After Effects

Recently while trying to create a team project, I was trying to collect files but the option was faded out on the files tab and I couldn't complete the action.Can anyone tell me what happened and how I might be able to fix it. Also on that point, can someone please give me a step by step on how to even share my project to my collaborators. Thank you.

As you'll see, top image is of the logo clean, bottom has the effect applied to the whole thing. I just want it on the logo layer. 

I have a layer with a car, and I have another Null layer with a speed controller that has manually placed keyframes. I want to control the car position according to those speed keyframes, i.e. accumulate traveled distance. For example, if the spped values on the first 5 frames are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 then positions should be 1, 3, 6, 10, 15. I wrote this script and it works as intended: sourceLayer = thisComp.layer("Null 1"); currentFrame = timeToFrames(); sum = 0; for(i = 0; i <= currentFrame; i++) { sum += sourceLayer.effect("speed")("Slider").valueAtTime(framesToTime(i)); } sum This becomes very inefficient as currentFrame increases. In reality I need some kind of persistent across frames storage, so I could just add one value to it every frame. Is that possible to do in Ae scripting system?

Hi, could someone suggest a way to get global rotation of a text layer when an animator acts on it? In After Effects, when working with expressions, its boundbox does not work correctly if the layer is rotated by the animator. I want to try to get information through creating a plugin, but I need a kick of help   

Hello, We work in a company where we share projects through a server, so it is essential for us to have the same software version installed on all computers. We have standardized on the 2023 version of After Effects to ensure compatibility with the plugins we use. Until recently, we were able to download the latest update of the 2023 version (likely 23.6.7) through Creative Cloud. However, since the release of version 25, all download links for the 23.x versions have disappeared. This has put us in a challenging position, as we recently purchased new computers and now cannot install the necessary version. We specifically need the final, most stable release of the 2023 version, where many bugs were fixed. Is there any way to obtain version 23 for After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Media Encoder, so that these three applications can run in the same version? Thank you very much for your help.

i want to make a mogrts template for logo animation, i hope it can be toggled with audio on and off with the "checkbox control". anyone please tell me what the correct expression it should be?  the first line shoud be correct, but the second line   if (y==1)100; else 0;   how to make right?  thank you in advance, really appricate!

Hello. I just started using adobe suite and it was working great until a few days ago when I decided to move my Dropbox location to the external drive. Since then I keep getting a message saying "The Common Extensibility Platform (CEP) suite couldn't be loaded." This happens only to after effects and encoder. I uninstalled the app and reinstalled, tried a different account, and gave "read and write" access to all the adobe apps. It's still not working, and I need a solution. Could someone help me please?

First week with AE 2025 and not every render, but consistently getting black or glictched (false color and occasionally inverted in Y images). in the viewport when rendering.   Rendered frames on disk look fine. Testing on MacOS 12.7 Intel, and MacOS 14.7 M1 Max anf M2 Max.  AE 24.5 and after on Intel had occasional viewport glitching and consistent had random frames were bad on disk, so this is an improvement - moving in the right direction.

After Effects 24.x, 25.0, and probably older releasesmacOS Ventura (13.x), Sonoma (14.7) When you drag a timeline column too quickly, multiple columns are moved instead of just the one you were dragging. See my attached screen recording and follow along:At 0:01 and 0:05, I drag slowly and everything works as expected.At 0:08 I drag the Render Time column quickly from the right-most to left-most position and then the Video-Solo-Audio-Lock and the Parent & Link columns have suddenly shifted. If you drag a column and quickly shake your mouse all around like a maniac, then you can end up shuffling all the columns.

I downloaded After effects from Adobe and when I only have a couple picture layers, and barely any animation, the playback shows the green bar for about 7 seconds and it only plays until the end of the green bar, it doesn't keep pre composing or caching. If the composition is 3 minutes, it'll only play 7 seconds and make it green from where you hit play then stop at the end. Unless I move the cursor and hit play it'll play 7 seconds from that point and stop. I've called adobe and they told me to delete and reset my preferences and rename the folder, I've cleared my cache, I've udjusted playback to 1/4. I have 64GB DDR2 Ram with a 32 core threadripper cpu and rtx 2080ti gpu. I used to be able to do more complex things with after effects on my old Mac with only 8gb and an i7. Any reason when I hit play it only plays for about 7 seconds where the green bar is on the timeline? 

New AE is crashing about 40% of the time when importing PS files, cleared prefs, and scripts. We aren't talking about anything big, it's simple files that import nicely on the previous version. Ryzen 9 9950x2x rtx 4090128 ddr5win 11

Hi,When I try to open Color theme extention libraries in After Effects, the extention tab looks empty and I can't find the "Color Theme" libraries that I created. I can see it in the recent activity in the cloud, but it won't recognized in AE for some reason.Someone knows what can be the issue? Thanks!

I am trying to create an animation with a stylised offset stroke on top of the main colour. I have attached an image for example. I want the outline to have the same animation as the original shape. So i have  duplicated and precomped the original layers to retain the animation (as the layers have parents and unable to be part of the same layer). When applying a stroke to this, nothing appears in the main comp as inside the precomp has no Fills as this part will need to be transparent to show the BG and the original coloured layer slightly offset.How do I go about applying a stroke to a precomped group of layers that have no Fill.Hope this makes sense. Happy to clarify.P.S Eevery asset in the animation has this stylised effect so looking for an easyily duplicated process.  Thanks !- After Effects 24.6.3- Mac

Hey Community,I'm a beginner in After Effects and eed your help for an Project.Finally I would like create an animated line that show the track in a Map like (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ile4NRMLDQ) [start at 1:00:00]. I know how I create the map and 3d Camera withe google Earth studio and let a line follw an kml path. My current problem is that I want to animate a line (a helix rotates around a center core stroke). I'm shure that this is possible in After Effects (please correct me when I'm wrong) but I don't know how.I need a3d path that rotats around a line. As effect I want to use the Saber plugin I hope you can help me. ThanksBjörn  

I know there's already some post about ACES workflow but I can't seem to find a post that fits my scenario. This is a 2 part question: 1. I'm working on a project and recieved some footage (.exr) in ACEScg color space. I'd like to take a frame into photoshop and use some generative fill to create a clean plate, but Photoshop doesn't seem to like 32 bpc. Is there a workaround for this without changing the color space/ bits? 2. I need help with color management in general. The client is asking to review the clips in a ACES sRGB - Texture color space. I'm not sure how to do this with the OCIO plugin. I'm pretty sure I will have no problem for the final delivery of keeping ACEScg color space, but not sure about the review. Hopefully that makes sense!

I'm having trouble with my project in After Effects. The preview of my video, "MS dag video," is completely black when I open the project. I can hear the audio when I play it, but there's no visual. I'm pretty new to After Effects, so I’m not sure if this is a common beginner mistake or something more complex. Here’s what I’ve tried so far, but nothing has worked:Updated WindowsUpdated my graphics driversUpdated After Effects SpecsAfter effects V25.01Windows 11  Does anyone have any other ideas on what could be causing this? Could it be a settings issue or something with my project file?  

I've just put a fresh install of Sonoma on my 2013 Mac Pro 6,1 which previously had Monterey installed and creative cloud will no longer let me install After Effects version 23.x - it says that After Effects is not compatible with my computer.After Effects version 23.x worked perfectly on this mac prior to me doing the clean install (although I understand later versions 24.x + are no longer compatible with this hardware).Is there a way of installing the 2023 version or is it a compatability issue between After Effects, Sonoma and the mac 6,1?

I often pre-comp stock footage (usually prores clips interpreted at 30fps) into 60fps compositions to apply frame blending before using the clip in my designs. Today's my first time in 2025 and when I've changed the comp with a duration of 06:20 from 30fps to 60fps it no longer automatically calculates a new duration based on the fps and remains at 06:20.Now the comp that used to be 6 seconds and 66.6 miliseconds long is 6 seconds and 33.3 miliseconds long and my original clip overshoots the comp length.Obviously I've identified the issue and can fix it but it ads another step to my workflow and will create confusion for people who don't work in different frame rates often so I hope this is not intentional
