After Effects

My rotoscope brush is not working and I am not sure why. Anytime I click and drag with the brush there is no response. My computer is lagging quite a lot and I am working with a high res video. I've upgraded the RAM to 32 GB so am thinking it could be in relation to something else?  

Is there an indicator of the weight of a rendered project in terms of file size (.avi or other format) without going through the render process?Title was edited by: Mod

Bonjour, Lorsque je travail sur After Effects 2020, après 10 minutes dessus, la prévisualisation se fige.Je m'explique, le logiciel ne bug pas, je n'ai pas de message d'erreur. Le chargement se fait bien (Barre verte) mais que j'appuie sur ESPACE ou sur l'icône lecture, le curseur ne bouge pas. Une fois que je rappuie sur ESPACE ou le bouton STOP 3 secondes plus tard, le curseur se place 3 secondes plus tard. On m'a parlé de "Mise à jour automaqieu" mais je ne trouve pas ce bouton sous AE 2020 et de pus, pourquoi cela fonctionne t'il au début. A noter que la mémoire appartie au cache est de 40Go et que je possède déjà 16Go de RAM. (13 allou à AE) Merci de votre retour, vraiment je me tire les cheveux Romain

I just downloaded after effects and the effects that start with BBC aren't available. How do I fix this?

Nothing comes to my mind on how to create a fake 3D bird rotation. Do you have any ideas?

What I've Accomplished:I've successfully created a time dilation effect with simple panning shots using this workflow:Track and stabilize the backgroundApply time dilation to moving subjects (which correctly positions them in 3D space)Reverse the stabilization to get the final compositeThis works perfectly for simple camera movements. I am looking for any good og bads you guys might have experienced. The giffs i export can be both simple and complexe. 

For context, I'm working on a visual that has several sections of the video masked for alpha transparency, but the black areas that are not masked are still vital to maintaining color + texture with some of the overlays I'm using.  I just updated to AE 2025, and suddenly all of my black solid layers that were preserving the overlay in this project are now totally alpha/transparent and not functioning with the overlay as intended?

hii have created a shape layer of red dots (used a repeater)i want to make them randmoly appear and dissapear, i tried making them with trapcode particular but seems like the grid emitter doesnt have an option to make the dots randomlly appear on the grid, am i wrong? also tried using luma matt with cell pattern effect, but i cant match the squares for the spacing of the dots, (also i dont know how to make the cell pattern or fractal noise to have black and white only without grey) whats the best way to make the dots twinkle?

I'm new to after effects, I'm currently using the 2020 versionWhen I see the preview of my video, it gets slow, and a warning "not playing in real-time" appears, the information in my video turns red, (ram, fps, etc.) and my preview bugs. The problem intensifies even more when I apply a CC or text preset. This happens in all my projects. My computer is in perfect condition, and I have made enough RAM available for my after effects. I already reset the settings and nothing works.I ask for help, please. This problem doesn't let me carry out my projects in after effects.

Hi, when I working with AE an cinema 4D, I get this error when I launch AE and create layer MAXON CINEMA 4D File… How can I fix it?  Versions:AE 17.0.5,C4D R21.115,Mac OS Catalina 10.15.3

I was given a gradients to import into my Library but I can't really utilize them inside of After Effects. There doesn't seem to be any way to apply them and it says they aren't supported.  This seems irrational when it's just two hex codes on a linear gradient.When I look into the info of the gradient, I can't even copy and paste the hex codes to apply them myself and instead I have to type every single one by eye. Am I missing something or what the gradient not setup correctly?

This is probably very simple but I am having trouble writing fractions in After Effects.  I have some titles for this project that require me to write numbers as fractions.  I have no problems with ½, ¼, ¾ but I am specifically trying to type ⅓ and ⅜ and when I paste these fractions into my text layer in AE, the text goes blank.  I know text is being pasted into my layer because I can select it and change it but I can't see anything.  I'm pasting these fractrions from https://lights0123.com/fractions/ Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have a video of a running man like the one you see. I want to put a shape on his left hand. Say I want to paint his left hand red or put a glove on his left hand. But this new red painting over or glove should follow his hand when he runs. How should I do it?

I am an avid Adobe products user. However, in the past year and a half, I have had countless problems with After Effects on my computer, and nothing seems to be working to make the program stable. I have spoken to at least 7 different agents about my issues, both on the phone and in the virtual chat on the official Adobe website, and nothing seems to resolve the problem I am facing. I am operating the software on a Macbook Pro 2019 with (updated) MacOS Sequoia 15.3.2 with 16GB RAM. I have operated After Effects 2023, After Effects 2024 and After Effects 2025, and all three of those versions on my computer continuously crash at random times.
