After Effects

Hello! it used to be like this: If I have a Composition with 25 fps and I want to have a "stop motion" effect, I can either use the effect "posterize time" - OR I change the composition fps to 12 fps. Today I noticed that if I do that (lower the FPS of the composition) it speeds up the animation accordingly. I tried changing the "preserve framerate" in the advanced setting. Basically it behaves like changing how to interpret the footage itself.I am pretty sure this behaviour is not like it used to be, or I changed some setting I can't find.I would be really grateful to the community to help me in this matter.Cheers,Alexander

Whenever I try to drag a text layer of type in it, everything happens with a huge delay. 2 secs today. Shouldn't be a problem fixing this in 2019…Also, rendering simple script-animated text plate with a solid bg color could take up to 20 minutes. I have pretty good Macbook Pro i7.BUT then, if I construct a cool Sci-Fi space scene in Element 3D (3rd party AE plugin), with several textures and lights and a depth of field camera in it, renderind could take less time! How??! .

What's the best way to unlink media in After Effects? In Premiere I can just r-click and choose "Make Offline..." but that's not an option in AE (unless I'm missing something).

Hi, I see that if I am in rotobrush layer and hit space bar it propogates all frames.  For a given project I see that process took about 80 seconds.  If I don't hit spacebar and just hit freeze, then that also seems to accomplish the propogating and takes over 3 minutes.   Trying to understand in which process is the required computation taking place.  I though freezing was an optional step that just locks in the result, but is it more than that in terms of final computed result?  Is the extra time for freezing just the cache'ing going on? thanks

Hi there, I am a complete fool when it comes to expressions and have been looking for something to create a dropdown menu for selecting a star rating (1-5 stars). I'm setting up a mogrt for the client to easily pick the desired rating. The idea is to have dropdown item 1 > select 0 stars. Item 2 > selecting star 1. Item 3 > selecting both star 1 + 2 and so on.  Currently I ended up with this expressions (from a nice blogpost by Sharayash Sherestha):menu_value = thisComp.layer("Dropdown Menu").effect("Dropdown Menu Control")("Menu"); if (menu_value == index) 100; else 0; Instead of the index I use the item numbers. I figured I could add multiple numbers at "index" (seperated by comma's?) to let the layer's opacity know it can be at 100% for all of those. That didn't work. Thanks in advance for any help! 

Please make this your priority in the next update!! Getting tired of opening recent and it saves to a different folder than from where the Open Recent should be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do I start making a 3D video for this screen. I do have the sizes, that's a start..Or can someone help me to create a template for it. Im a beginner but would be cool when your video plays on that screen.Thx in advance  

Ever since my entire department at the office upgraded to After Effects CC 2020 on PC over a year ago, we have  experienced an unprecedented level of keyboard and mouse-click input lag of up to 4 seconds or more when using keyboard shortcuts, clicking dropdown menus, copying, pasting, almost everything. How can this be solved? I've experienced this in two different setups, on the HP Z840 Workstations at the office and on my Personal Computer at home, both running Windows 10. It's been like this for more than a year I think. It's quite debilitating when we can't work at the speed of thought anymore. Help?

Hey! I'm doing revisions on a project and just found out that one of the compositions got deleted from a project completely. I didn't delete it myself so this is a very weird situation. Does anyone experienced similar situation and is there a way to somehow recover the deleted comp? (It's not in the available auto saves)

I have a main composition named RENDERinside it has pre composed layer named Christmas Light, and in this precomp, i have some pre-composed layers cosist of text written "Christmas Tree Lighting": Those layers & text of "Christmas Tree Lighting" are visible in Christmas Light comp. However in the main comp RENDER, it is not.I have tried to export the Christmas Light  comp only. But the output result not the text Christmas Tree Lighting as well. Please advise for the suggestion guys 

I have a minute and 25-second clip of drone aerial footage that needs to be edited with logos, a site plan, etc. I find using the 3D Camera Tracking tool the most efficient way to work with the space to place graphics into the project (when it wants to work). I initially bypassed the "forever analyzing" problem by rendering the original clip at 600% of its speed with the optical flow enabled in Premier Pro. Then, I place the rendered video back into After Effects, making it 15 seconds of footage. I did animate the whole thing and needed to create edits on it, but I wouldn't say I liked the video quality it turned into after rendering again and slowing the footage down. So I am doing my best to use the unaltered version of the footage.  I've been trying to cut the footage at 10-second variables, hoping it will quickly analyze the field. However, I am stuck on "initializing." Sometimes, when it does want to start analyzing frames, it will be attached to frame 1 with no progress

Hello, recently I've been trying to export my projects on ae and this error keeps coming up with that goat/sheep noise.i was wondering how i fix this since it never happened before and it happens on all my projects. not to mention it doesn't even start rendering and it runs smoothly when i preview it. Hi, I just run into huge problem as all my workflow is based on BRAW footage and I'm in the middle of a complex video I'm working for two months with deadline next week, and After Effects just won't let me to import BRAW. I work separately on laptop (Win11) and desktop (Win10), using newest After Effects (25.0.1) on both, switching machines, but working on same projects (synced on cloud). Today I done some VFX work in AAE, rendered, no problem. Imported another footage and noticed that it is somehow color lifted. Then I noticed that every BRAW footage I import to After Effects on my desktop is now color lifted - like everything is way brighter than when I open the same footage on my laptop. I thought "Yeah have no idea how this happened, but let's update the BRAW plugin, as it's the first thing Adobe support would probably told me to do", I downloaded and installed the BRAW blugin, restarted PC, but now, After Effects WON'T IMPORT ANY BRAW AT ALL. 😄  Everytime I

Hello there. I am having an issue with the LoopOut expression. After adding a keyframe motion and, "LoopOut()" as an expression, the object only moves from the first keyframe to the last, no looping. See the attached video for what I mean. Can someone please help? Hey Folks. I'm developing an AEGP plugin, and I would like to know when the Copy menu command has been chosen by the user. My plugin has a large text field with formatted text, and I want to place that text on the clipboard when the Copy command is selected. I could probably register a CommandHook to watch for the Copy command. However, I don't know which command value to watch for. Do you have any ideas about how I should proceed? Thanks!

Hi, there!Here's the thing. When I convert Illustrator layers to vector shapes, most of the times it generates a group (called "Group 1" as his parent) and a Merge Paths. One of the paths from this group has a square sized as the original Artboard.This is really awkward because not only I have more unnecessary paths and groups but also becomes more difficult to animate since I have several squares for each character's layer.So, from there, there's a "solution":• Using the search bar and typing "group".• Select one by one the extra groups and delete them.• Using the search bar and typing "merge".• Select one by one the Merge Paths and delete them (this last one maybe is not neccesary but if I don't delete them there are remains of junk things in every layer).So I work in projects with 30 characters. Each one have 20 to 25 layers. Each layer creates 2 to 10 "Group 1". Let's make the math. This takes me a lot of time and frustration!I believe this is a kind of bug here. Anyways, I hope th

Is there any chance of Adobe setting up a form to allow users to give feedback on the new UI, please? I've spoken with some of the team in other channels about some issues, and I understand that there's a risk of such a form being inundated with unhelpful comments, but it would be appreciated to have somewhere convenient to log concerns and comments about the UI, without each of them requiring a new conversation.

I had to pick up a project again that I had finished 2 months ago. I was working on v24 but now I am on v25. Every single .ae file from that project crashes on opening: previouse versions, autosave...I have tried unistalling ae, reinstalling both 24 and 25, restarting computer, restarting with plugins disabled, clearing cache, importing in a new project... nothing works. I am on a Macbook Pro M1 Max. I tried opening a couple of the .ae files of this project on my old PC and they open just fine with no issues. I then tried to save another copy from my PC by either just saving incremental and opening a new blank project, importing the ae and saving a new file. Nothing works. this is the report file, can anybody help me understand what could be the issue? Is there a way to export SRT or VTT file from AE for CC videos?

Hello guys, I am trying to export from AE with a transparent background logo in 3D to MP4 format.It's not working with RGB + ALPHA, only separetly - one file RGB and another alpha... I want to have it as one in MP4 format, any tips?

I have created a BG in photoshop to be used in the 3D camera in AE.There are several layers and folders in the psd -file so there will be many subcomps.As I understand it you need to make all layers into 3D layers to work in the camera view.Is there a way to mark a layer in a comp and it's subcomps in an easy way.best regardsMattias( using AE 2018 at this time )

Bonjour,J'ai un projet contenant un fichier première pro et un fichier after effect, ces fichier sont sur mon disque dur externe. Mon fichier Premier Pro s'ouvre mais les lien adobe dynamik link venant de mon fichier after effect se casse dès que j'ouvre mon fichier sur un nouvel ordinateur. Le problème s'est agravé puisque maintenant dès que je tente d'ouvrir mon fichier After effect mon logiciel crash. Concrètement : - J'ouvre AE, je clique sur ouvrir un projet- Je sélectionne mon fichier, il y a la petite fenêtre de chargement- Puis After effect ne répond plus et ça me met le message windows" fermer l'application ou attendre que l'application réponde"J'ai essayé de réinstallé AE, sans succés, j'ai éssaye de copier collé mon fichier sur mon ordinateur en me disant que le problème venait peut-être du disque dur, mais apparement non. J'ai supprimer tout mes plugins (je n'avais que les plugins DUIK que je n'utilise pas pour mon projet) Il s'agit de la derni

Do somebody know how to get rid of that TIME CONTROL black rectangle on my After Effects Screen? It appears also when I export my video or gif animated.
