After Effects

I want to do a text reveal where an irregularly shaped object goes across the screen from left to right and reveals the text behind it. What's the best way to go about that?

 I  have been trying to open an after effects project file that was working fine a few hours ago but now it does this everytime I open it and after effects closes after. I tried dragging it into a different project and restarting my mac but it still won't work. I am on after effects 2022 and cannot upgrade. Anyone know how to fix this?

Hi, I have a solid with fractal noise, I want the noise always going downward so the first thing that comes to my mind is using the offset turbulence parameter and increasing the Y property with the "time" expression. I also want to control the speed of movement so I added a slider control to the same solid and called it "Speed". I use this code on offset turbulence but the problem is when I animate the Speed from 10 to 5, the movement should go downward with a slower speed but it goes UP, I also make a chart to show the Y changes. I don't know what is the problem. is my math incorrect or does the code have issues?thanks a lot.

 I installed the trial of automation blocks, no matter how many times I click on extensions -> automation blocks, the option never gets a check next to it, the program never opens. Anyone know a fix? Was hoping to give it a try to see how it worked for a workflow i was doing. 

In After Effects, I often get an error message about an unsupported format. This error usually occurs for MP4 and SWF. I converted both to MOV (it works mostly), but when I open the file again, it shows the error message again.

There is a yellow triangle with exclamation mark in it on my fx control panel when I applied an effect to a path. and the effect doesn't work. what is the problem here and could anyone please help? 

This problem used to crop up from time to time in every version of AE CC and I could never figure out what caused it.  I had the issue with CC 15.3, so I tried updating to 2017 to see if it solved the problem.  No dice.  Basically, I can't highlight or change any of my text layers.  I can't even create a new text layer.  I can select the layer in the timeline or in the comp window, but when I double-click the layer, it highlights for a split second and then the bounding box re-appears.  I'm not sure if I've inadvertently set something to cause this or what.

Hi all,I came across this error when I was opening an After Effects file my co-worker made.  It gave me this error for all the photos in the project.We're both using version 14.0.1.5Has anyone ever seen this error?  JPEG backwards?Thanks!UPDATE: I just now figured out how to fix it (it was a permissions issue since we're using a SAN), but I was still curious if anyone had seen this GEPJ error.  Weird.

HiI recently downloaded MBL and I can't import other coloring packs to my after effects 2021 program. The weird thing is the my presets folder directs to Magic bullet looks in a OneDrive. It's usually I think in the program files every time I move the folder it doesn't do anything. Also every time I restart my PC OneDrive reverts back to the last sync so I had to unlink my PC a couple of times.I've tried to import through MBL application still doesn't work.Please Help

I ran the sample CEP from this GitHub repository, and it worked successfully in PS25 and AE24. However, it failed in AE25. The extension appears under the extension menu, but clicking it does nothing. Other third-party extensions work successfully. Does anyone know the reason for this issue?

Some UI icons for extensions are not showing properly in AE 2024. (Motion Tools Pro, Mobar 3 (installed via Adobe Creative Cloud), etc.)After checking the files within the extensions folders, I discovered that PNG icons display correctly, but SVG images are not showing up in After Effects.I did clean uninstall and tried on multiple versions. I found that all icons display correctly in the 2025 version.However, my college computer have the 2024 version, and since I work both at home and school, I prefer to stick with 2024 without upgrading.As far as I remember, this issue didn’t occur earlier this year. What might be causing this problem?  - Tried from 24.0 to 25.1. Specifically:1.The particles lose their glow and vibrant colors during export.2.When exporting with transparency (RGB + Alpha), the particles appear gray, dull, and lack the intended glow.3.When exporting without transparency, the glow and color look correct, but the background remains black, which I need to remove later. Despite trying multiple settings, codecs, and workflows, I cannot get the export to exactly match the After Effects preview.•Trapcode Particular Settings:•Particles set to Screen and tested with Add blending modes.•Glow effect applied to an adjustment layer initially, then directly to the particle layer. I've upload

Hi,See attached Movie file. I am trying to center and stablise the subject centered inside a standard 4:3 window by trying warp stablise of track motion but neither would go past the initialising process. I tried Mocha but it ended up erroring as well. What am I doing wrong?

Hello all, I'm kinda stuck with the overlord extension, i updated my after effects to the version 2022 recently,  My previous version of AE worked perfectly with it. Now i'm unable to push files to AE, I can push from AE to AI, but from AI to AE does not respond. Pls can anyone help?Thanks.

Can anyone tell me why the motion tools pro UI is not showing? I have installed it many times and getting the same error. Is there Version compatibility ? I am using AE 2020 and the motion tools pro version was v_1.1.4. 

Hello, I'm writing to report a significant issue I've encountered, and it appears many others have as well, when copying paths from Illustrator to After Effects. While this process has always been challenging, it has recently become much worse.Specifically, when you copy a single path from Illustrator and paste it into a shape layer path in After Effects, AE unexpectedly converts that path into an outline. This behavior is problematic for the majority of users who require the original path data for proper functionality within After Effects.I've discovered a workaround: changing the path properties in Illustrator to "uniform" or "basic" before copying allows After Effects to accept the path as intended. However, this workaround suggests a recent and unintended change in how After Effects handles imported Illustrator paths.This issue is likely related to the need to export outlined vectors to SVG for proper browser rendering, while single paths with stroke width properties may not displa

Hi everyone,I recently updated to 2025.  In 2024 I had a composition with a bunch of layers of Apple Pro Res 4444 with alpha which had all transparent background.  I open the same composition in AE 2025 and now all the transparent backgrounds are black backgrounds for every single layer.  Things I've tried:- toggle preserve underlying transparency- change blending mode (tried every option)I'm certain the videos have alpha channel, when I import into Filmora, the backgrounds are transparent, and again it used to work in AE 2024 with the same footage.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

I am new to after effects and trying to replace one of my premiere pro clips with an after effects composition. In after effects I did all the rotoscoping and editing that I wanted for the clip, but found out all the way at the end of the process that I can not see the background, and when I recheck in premiere pro, it is also not visible there. Attatched is the composition image, rotoscoped layer, and background layer. I do not know why the background is not showing up on the composition, I used a solid layer but set the blend mode to screen which is what fixed this issue for others upon search but past that I could not find any information. Now it simply won’t launch After Effects. I’ have only opened it once, just for a quick view and it worked fine. And I haven’t worked on any projects, added plug-ins … so it’s totally new and crisp. Im having issues with my After Effects, everytime I try to drag a keyframe to move it on any of my layers it simply will not let me. I've restarted the program and reset my preferences already and it hasn't fixed it.

I'm rendering multi-layer EXRs from Houdini and have a large number of LPE tag-split lighting passes. When I bring them into AE, only about 2/3 of the actual passes are showing up in EXtractoR. I know the AOVs are there--they show up fine in Nuke. The ones that do and don't show up seem arbitrary--some of the LPE-tagged passes show up, some don't. It's not an alphabetical issue--it's not just the last alphabetically showing up in the list. Why does EXtractoR not show all available passes? Is there a limit to how many it can accommodate and I just need to handle that part in Fusion or Resolve or somewhere else? ProEXR is no longer needed, right? Or is it?
