is there a way to enable audio scrubbing when moving one frame at a time with the keyboard?As opposed to holding Ctrl/Cmd while scrubbing with the mouse.

Hi everyone,I have encountered a strange problem after updating to after effects 25, the render time is a LOT longer than usual. Some renders jump up to 200 plus hours long.  I tried reverting to AE 2024, but that didn't help. I have also tried exporting from multiple different computers and starting a new AE project but the issue still persists. the only way I have found to reduce that excessive render time was to remove almost all effects, which I would rather not have to do. Has anyone else encountered this? Or has any advice to help?  Original animation:- Total time: 4minseffects: adjustment layers, noise, point light, 3D objects, blurs, orientation wiggle, drop shadow, rough edges. - export time: 150+ hours  What I was able to get it to:- Total time: 4minsIts basically a slide show (with no audio) of images fading in and out with an orientation wiggle effect, drop shadows and rough edges.- export time: 4hs  My PC:CPU: Ryzen 9

I kept seeing this request on the forums and while it felt like it should be possible in After Effects, I couldn't see a way to do it without needing to spend additional money.   This method uses After Effect's native Advanced 3D renderer, Expressions and Shape layers to let you create and animate arcs from one point to another.   The expressions used look complicated, but really just boil down to school trigonometry. Using Cosine and Sine equations, I was able to create Latitude and Longitude that allow me to move a null object anywhere on the imported 3D model of the Earth. Then using parenting, 3D layers and the Length and LookAt functions, I can add a shape layer that has its anchor on one null and has its other end on the other. With that, it's a simple matter to add Trim Paths and extrude the geometry. And if that sounds complicated, don't worry because I cover how to do it all in just 10 minutes.   Once done, you will be able to create flight paths or travel lin

System Specs:  Macbook M2 ProMax, 64 GB RAM, 1 TB StorageAdditional NVME External Drive (holds Media)Additional NVME -WD Black (fast. fast) for cache Currently my preview runs about 4 frames and then wait 15 minutes another 2 frames, I go for a jog come back... 20 whole frames rendered, still 8000 more to go.... Frustrated obviously -  Tried different configs, moving location of cache, media, conformed media cache (what is that anyway??) and database.  Tried preview settings, skip frame, disable multiframe rendering, devoted almost my entire system to AE.  My hair is falling out.  Help

after effects crashed on me just now and when I open it back up it says "after effects cant continue: an unexpected error has occurred and AFter Effects will not shutdown. Please check you have the appropriate permissions to launch After Effects as well as read/write acess to the After Effects preferences folder. If any other error messages were displayed prior to this, please review and resolve if possible." I noticed that AE updated itself last night. Looks like auto updates were turned on. I bet this wouldnt have happened if auto updates were turned off. I cant get back in. Going to need to have someone remote in AGAIN to fix it. adobe remoted in to fix it. I asked what caused it. They said: "I understand, whenever we close the AE on any project it tried to open that project again whenever we again open the application. That's why it was not opening and was showing the permissions the reason it was showing the permissions because it was locating the project which not connected.

Everytime I try to render a video in 20 fps —whether in After Effects or Media Encoder— it renders as 18 fps instead. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've tried manually making it 20 fps also, but to no avail. It recognizes that is 20 fps in After Effects and in the source section of the export settings in Media Encoder, yet I scroll down to the video settings and it says 18 fps. Even when trying to change that, there is no 20 fps option.I do have third-party plugins if that information is of any use. Please help. Thank you.

 As mentioned in the title, I discovered an issue where the borders between the object and the background become contaminated after rendering a video.To investigate, I conducted several tests:First image: Apple ProRes 4444 8bitSecond image: QuickTime Animation 32bitThird image: PNG sequenceFor the test, I placed a solid background at 1920x1080 resolutionand positioned a 960x540 red-colored shape layer exactly at the center.This was done to achieve a perfect 1px:1px match.(The rendered videos were captured as BMP screenshots and then magnified for observation.)While working on an outsourced project, this issue was found around a logo,and the client raised a complaint.I attempted to resolve the issue, but while the PNG sequence had no problems,the final delivery must be a video file with audio, as it is an advertisement.This puts me in a difficult situation.
