After Effects

hello so I can't really review my edit and I tried everything atp anyways I tried to review my edit once I was done in full but then at a specific frame it started to freeze and I tried going back to the first frame but it doesn't work and it would just show the specific frame idk maybe it's my preferences but I tried to reset it but it didn't work like when I did control + Alt + shift it didn't pop up and I tried following a tutorial in YouTube to reset AE but that didn't work  pls help me ASAP 

This error happends every moment. How can I fix it? Thanks

Got a project where I have an adjustment layer with Posterize Time and two Turbulent Displace instances on, to emulate a handdrawn effect. It has a "time*4" expression on the Random Seed. As soon as I preview or render After Effects crashes. If I disable the turbulent displace, everything works fine. I never had problems with this effect as I have used in many times. I already tried a fresh install of all adobe products. Latest Nvidia Studio Driver installed.Crashlog attached. 

In Ae 2023 the calculations effect was working fine, but in Ae 2024 it's not.The effect is not getting the layer styles from the second source as it should.I need to close and reopen the project in order for it to work properly and get the layer styles.

Opening After affects and it shows me a message for one second saying you cant run it because you need Cinema 4D  or when I want to open after affects normally it says this |(picture shown in the description) and crashes to continue and then it just crashes. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and it hasn't worked. Please help

I have been having a hell of time with AE's rotobrush/scoping feature, but was hopeful that the latest AE (24) version would fix the rotobrush issues, as advertised. Whereas before, this feature would prompt a doom loop of endless frame propogation, now AE 24's rotobrush tool simply won't event capture the object I identify using the green marker. It seems to capture the whole frame only. This is after I've cut up my clip in 20 sec. segments, rendered these pieces out in PP, and opened them individually in AE (this was suggested as a method for avoiding the frame propogation doom loop). All of this is extremely discouraging and I don't know how a feature like this can be released when there are clearly longstandinging, persistant issues with it. 

I want to use the adjustment layer from my project 1 to use in project 2. In project 2 I import the composition with the adjustment layer. Then I copy the adjustment layer where needed.  When I now delete the imported composition, the copied layer also disappears? Have also tried with duplicate instead of copy, same result. Is there a way to use only the layer and have the imported composition (with the original layer) deleted?

When in a team project and I write text, right click, and select relace with AE comp to bring that text into After Effects the transition wont work and with make a "placeholder" instead in After Effects. Anyone have this issue?

Hi all! first post out of pure desparation... In short: UI is slow (like often "power point presentation slow" and especially Trapcode plugins are almost unusable. Maxon Support basically said "deal with it" (details see bottom) but these plugins aside it still it runs much smoother on colleagues's slightly older but similar pcs (all HP). My IT's last suggestion was that it might "just" be a Windows issue (Colleagues Win10, myself Win11), although on my private pc (Win11) it is running okay. Pls don't mark this as a pure "Trapcode problem" although this is currently our main issue. I have been using After FX for 20y+ now and notice when the general performance drops, which it unfortunately did over the last versions 😞 - this is the main issue, but they might be related.We also noticed similar performance drops in the newest Photoshop version - not the topic here but it shows that this might also be related. Thx for your suggestions! Examples: Selecting

AE 24.0.2 and AE Beta 24.1 crashes up startup.  If I reboot and delete cache folders it will sometimes startup, but when opening existing files or creating new files it will freeze and I have to end task and reboot again.I was able to open a new project once with 24.1 Beta, but once I tried to use Roto Brush to outline for matteing then AE froze.  I've removed it and reinstalled numerous times with AdobeCreativeCloudCleanerTool with no success.  Premier Pro and other Adobe program work, but I need AE to remove background(s) because the Chrome Keys don't a good job. I've had an existing Support case number ADB-31399659-W4G6 open for sometime, but they haven't been any help.  This really impacting one of my major project with a client and I need help ASAP to get this resolved.Here's one example of what it is freezing on upon startup:   

I have a big problem with After my project crashes at a specific momentI'm having a problem with After Effects.Everything was fine until I closed After Effects yesterday and rebooted my PC.Now, every time I reopen it, After Effects opens normally, but if I try to load my AEP project (which is in dynamic link with my Premiere Pro project from the same year)it loads up to 88% and then systematically freezes.I've tried with an old autosave, same thing, I have to go back far enough in the autosaves for one to open without a hitch, but it's far too old for me to let myself lose such a large amount of work.I don't understand how this happens, I just know that the project can open, if I move the source files of my project, which are used in it (for example I move my illustrations and the Premiere Pro project somewhere else, then my After Effects project opens correctly, but without my loaded media of course because they've been moved. And if I try to reload them, After Effects crashes again).

20 minutes of testing v24 and I cnnot turn on the transparent background.windows22h2 threadripper 3955nvidia 4090bit annoyingso not one person on the beta was working with transparent background? (not as annoying as being forced to add tags or have a really small title character limit though)Maybe the next AI project can just do the tagging for me please? you could use some 1970s subject analysis tools 

Upgraded from 24 to 24.02 changed a Prores4444 custom preset from straight to matte alpha wirth no warning. Mac m2 tower.

Mucha AI, pero no arreglan lo más simple.

I'm trying to create a graph with multiple lines based on a CSV file with different columns of data. Two columns in particular have values that go above 1000000 and I think here is the problem. Because the other columns don't give me any problem and I can create a line for each of those. When I do the same process for the columns with values with values over 1000000, I receive this error. I will upload an image of the spreadsheet, of the expression and the sliders that I'm using. You may ask "Why do you use a point control instead of a slider control for the Y values?" Because only the point control can reach values above 1 million, however this doesn't seem to work, I don't know where is the problem.

This has always been an issue. I was half expecting it to be fixed for the latest AE release but of course the devs have been too busy adding pointless 3D renderers rather than actually fixing the huge problems in the playback engine.In a 25fps UHD comp the preview from the Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4k lags behind the main display by a huge amount, we're talking seconds here, not just frames and it gets worse the longer the preview plays for. No issues at HD and I get realtime playback in UHD with Resolve and Premiere so there's no blame to be put on the BM card, just AEs shocking Mercury Playback engine. This basically means that as of 2017 AE is still incapable of playing back UDH footage to an external monitor. Nice job adobe.AE 14.0.1.5Win 105930k64Gb ram2 x 980ti

I imported an AI file into AE, i then added a new layer in my AI doucument, but it won't appear in my AE document, i've tried importing as composition (retain layer size), as footage too, also tried relaoding footage, nothing seems to work, any help much appreciated

Running After Effects 2021 (18.2.0) on Windows. Program runs well. When I quit, it takes a long, long time to close out the program. Oftern I'll use Task Manager to quit. This behavious seems to have started within the last two updates. 

I'm trying to use the 3D camera tracker to place my own video on the television set that the woman is watching (circled).  However, when I inputted my video, it comes out blurry. I tried calling Adobe Support but they just sent me the 3D tracker manual which is not helping in this instance. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and any help would be appreciated. 

ich habe ein After Effects Projekt, dass ich auf einem Mac erstellt habe und nun auf meinem Windows PC (Win11, RTX 4070) weiter bearbeiten möchte. Wenn ich das Projekt öffne ist erstmal alles normal. Sobald ich aber eine bestimmte Komposition in der Vorschau abfahre stürzt After Effects ab. in dieser Komposition gibt es nur zwei Farbflächen mit einem Verlauf und Schlagschatten die sich bewegen.  Ich hab schon einiges probiert, aber weiß nun einfach nicht mehr weiter.

Is it possible to change the canvas color in After Effects? I.e. the color outside compositions.If working with a dark movie it's sometimes hard to see the edges./P

I've got a composition of an animated bug. I have a script that gives it random movement left and right with pauses (so it'll crawl randomly left or right, stop, then crawl again at random intervals).I'm looking for a way to flip the composition to face the direction it is moving and STAY that way while paused. I'm currently using this hackey way to flip the X scale depending on the direction it's moving, but it always goes back to facing one way when it stops, when it should be facing the way it was facing when it stopped. var movement = transform.position.velocity; if (movement[0] < 0) { transform.scale } else { [transform.scale[0]*-1,transform.scale[1]] }I hope that makes sense? Any help would be awesome, thanks!
