After Effects

Can someone help me where to find the icons? There are nowhere to find. See screenshot.I have the latest version 25.1 (MAC OS).Thanks for any help.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0JxRdfJtTE I have followed the above tutorial, but my shape is bigger than the composition, I want to follow the trim path end until the end of the shape, but keeping it in view at all times, so the shape needs to also move to remain on the composition.  Is there a way to do this that's not just laboriously moving the shape's position every few frames?Would really appreciate any help! so when trying to pickwhip in an expression to the Grid>Feather>Width property after applying the effect we get errors as it populates the expression with thisComp.layer("Base").effect("Grid")("Width")which there happens to be the grid width property with that name. I found this out by copying a layer with 'relative property links' and the feather width and height kept populating with my grid width and height values. In my attached screenshot you can see the value refers to the Yellow value when i want the green arrow value but i cannot get that to pickwhip. I can get it to link usingthisComp.layer("Base").effect("Grid")(8) // feather width thisComp.layer("Base").effect("Grid")(9) // feather heightIf any reads this and needs a workaround in the meantime. Replace "Base" with your layer name 

Hi there,Before coming here I have already tried the following options:-setting AE to run as admin and turning off all Windows security software (uninstalling them)-Uninstalling and installing AE again and running the CC cleaner software-Fixing all footage with warp stabilization in Premiere to minimize shakiness-Restarting the computer after each of thoseI have been trying to figure this problem out to use the 3D Camera tracker as I want my 3d text to stick to a certain area of the footage as the camera movements change (ie pan up and such)If there is an alternate way to get the 3D text to stick to a building/area of the footage (if the analysis solve failed) cannot be fixed, that would be so helpful! Howdy, I'm experienced in video editing but am an After Effects virgin. I was told that the 3D modeling aspect of After Effects is still pretty new. So I am unsure if my current issue is just me being new or the new software being jank. I was working on an animation in After Effects today using 3D models (Object files) and got everything imported and added to a composition, but nothing was viewable? I was able to select the objects I added and manipulate them but couldn't actually see them. I added a colored background, transparent background, etc to see if it was hiding under something. I get the usual rotation and manipulation X Y Z axis for the object itself, but no visual? See screenshot included. Is there a box I didn't tick or something? I am new to AE so still not sure what everything is or does. 

I have all kinds of problems with MP4 footage not updating properly, and I feel like it didn't used to be this bad in previous AE versionsMy standard workflow is to export MP4 renders from another animation software and composite them in After Effects.Whenever I re-render an existing shot and then switch back over to After Effects, the MP4 footage becomes all garbled / corrupt looking in the AE timeline."Reload Footage" does not help."Replace Footage" (with the same file) does not help.Purging All Memory & Disk Cache (then reload or replace) does not help.Most of the time, quitting out of After Effects entirely,  purging cache, re-opening the project and reloading the footage works.But sometimes it doesn't.Sometimes I have to change the file name of the MP4, then "Replace Footage" when After Effects reports it missing... and then change the name again every time I re-render it!This is unacceptable.I should be able to re-render footage in another app, tab back over to AE and se

If a library in the library panel is left open, the lock and sync icons are doubled and flickering really fast. After closing out of After Effects, the icons were still there and somewhat burned into the screen, but they were still flickering. Even with a restart and shut down, the icons remained, but they did appear to be fading. The icons seem to have disappeared completely after about 20 minutes.  The flickering seems to happen when the side panel is scaled/ pushed to the right enough to show the horizontal scrollbar.  Ae 25.1.0 (Build 68)Windows 10

Hi, i was doing a edit and in one single clip i get this everytime can i fix this or not? Because when i try to export the file i get the same error everytime on the same clip. On the clip there is only a shake and a zoom in and out.

We faced a persistent issue in our recent project that involved several extension panels. Closing one extension panel window occasionally caused the content in another active extension panel to vanish.(Ref: https://youtu.be/8icV1-ORiLU )We investigated this issue and found that it is exclusive to Windows . After spending several hours of debugging, we found out the pattern. The issue applies to all the extensions that exist. Closing an earlier opened extension panel causes the content in the most recently opened panel to vanish. Hello to you all!I'm working on an animation project in AfterEffects and I have the problem that if you look closely at the vertical lines in the animation they flicker.You can have a look at it here: AfterEffects Vertical lines flicker - YouTube It gets better if I render the video with 60 frames per second but I don't have the option to give away the video with such a high framerate.It has to be 25FPS. So my question: is there a way to avoid this flickering even at 25FPS.I tried several things to avoid it:1. Reduce Interlaced Flicker effect: no improvement2. I  tried to put animated grain in the background: no improvement3. I slightly blurred the whole animation: a bit better, but not reallyThank you for any suggestion!

Since 3D rendering can be very time-consuming, I’d like to set up my compositing using lower-resolution versions of my renders first. This way, I can identify any issues before committing to a full-resolution render.What’s the best way to properly manage this in After Effects?1. I know you can manually resize layers and compositions, but this can be unintuitive—especially when dealing with nested compositions. 2. I’m aware of the proxy system, but my challenge is that the final high-resolution version doesn’t exist yet. Hi all,No matter what I try I can not get new images to show up in my Composition Panel. They appear in my timeline as a layer just fine, but I can only see the handles for them in the Composition Panel while the image itself remains invisible. I tried the following ideas to troubleshoot so far: I tried multiple ways to import them. (File>import vs. drag/drop)I tried dragging them directly onto the timeline vs. dragging it directly into the timeline layers.I tried importing different file formats (.png and .psd)I tried re-saving the images and giving them a different names. I tried changing the images into comps and dragging them onto my timeline.  I made sure the timeline layer is not locked or hidden.I made sure the opacity is 100%I tested the images in a different file and they worked fine. I quit After Effects.I restarted my machine. THE ONLY THING I HAVE NOT DONE is to clear my cache. I ain't the smartest when it comes to math and code. I have a setup that controls a color with two operators. A color picker and a slider that multiplies. Current code: // Get params baseColor = effect("Linear Gain")("Color"); gain = effect("Linear Gain")("Gain"); // Multiply the color by the gain value [baseColor[0] * gain, baseColor[1] * gain, baseColor[2] * gain, baseColor[3]]; I'd like to add an additional slider that can go from 0-100(%) that can control the amount of change from 0% which should result in [1,1,1,1float] ie. 'white' to the specified color*gain result being 100%.   Would love to have some assistance with this.

hello everyone! as of recently, I've experienced this annoying issue in the effects presets. anything I search that starts with an S, glitches the effects panel and I can't click on anything that comes up, nor can I scroll down. If I do, it does this weird thing where the panel's name duplicates itself?? for some reason, this only happens with the letter S, any other letter works. any ideas on how to solve this?  (I use After Effects 2018, by the way.)

Hi All,I've started to create motion graphics templates in AE, for use in Premiere, however I'm interested in other peoples knowledge/opinions on the following question: Should I be creating these animations in After Effects at various frame rates, if I know that sometimes the sequences they will be used in have a frame rate of 23.976, 25 or 30fps? Obviously I dont want a jittery animation if, for example I throw in a mogrt created in 23.976fps to a sequence running at 30fps (due to the footage in that sequence). Or vice versa. Thanks in advance for your responses.

whenever i try and use text i can only write it on 1 line, when i press enter to go down a line it just goes back to the beginnning and writes over the line i just wrote. its been happening since i first got ae and i cant find a solution anywhere. Hi, I'm trying to do here an accelerating rotation, but I'm just unable to solve one issue.  I have here a wind turbine, which is rotation in constant speed, however in One moment, I want it to speed up to reach a set peek of speed and then slowly slow down to normal speed.  I'v set up expressions on the rotation:baseSpeed = 100;boostAmount = effect("Boost")("Slider");value + time * (baseSpeed + boostAmount);I'v added Slider, named it Boost and set up 3 keyframes at values 0-100-0, added Easy In and Out.  However I found out, that during the peek speed, the turbine rotation switches to the other direction and in the end slowly stops and starts rotating back its original direction. When I look at the speed graph,i guess it is trying to compensate the value of speed, which went up, by doing it in negative values. I am trying to create a simple script where Guides will be generated from the Grid. I know all of this is pretty basic, but I am having a problem accessing "Anchor" in the "Grid" effect. As you can see I am trying to test it just by accessing the name but even that doesn't work. I do not have a problem accessing for example property(4) which is "Width" and I can access the value of the same but with Anchor, I can not. Also, I would like to access each of the Anchor values [x,y] individually. Another question is the guides on/off visibility. I have used the line from "AE scripting guide 2022" but I am obviously missing something basic.So to summarize:1) how do I access Anchor in the Grid effect?2) how do I access Anchor each [x,y] value individually?3) what and I missing to enable/disable guides visibility with click on the "Visibility" button? I am working in Visual Studio Code and this is what I wrote so far.
