After Effects

Thanks to Adobe's wonderfully effective and never problematic software, I was unable to update any of my apps until an Adobe rep took over my PC and deleted any trace of Adobe software. In this process I lost all my preferences, and somewhere in those prefs must have been some option to tell windows to give keyboard input priority to Adobe, because now when I'm working in AE and I'd like to make an opacity keyframe, I hit Alt+Shift+T, but instead my curser turns into a target that can be used to draw a window for a screenshot, using either Snipping Tool or Snip & Sketch. I tried simply changing the shortcut for those tools but I can't find those options either

Hi there,I've just done an edit in Premiere and also used Audition to clean up some noise in the audio which created new WAV files in my folder structure.I replaced the Premiere edit with After Effects composition so I can now add graphics and transitions but there is no audio playback.  There are WAV files in the AE project but it looks like I have to dragged them back into the AE comp and line them up with my edit.  Surely this can't be the solution? Am I missing something?  Seems strange the audio isn't placed into the AE timeline along with the corresponding footage.

Hi! I applied "Create Nulls From Paths" — "Points Follow Nulls" on my shape pathI want the left and right stars to scale separately. So I created new null objects in the center of the right and left stars, respectively (it is important to mention that the shape is a single path, and it is important for me to make it so that the left and right parts move independently of each other). The problem is that when I scale the left star, its shape is correct. But when I scale the right star, the shape is very deformed.How to make both stars scale without deformation? 

Hello, I just installed After Effects 2025 and opened it to start a new project and for some reason, I can't see my comp screen at all. I created a new composition but the Panel shows nothing but black. Even if I add elements to the comp, I can't see anything. I'm a total beginner at After Effects, please help me solve this. Hello everyone, I am an architecture and 3d visualizer. I created an animation from a model I am working on.I want to mix this animation, which I created in 3D software, with real footage captured by drone from the real neighbor. I am not sure if this is even possible in Adobe Premier Pro.I am using Premiere Pro and AE for merging videos and setting transitions only, so technically I am noobie noobie on the software.        As you can see in the upper images,the first one is a screenshot of my 3d animation and the next one is a drone video from the neighbor. I want to swap red-noted parts in a way that my final video shows the balcony from 3d animation and the background from the drone footage (instead of white cubes)Note that both files are moving shots and not a fixed camera. If this kind of task is possible in AE.A video of two clips merged is uploaded. I already posted this in the Premiere forum but not sure which software is the ri

I started a project on a extra screen, the preview is working as it should. But when i move my project to the screen on my laptop, the preview freezes. In the info you can see the colors when the mouse is moving over the preview, i just can't see it. If i move the project back to the extra screen, it works again. I tried everything, even uninstalling and reinstalling after effects to my laptop, without succes. Does somebody have an anser?

Hi there, I'm trying to start a new project using the Frame.io cloud storage, so I can easily work on the project across different devices. I'm able to login to using my Adobe account to Frame.io on the web app, and I can also launch After Effects from the Adobe Creative Cloud application without any issue. I'm trying to follow the steps in these guides to open Frame.io in After Effects and have the project and its assets all stored on the Frame.io cloud.Install and activate Frame.io  Use Frame.io with After Effects  Everytime I try to load up the "Review with Frame.io" window, I get an error message and it never loads up. If I press OK after this, it goes on the load for seemingly forever. I tried updating AE to the latest version available, and it did not help. Sequoia 15.1, M2, 96GB Noticed huge amounts of memory being used when I go to purge previews and cache.

I am trying to animate lanterns swininging and glowing which is then going to be imported into premiere pro where effects are added on the background. I have exported the trasparent video, but the result was very grid like and not smooth. I need it to be transparent for overlays and the glow needs too be smooth too. I read that color + alpha makes smooth lights have color banding, but the video has to be transparent since color key makes it look really choppy.Is there also anyway to have a smaller file size, this 30 second video is 9 GB? - The glowing effect is a png of a brush with 0% hardness imported into after effects- I have other animations that I will import under this animtion in premiere pro

Currently removing some logos with generative fill but I don't see a progress bar anywhere? Seems like the only way I can determine the progress is go to the render folder and watch for the png's to fill in to full size. Am I missing something?

hinot sure if it's even a wiggle expression I'm after, but I'm wondering how to go about getting a series of random values that an object or parameter will jump to (rather than smoothly transition to, as in the basic wiggle expression).thanks ML

Hi,I am quite new to After Effect.When I try to apply Effect Presets, the After Effect's Effect & Presets window under Text only shows two kinds of presets (Numbers and Timecode) Then when I "browse in Bridge", there are more presets that I am expected: When I apply the preset from Bridge, I get error message: This never happened to me before.Everything is update in versions.Please help me solve the problem.

Working on creating a text heavy video with lots of little effects. I have created a mask path for the word "COGS" to follow. I've imported a png of wheels that I'd like to attach to the bottom of the word that follow the path along with it, but I'm stumped on how to do it. I've tried copying the mask and pasting it in the wheel's position. It copied the path, but not only is it much smaller, there's no path option to have it follow it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!    

After effects says my transform effect is missing from the effects and presets menu. Is there a way to reinstall it or would i have to delete the program and re download to get it back?

I am trying render a 2 minute 50 second video and everytime it is taking over 10 hours to render, sometimes even 24 hours this is ridiculous! I can't keep having to wait this long in the future please someon me help me resolve this issue. I have tried rendering it through the adobe media encoder dynamic link exporting to H.264 and that takes about 24 hours. I have tried exporting to DNxHR, Apple Pro res, Quicktime but they all take way too long.I am using a Macbook with these specs:

I'm trying to speed up the radio waves effect in AE and not having much luck. I read that I should make the frequency higher but that just adds more rings. I also read to use Expansion but that seems to spread them out further. How do I get them to go faster?

Hi, I work on MacOS with another editor besides me and we use 2 SSD drives for footage with the same directory paths for getting to the main footage folder. Collecting footage for each project wouldn't really work since it would fill up the projects folder really fast. Naturally, the computer names and the SSD names are different, so when he opens up a project I've worked on, he has to relink all the footage (since it's in the same folder, it's not much work but still a hassle), and vice-versa. We've thought of going with a local NAS‚ but sometimes one of us works remotely so the easiest solution currently is for each of us to have the external drives. And a networked NAS would take up too much bandwidth at work in our case. Is there a way (or some sort of hack) to tell After Effects to look for footage for a specific project just from the footage folder path onwards, ignoring the drive name and computer name? I'm of course open to other suggestions on how to solve my problem, any

The oldest possible version I can download on CC is 2024. I tried contacting Adobe Staff, but the oldest version they could offer me was 2023. I need to download 2020, but I'm not sure where to download it. Are there anyways to download it?

The effect is totally missing all of a sudden? In version 25.0.1 (Build 2)Anyone else got this issue?
