After Effects

When viewing a comp at 100% or larger, I'm pretty sure I was previously able to use my middle mouse wheel to pan around and inspect details. Rolling the wheel zoomed you in and out, while holding the button down enabled you to pan around when zoomed in. I've lost that functionality, and now I can't navigate around my comp when zoomed in. Is there another way to do this? I'm used to adjusting things at the pixel-level, but now I can only zoom in towards the dead center. Has anyone else experienced this? I've restarted a bunch of times... Thanks.

I'm trying to do a simple expansion of 3 lines of text but make the middle line the base so that it doesn't move, and the top line and bottom line expand in their respective directions but I can't seem to figure out how to use line spacing or leading to make the lines expand from anything other than the top line of the text.

Hello, there.I recently updated my version of AE to the most recent 24.5 version, because I was excited to test out the new 3d updates, such as 3d fog and embedded 3d animations. However, once I updated AE none of the new effects seemed to be working. I am able to apply the effects but they do not work properly. Same goes with importing 3d files with animations. An ''Animations'' bar shows below the composing options bar on the 3d layer , but the small  animation  box does not appear. 

I searched the forum and cannot find an answer to my problem. I'm trying to track a simple sock video of a laptop with a green screen but Mocha AE is not tracking properly. I've done this succssfully in the past but for some reason I cannot get it to track the screen. I take the time to set up the spline and planar surface carefully but it just won't track more than a few seconds of footage, then goes way off track. I made sure AE is updated, cleanted the cache in Mocha, rebooted, noting seems to work. What could I be doing wrong? I feel like it's something really simple but I am still reletively new to AE and Mocha but this is a very simple procedure that i've been succesful with in the recent past but cannot get it to work now. I've included screenshots of Mocha when tracking forward. Any ideas?

Hi, I'm new and I wanted to link 2 shape layers together. I wanted to make an animation of a little man. But when I connect one part of my arm with the second, this part of my arm deforms and rotates as if in a different projection. What to do?  

We have discovered a problem in 24.6 (latest AFX build) where some EXR sequences have the incorrect gamma applied to it. The only work around is to reimport the same file again and the gamma is imported correctly.So far we have isolated the issue to 24.6 - when running the same project in 2023 and then 24.5, the files are brought in correctly. This is affected Windows and Mac systems - it is very much affecting After Effects as a whole.

So I was trying to create the countdown effect using the number slider effect. I saw instructions on how to do this on youtube, but when I followed their instructions, there was an error in the expression. Namely, the expression I typed was this...  slider = Math.round(effect("Slider Control")("Slider"))sec = slider%60min = Math.floor(slider/60)function addZero(n){ if (n<10) return "0" + n else return n }addZero(min) + ":" + addZero(sec) And it said, "Invalid numeric result (divide by zero)" . Which was weird because it never said that when other youtubers typed the expression. Also, I even changed the settings from "JavaScript" to "Extended Script" but nothing is working. If you can help me out that would be great as this issue is driving me crazy. 

Does anyone know of a tutorial out there on how to animate a magic 8 ball in After Effects? I know that I would need to illustrate it in Illustrator, but I'm not exactly sure how to animate it. Any help is appreciated!

Hello! There are two clips one is mine trying to achieve the results shown in the youtube video. Please help me out how to take the path to the origin point like in the youtube tutorial. I am unable to do so as you can see in the video whenever I try to compress the paths it does not move inward but moves sidewards.

hey guys! I just started working with a team where I will receive several After Effects 2024 projects and I can't update to this version. The version I have is After Effects 2023 My mac is:macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) I tried updating my mac but it's already up to date. Does anyone know how to solve this without having to ask someone to downgrade the project for me every time I need it? I know there is a Downgrader Project Online for Premiere, does anyone know if there is something like that for After too? 

 Hello,  I have just purchased the TrapCode Suite that has the Particular Effect I want to use from RedGiant by Maxon. I was going to use this in  Adobe Effects that I have on my Mac (as seen in attached, I have the Version 22.6.0 of After Effects). However, when I click on a layer and go to Effects - RG Trapcode (as instructed in tutorials), the Particular effect doesn't appear.  Do you know why this might be/ how I might be fix this? Is it because I have too old a version of After Effects or because I have missed a post purchase step? Thank you in advance! Kind regards, Alannah

Hi! I have at home a Mac studio M2 Max with 64Gb of ram and works great, but a few times in a year i need to traverl and take my work with me, i was thinking in getting a MBP 13 inch 2020 intel just to open the projects, do some changes and then render, that's it, the rest of the time it will spend it in some corner in my home office.Why this MBP? Beacuse i can get one really cheap with 32GB of ram, i tried the M1 Pro with 16GB of ram and sadly is too litle ram that after a few seconds i already have like 8GB of swap.My other option at the same cost could be a MBA M1 with 16GB ram.I am not in the US so getting a Mac it's quite expensive, and getting a Gaming Laptop is out of the question because they are big and heavy.So does anyone have some experience with the 13 inch MBP? or o get the MBA? Thanks in advance

Hi there,  I've read forums, looked on YouTube, nothing seems to help. So here I am. I have Adobe creative Cloud and run * Premiere * Photoshop * After Effects  * Audition  * Bridge I've updated all the drives, I've updated windows I've updated CC. After Effects was working fine, now I cant even open it. Using Adobe cleaner I uninstalled everything and re-installed. I was using using video co-pilot and ae juice plug ins, I have uninstalled those 3rd party apps. After effects 24.5 still will not open. Everything else though is working fine. Any advice???   🙂 Gary.   

In AE CC 2017, I have a composition (A) where the footage is from another composition (B) and this composition (A) had 11 colour range keys on it. And they had worked at one point and I had selected the colour to key. Now, when I add a color range key to the composition, pressing the icon to select the colour to key switches to the (eyedropper?) icon but when I place it over the footage to select the colour it changes back to the normal mouse pointer so doesn't select the colour.The video that's started having a problem is quicktime pro-res - even though colour range key worked okay on it previously (note: I'm using Windows 10).I've also tried using the footage from composition (B) in a new composition but that does the same thing (just shows mouse cursor over the footage). But if I put a color range effect on a video rendered with quicktime jpeg2000 it works as normal (shows the eye dropper when cursor is placed over the footage).I've tried loading the pro-res video into a brand new (

I’m using After Effects on my ROG Strix G15 with 16GB of RAM, intel core i7, GTX 1650ti and Windows 11. When I try to remove a background from a three-second video and click ‘Freeze,’ the rendering process involves around 6000 frames, which takes a long time.Steps to Encounter the Bug:1. I import a three-second video into After Effects.2. I select the area of the video from which I want to remove the background.3. I click on ‘Freeze’ to start the background removal process.The program should render a reasonable number of frames, like my brother’s laptop, which only processes around 170 frames, making the rendering quicker.What Actually Happened:The program is rendering approximately 6000 frames, leading to much longer processing times. How can I reduce amount of frames that my laptop needs to render?

I just downloaded After Effects and I can't find presets, I only have the 2024 version, but I can't find presets and I can't use plugins, I added a few plugins in the folders. but it doesn't show up in After Effects

2024 still the same problem. It's been written here for years, they say it's hardware related, but obviously the real problem is that Adobe doesn't see it as a problem and can't be bothered to fix it. Because it does this on 3 different computers, desktop and laptop, even though all my software and hardware is up to date. I have top i7-i9 processors, 64gb or more ram and very fast ssd disks. Fun fact, it doesn't do it with unusual files, it does it with all common formats like mp4, mp3, mov, psd, ai etc. It has difficulty importing and does not respond and returns to normal after 20 seconds. Adobe is scam. 

I am looking  to create a line chart graph that has the ability to be able to be zoomed in and out of (animated).  I need to be able to scale the x and y dimensions freely.  Here is the rub: I would like all of the elements (text, lines, shapes etc) being scaled to NOT DISTORT.  example: I have a line graph where the bottom x value are let's say 12 months (Jan thru Dec - that 12 separate text boxes)Then the vertical lefT line  are let's say dollars amounts , let's say zero through $100 found up the left side.. (that's five text boxes). Not of course I have a line path/shape expressing whatever info values in the center .Now say I would like to animated a zoom into just the last month (Sat from Nov through Dec or something ) , but I want to keep the left vertical $ values the same.? Hi Everyone, I have been tasked with creating a short video animation for work to announce the rebranding of one of our facilities. I would like the old logo to morph into the new logo. The new logo contains the same icon, colour scheme and font as the old one, it's only the text in the logo that would need to change.  I am new to After Effects so have been on YouTube to try and understand the process. I have seen how to morph shapes but these images are more complex with lots of paths so the process is not working. Could someone please explain what I need to do or point me in the right direction? Many thanks in advance!
