After Effects

Hi friends, I am very new to after effects and I am trying to follow a tutorial. I am simply trying to do the action in 12:05 - 12:45 of this youtube video which is just to change the position and size of the shape in only the first keyframe in the "path" section. However, it doesn't work for me at all. The frame never remains selected and the desired effect is not occuring. I have attached a few second clip of what happens when I try. I am doing exactly what the tutorial is doing and its not working. Also the I disappears when it's off screen while his still shows. What can I do to remedy these issues?

Please note: I am aware of the Transform > Rotation on every layer but that simply doesn't work in this instance.  I am trying to make two formats [Landscape and Portrait] for export. To achieve the Portrait format, I am trying to rotate the background layer 90°. It should be simple to do- right?? But I  cannot rotate the layer 90° to work in Portrait mode and I can use some help. ***I can do this for all the other layers though- just not the 'star'  I bought an After Effects template from Motion Array and the layer appears to have been made procedurally [see attached] and therefore cannot be rotated 90°. In the Layer Transform tab, I'll rotate it 90° and nothing happens. I've also tried the Rotation Tool [W] and that doesn't work. How do I do a simple rotation??Below is a snapshot of the layer I am trying to rotate 90° to work in Vertical format. I tried 3 different ways to rotate this layer without any success. Was able to open and work with exr the other day... after zipping the porject folder for archove, we have a few more tweaks to make, so unzipped anf now the exr sequences won't appear and get warning popup... This popup is from a test as file to see if i can at least import a sequence into a clean blank slate... but no.  

I use a Macbook and want to use shortcuts in After Effects, but I keep encountering this issue... for example, when I press the shortcut H, it switches to the Hand tool but at the same time, it also displays the text bar below, and if I press V (selection tool), it shows as HA. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Please help me.   Title edited by Mod.  

I am using after effect ver24.3.When I have many shapes or rectangles in one shape layer, I often want to click on each one to see which shape belongs to which item.If multiple shapes are in the same layer and I try to select one shape from among multiple shapes in the composition window, I will not be able to select them separately.In order to find a certain shape among multiple shapes, it is difficult to click on each shape item one by one, so I would like to be able to find it more easily.For example, is there a shortcut key for selecting the next item for items in the same hierarchy in the same layer?I would like to know if there is a better solution. 

Help guys!  How to separate "size" like "position" when you constrain size properties. In graph editor it's barely possible to select X graph to animate. Is there a solution guys help please!  

Hi, I've exported a .glb file from blender and imported into aftereffects. As you can see in the images below, when I add it to my comp, a shadow appears on other layers below like my phone asset, which I have no control over. Where am I going wrong? How can I remove it? Thanks!

I was doing an simple project in After Effects and spent some time on it. Afterwards I set it to render. I went outside, and when I came back home I saw my video saved... but the video was cut in half? I was really sad. If anybody knows why this happens let me know!

Hello all, I am creating a demo video that will contain about 10 animated inserts. Each insert will be designed the same way using a templated Illustrator file. We will only be swapping the text data in each file.  Is there any way to animate each layer and then swap out the Illustrator file so that each layer will animate in the exact same way by only swapping the Illustrator file in the After Effects composition?

I just start my after effect free trail to test my mac can run it or not, but this popup keeps show up and I couldn't do anything,Does anyone has soulutions for this issue? 

I am getting constant Low Memory Warning banners in AE 23.6. Purging the cache or restarting AE doesn't fix it. Most of the time, I have to restart my machine for it to go away, at least for a time. My footage is usually EXRs in resolutions from 1080p to 4k. Project doesn't matter, it happens in any project and has ever since the multiframe rendering feature was added back in.  Much of the time if Ilet the timeline cache in the background, it'll work fine, but I need to press the spacebar instead of the Num0 key for a RAM preview. i have had entire timelines cached only to hit hte num0 and the banner returns. I only Have AE and Chrome open, but it happens even if it's just AE. System Specs: Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32Core64GB RAMNvidia Quadro RTX 6000window 10 Pro *UPDATE* This is still happening with24.3 and completely new projects with completely unrelated source.

Liebe Community, seit ein paar Tagen funktioniert der Zeilenumbruch für meinen Text in After Effects nicht mehr. Wenn ich einen Text erstelle und in die zweite Zeile springen will, werde ich nur zum Anfang der ersten Zeile zurückgeworfen und die beiden Zeilen (oder ggf. mehr als zwei Zeilen) überlappen sich.Auf dem beigefügten Anhang Habe ich in die erste Zeile "blablabla" geschrieben und in die 2. "Hallo hallo hallo". Bei dem Panel "Paragraphs" ist alles auf 0 eingestellt. Die settings sind ebenfalls im angehangenen Screenshot.Ich bedanke mich im Voraus für eure Hilfe 🙂 

Bonjour, je vous écris afin de vous faire part d’une situation contraignante. J’ai effectué l’essai de 14 jours d’adobe after effects et j’ai voulu annuler l’abonnement avant la fin des 14 jours. Il semble que cet annulation n’a pas été prise en compte puisque j’ai payé deux mois de facturation et que je suis parti pour 10 autres m’is de paiement à mon insu. Puis- je me faire rembourser et annuler mon abonnement svp ? Cela est très contraignant pour moi et ma situation financière….

I am using after effect ver24.3.I often convert multiple rectangular shapes to Bezier paths to create cartoon-like emphasized lines.However, it is not possible to select multiple path items of multiple shapes, right-click, and convert them to Bezier paths all at once.Is there a way to select multiple shapes and turn them into Bezier paths at once?

Is this a bug or UX/UI team has nothing better to do than remove useful features?Please bring it back, it's very helpful when working on a multiscreen video. thank you  

I wonder if anyone might be able to give me some guidance, please. I have a video that was originally shot at 30fps but at some point was converted to 25fps, and so every 6th frame is missing, causing a jittery viewing experience. I've installed the Frame Restorer script but am having serious difficulty in understanding how to insert new frames at these regular intervals. I believe one should add repeat markers - but should each marker be placed on the frame which is AFTER or BEFORE the missing frame? I've tried both, then tried INSERT skipped frames, but the resulting rendered file is till jumpy. Any help would be greatly appreciated! NOTE: the missing frames do not appear to be automatically detected, hence I am needing to manually mark these out and insert a new frame after every fifth frame.

Hi,While using the text tool at After Effects (Version 23.6.5, Win10) I tried to change the tracking (Character spacing) skips the first letter:It happened only while typing at Hebrew, no matter which font, and also on a new project.Thank you.

The attached error appears if I try to checkout the output layer before calling checkout_layer_pixels on an input layer. This is consistent with the documentation (https://ae-plugins.docsforadobe.dev/smartfx/smartfx.html?highlight=checkout_output#pf-smartrenderextra). However there are cases where I don't want to check out any inputs and write to the output world immediately (cached render results for example). Why is the checkout needed?  Additionally, the wording is misleading. Not a layer checkout (checkout_layer) is needed, but a checkout of the layer pixels (checkout_layer_pixels). 

Hi,I am having trouble when trying to import audio files from Adobe Creative Cloud libraries to After Effects.I am able to drag image/video files to editing panels with no problem, but not audio files. I have both WAV and MP3 files in my Adobe Creative Cloud libraries and neither works. Error message states file type not supported. Tried exporting files from Adobe Creative Cloud to local folders, then import the exact same files by dragging to editing panels and it works. Reuploading the files to Cloud libraries and it is not working again. Is there something I can change or setup to be able to import audio files directly from Adobe Creative Cloud libraries to After Effects? *After Effects v 23.6.5

I'm sorry if the title doesn't make much sense. I don't really know how to describe this problem, also why i couldn't find any answers by myself.I just switched from AE20 to 24. Something i do a lot is use blur effects to duplicate layes and simulate a shadow under images and objects. I tried doing this, but it turns out the shape of images is limited to a square the size of the image/shape.  Here is what i mean, I used to just blur objects and get a shadow matching the Image's shape. Very useful with png images. But now i get this. The image is locked in this square, and i don't know how to unlock it.I assume it must be something in the settings of each shape, because both pictures are of different layers in the same timeline, and both layers are using the same source image.

Hello all, I am new user to After Effects for Mac. None of the After Effect plugins I've downloaded are working. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling After Effects several times.  And I also uninstalled and reinstalled the plugins multiple times but none of them ever shows up in the Windows > Extension except for Adobe Colors   At first I thought it was only the Bodymovin but after installing 2 other plugins (Motion array &LottieFiles for After Effects) I realize that none of them are showing up in the Windows section. I also tried installing it using Anastasiy’s Extension Manager but keep getting a 602 error.    Please help :(, I keep looking up solutions in forums but can't find an answer.   

ich habe mir am 30.04 after effects geholt will es aber nicht mehr weil es mir zu teuer ist und ich es selten nutze und kann bis heute den 5.05 mein probe abo nicht abbrechen weil da Die Verwaltung dieses Abos wird in Kürze möglich sein steht seit 5 tagen

Hi I'm very new to After Effects and am trying to make a scoreboard that runs off a .csv file. I want to move a cursor from an inital start position to the current score position and then, when the scores are updated, have it more to the new cursor position. I've attached an animation of the basic concept of what I've trying to do. Apologies for the ugly cloud overlay, they have been removed already. The problem i'm having is constructing the if statements to direct the positon transform to the 3 locations. If I write a statement like so: if(time > 5){[currentCoordinates,708.5]} It will be nullified by adding the following: if(time > 8){[newCoordinates,708.5]} The result is the cursor only moves on the last if statement in the sequence. Maybe i'm approaching this all wrong but any help would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks ATB Concept video:
