After Effects

I've tried using  app.project.renderQueue.render()  to start a render,  which works great to start a render.But appearently when that's called, it starts the render and locks the UI, so I'm unable to hit pause, stop in the render queue.    thoguht perhaps maybe having buttons send RenderQueue.pauseRendering() and RenderQueue.stopRendering() would work, but no luck, as even the script UI is locked while rendering this way.   any suggestions?    wish there was a way for a script to simply hit the render button!

when i press spacebar on after effects it switches to the hand tool instead of playing back the compostition.

I have a crap-load of layers that each need to be in their own precomp. Is there any way, script or plug-in, that would allow me to select a group of layers from the time line and make it so each of those layers get into their own precomp?

Hello everyone, after importing the GLB 3D animation, I adjusted the time remap and loopOut() to extend the loop animation. There were no issues, and I was able to adjust the overall speed (gif 01). However, I found that if I only adjust a partial segment, it becomes unreadable (gif 02). May I ask how to resolve this issue?1. import GLB 3D animation2. select one of the action at animation options3. adjust part of the keyframes to slow down partial speed4. the animation doesn't work and just show the static mode

Hi,I have a composition built at 1920x1080. I would like to change it to 1280x720.  Is there a way to do that and also change the layers within the composition porportionally?  I was thinking about creating a null layer and parenting all the layers to the null and resize the null but would that degrade my layers?Please let me know if there is a easier/more efficient way of resize (downsizing) the compositon without degrading the quality of the composition.Big thanks.

Hello!I'm new to using after effects, i have the 2024 version and an hp laptop. I intend to use it for editing, which i know know isn't optimal, but i intend to make due with what i have. The problem is that no matter what audio i use, it's distorted. When i render the clips, the audio sounds fine, but during the editing process it's impossible to even play the edit as it randomly speeds up or changes pitch, slo mo, etc. I've changed my RAM settings. I've used both mp3, mp4 and wav. I've made sure the fps match the comp rate, cleared cache, checked my preview panel settings, probably more stuff that i can't recall now. Also the distortion changes all the time so it's not consistent. I first downloaded AE last year and my laptop was 1 month new back then, but since the audio on edits kept turning out this way there was no way for me to edit. I'm mentioning that it was new incase anyone might think that it's happening because of my lack of storage. I would appreciate if anyone has any su

Hi all,I recently updated AE on my mac, and on making a new project, I can't see any keyframes in the timeline whatsoever.  I can drag them around and navigate between them as if they are still there, and they have the expected effects, they are just competely invisible.  I did a totally fresh install on a Windows machine as well, same issue.I've used AE pretty extensively before, so I don't think I'm making an obvious error, but who knows.  I can't find any other topics on the matter on multiple forums, so I'm starting to lose my mind.  Any help would be very appreciated.  Thanks!

when i draw straight line holing "shift" with brush tool it adds mutiple action, so when i try to undo takes like 23 updo to remove the stroke. same issue with Clone stamp tool. it's been broken since 2019 update or something like that. please fix.  normal brush stroke is count as one action and i can do one updo to remove stroke. 

Hello everyone,I have a problem with rendering a project.I want to export my comp to a .webm (for streamlab) to keep the transparency (alpha). I see my transparency in AE and I check the box "include alpha channel" in Media Encoder but the result is with a black background and no transparency.When i render in .mov i see the transparency and even by trying to convert the .mov file into a .webm file it doesn't work and the transparency dissapear.Any ideas how to fix this ?Here is some capture of my files (AE view, Media Encoder settings, .mov, .webm)    

My screen keeps flickering every time I like move my mouse and when I preview my edit it flickers like 10 times more and faster, I'm about to have a stroke over here, please help. It's a very uncomfortable bug or whatever it is, I attached 3 videos to this post so you guys can really see how annoying it is.

I've got a precomp w/ a text layer and a rectangular shape layer in it.The source text is an exposed Essential Property.I'm also exposing the size of the rectangle which is driven by expression which adds the sourceRectAtTime of the text to the rectangle size (making a text box).I go into a parent comp and update the source text value in the properties panelafter committing the text everything works (text and rectangle size update in comp viewer) as expected but the value shown for the rectangle size in the properties panel doesn't updateI have to de-select and reselect the layer for it to update.

In the latest 24.2.1, essential property is returning the original text value instead of the esential property override.AE 2023 seem to return the correct (override) value. 

'Paste reversed keyframes' doesn't reverse the easing:

I'm on Windows 11 and I'm subscribed to Creative Cloud. I have the latest versions of CC installed, including AE, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, etc. (no other add-ons installed). I have 64GB of RAM installed with a 12-core processor. My sweet spot for memory is to utilize 40GB for all Adobe programs (leaving 24GB for others I needed to multitask). When I set the 24/40 ratio in After Effects memory settings (which auto sets the same value in my other Adobe programs), I noticed is randomly changes these settings if I close the program and check it again. I've seen it reset itself to everything from 0GB for other programs (with AE taking up all of my RAM), and even randomly setting it to 56GB for Adobe and 6GB for other programs. This setting used to stay fixed after the first time I set it, so not sure why it's sporadically changing. 

Huge bug discovered in version 24.6.0, at least for me. I use text presets I have created that I use all the time. I cannot apply these now in any of my text layers. It appears to apply the preset, but the keyframes are somehow being spread apart all over the place, sometimes hours behind on the layer and completely broken. I even tried copying and pasting the actual Animator from one text later to another and it also breaks. Please fix this pronto! To follow up, I just exported and opened the same project in 23.6.9 and the presets worked fine on the same text layer. I then pushed the latest version of AE back to 24.5, and the same bug occurred although I swear they were working in this version before. I then pushed it back to 24.4.1 and the same bug! Same for 24.4. I then pushed it back to 24.3 and presents are working again? Out of curiosity I just opened the project in Beta 25.0.0 (Build 30) and the presets are broken in there as well! Version 24.6.0Ventura 13.6.9M1 Max Ma

Would be great to have a wider choice than blinding white, neutral gray or super-contrast black. Can we get some happy medium option so the contrast is not so extreme? Can we also fix it so that older Script UI Panels don't get cropped and broken like the image attached? Both cannot be used because it crops the righthand action buttons off. This happens in both the current 25 and in the beta.

I have motion graphics project, where we shows prices of products and price numbers are linked by expressions to controller.In after effects 2023 everythink works well, but I can not switch to new versions, because then displayed prices are mixed and flickering between different numbers every few frames.. It is obvious that this is bug in AE24 / 25. When I resave it from AE23 as xml or AE23 project and open it in AE23, it starts working well again. I can share project for further investigation, if someone want to observe..

Has anyone else had their working custom UI and/or arb params start to flicker in Ae 2025? From what I can gather, it's affected multiple devs work including red giant, rowbyte, irrealix, aesweets and my own. Example UI flicker in trapcode particular The symptoms are intermittent flickering, and if there are multiple custom params modifying one can cause the other to flicker. All these examples are working as expected in Ae 2024.  In my case it is affecting custom UIs drawn with both drawbot and cairo. It is also affecting custom UI params, not just arb params. I've tried:setting / not setting PF_PUI_DONT_ERASE_CONTROLRemoving the update param UI selector Any ideas?

Dans le cadre d'un montage sur Premiere Pro, j'ai du remplacer certains rushs par des compositions After Effect pour leur ajouter un Roto brush, c'est quelque chose que je fais très souvent sans rencontrer de problème mais cette fois ci, après application de l'effet, des messages d'erreur sont apparus et After s'est fermé (voir image ci-dessous). Jusque là, c'est quelque chose qui peut arriver seulement, lorsque je relance le logiciel, les messages d'erreur réapparaissent directement et le logiciel se referme... Je pense avoir tout essayé : lancement sans échec, réinitialisation des préférences, réinstalation du logiciel, supression du cache et de l'effet Roto brush dans les dossier du logiciel... Après avoir tenté tout ça, ça a refonctionné pendant environ 1h avant de réafficher les messages d'erreur. Bref, je ne sais plus quoi faire ! Pour l'instant, le logiciel refonctionne (pas pour longtemps à mon avis) donc je ne peux pas vous faire de captures d'écran des messages

In the GERMAN AE Version, i still can't import 3D models.Like years ago, it says: 3D Model for use with Thrapcode.I have to change the AE language, then it works,but this will break many expressions. And in fact,i am paying for this, so this is not my job.And come on Adobe, it's 2025, this is a rookie coding mistakesomeone should fix after years.Just get your things done!

i was adding a plugin and then my after effects wasnt loading so i looked on youtube for help and i had to find my pid number and then go to terminal which i did and instead of my file saving after effects just force quit is there any way i can get the file back.

hi there. It sounds really obvious but for some reason in adobe after effects after selecting the colour white or any other colour it doesnt change.The fill can change to no fill from black but not any other colour. Hope thats clear.Thanks in advance
