After Effects

  Hi. I am a newbie.I am trying to modify the POSITION animation curves. But when I go into the editor it also shows me the SCALE ones.I have tried to click or bring the cursor only on POSITION. but anyway it also shows me the staircase ones.How can I isolate them?sorry for the stupid question

I used to have no lag/slow problems with the software before (2020's) and my premiere pro never had slowing down issues, but simply put After Effects is my go-to software with any kind of creative project of mine. Is there anything I could do, or would a complete pc format be neccesary (or switching to an older AE version)? Thank you. 

Recently upgraded Mac to M2max Studio, under OS14.1.1  and I was finding when attempting to import choosing a folder containing a large number of image sequences within After Effects from an external drive, that it was taking a very long time to load the folder; the greater number of files within that folder the longer it took to load before I could select the first image in that sequence, ie. 3000+ images 30secs. However I realised that this was happening not only in After Effects but all other apps (just so happens AE is where I usually open images sequences into). So it seemed to be an OS Finder related issue. This has now been resolved...It was because my existing external drive (ssd) used to import was formatted under the older MacOS-journaled. However reformatting to APFS has now resolved the issue. I've always had a preference to work from external drives rather than clutter the internal system drive for over 20 years, especially with video and animation work

I'm looking for a script that will move position for a set amount per frame. For example, I'd like to move the y position by 45 units every frame...

Hello!I noticed a annoying bug visible only on an exported video.For my project, I use a motion graphics template to create an automatic outline for an image or video.On AE, there’s no problem. I can switch sources easily.But on the video, I can see the original source that I used to create the model.The problem can be solved by deleting the file replace the images in the AE project and replace the images again as I did.So ok, there is a solution but it is far from comfortable especially since the problem is visible only to export.Hoping this problem will be solved...

I'm an active duty military and needing assistance using adobe premiere cs6 and after effects.   I recently downloaded a video template from videohive.net.  When I open the project in adobe premire cs6 this message keeps appearing.  "After effects warning: This project contains a reference to a missing effect.  Please install the following effects to restore this reference.  Element."  So then I purchased adobe premiere elements and I am still having the same problem with the previous message.   The other problem I am having is with font substitution.  This message appears "This project uses fonts that are not currently available on this computer.  Font substitution will occur until the originals become available Bahnschrift."

Is there any way to change some text animation in a paragraph and have the paragraph automatically align after the text change?

Dear Adobe-Team, I switched to a new Mac Studio (Apple M2 Ultra, Sonoma 14.4.1 - all updates installed as of today, 7.Apr 2024) and am using Adobe 2024 Media Encoder and After Effetcs (all updates installed as of today, 7.Apr 2024). A file I need for work and which I created on my old Mac Book Pro (2,4 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9, Monterey 12.6.6) can not be rendered. I reduced the problem to one effect: the write-on effect. I deleted everthing else from the file (its attached) so you can see the isolated problem - I called the Komp "Does NOT work". The file is still rendering on my old Mac and on a Windows Computer (I borrowed one for testing) but stops the rendering on my new Mac Studio (and also on the new Mac Home with an M2 chip from a friend who tested it for me). I made a new Komp on the new Mac Studio and replicated the layer - Komp "Works" - this renders sometimes and sometimes not (once it stopped working when I activated "write on transparency" but then after the

In any lesson, I can see that when I click on the Track Matte tab, there are 4 options: Alpha Inverted Matte, Luma Matte, Alpha Matte, Luma Inverted Matte.  When I open this tab, I only have the option to select the layers I've already created, and I can't find an explanation of how to toggle this. (I'm using the latest version of After Effects) I just can't continue my studies because of this little problem( 

Hey. First time on Adobe Fourms so hopefully it's not in the wrong place. I've got a MacBook Air 2015 model which I've recently learnt won't run (more so render) anything on after effects. Is there a possibility of running AE (or creative cloud itself) on something like a remote device or off of an external cloud based server i.e. running off shadow, or AWS server, so I can get the specs I need without splashing cash on a £1k PC? Hope you understand the question, thanks for all taking time to read! J 

Hello, I am cloning part of a frame onto the next frame and tracking it to the end.  Just when I alt click on the position and pickwhip it to the tracking the clone jumps out of its original position and looks terrible.  What am I doing wrong to get this?  Why doesnt it stay in place?

Hello,I started running into a serious problem which totally hindered the post production of our feature film. Every time I try to track via Mocha AE, it force closes After Effects with no warning or crash report. It just shuts down.This happens each time I click on cancel when the "Suppressor Warning" menu pops up or if I do full resolution, this time AE shuts down as soon as I save Mocha tracking and exit. So basically exiting Mocha force closes AE without giving me any chance to save the project.My system is Windwows 10 Pro. Ryzen 7 3700x 64 GB Ram.

In both Photoshop and Illustrator apps, trackpad gestures function as follows: Pinch in/out with two fingers → Zoom in/outTwo-finger swipe → Pan tool According to this Adobe's tutorial video (https://youtu.be/Twp181u24Bc?t=102), the same gestures should work in After Effects as well. However, for some reason, when swiping (moving) with two fingers on a trackpad, the canvas is zooming in/out instead of panning. So, both gestures result in zooming." I'm using v24.0.2.

Hi! Whenever I want to add a third-party preset file (it contains Twixtor) my After Effects just closes with no message just nothing.. This only started happening when I resetted my pc a few weeks ago and I've got no idea how to fix this nor do I remember how I made the preset.. does anyone know how to fix this or not?

The following error message occurs; "after effects warning: roto brush strokes cannot be added until the current frame has finished rendering" It immediately and continually pops up when I try to use the brush. It is making the tool unuseable right now. Any ideas what might be causing this? I've only just updated it.  I've cleared disk cache etc.   

Quite often when I have a folder full of multiple image sequences that I want to import, if I check on the "Multiple Sequences" button, it will import them in chunks or as individual images. Then I have to cancel and undo. Or sometimes it won't even let me select all of my images, so I can't even check that button.So then I'm forced to import each sequence individually, which takes exponentially longer. Is there a fix for this? I'm on Win 10 on a Threadripper 3960X, but this has happened to me many, many times over the years on different machines.Alternatively, could you include a preference to show image sequences as a single file when importing? Then for example I'd see 5 files instead of 500. Thanks.

Hi! I'm here to ask if anyone has gone through this issue other than me, this issue just arose today,  prior to that i've never had this problem.  Some of the shortcuts I regulalrly use whilst editing my videos on aftereffects are not working in the right way,  for example; the keyboard shortcut to trim a layer to the timestamp marker is Alt+[ for windows, but instead of that happening, it's instead just doing the [ command only and moving my clip forward to meet the timestamp. Another one is that when I use the shortcut to apply an adjustment layer which is Ctrl+Shift+Y, it instead is doing the command Ctrl+Y and opening up a solid layer. I have tried going into the keyboard shortcuts to see if maybe there is an issue there and I have to manually change the command but that doesn't seem to be the issue. So if anyone has any tips please do let me know! Thank You.

hello people, i'm making an edit of me standing in front of the camera (in open air) Then I look to my left, and want to show the viewer what I'm looking at. So i turn the camera to the left and a big asteroïd is hanging in the sky. This asteroid is of course a still image.  i want the asteroid coming in with the swipe (and therefore the background)  very smoothly and stay at it's place when the camera movement stops. Tried it uncountable times with position keyframes but it just doesn't work. There's probably a solution here but didn't find it yet. Anyone can give me (a link to) the right answer? 

I started using the 2023 version of After Effects not too long time ago.Before that, I keep using the 2019 version.The reason is that the left item is missing from the switch view item, so I can't use the upper version anymore.When I usually work in 3D, I used to choose 4view - left.I have no choice but to use the 2023 version, but I don't have a left view item, so it's very inconvenient to work on it.Can't you give this back???Please give it back.This is stressing me out.

Hi,I have a shape layer, render changed to “cinema 4d”, extrude the layer in 3d space.I can add solid colors to “front, back, side” etc. How can I either add a texture to the front (glass or something), change the material of the whole layer (like in cinema 4 itself) if that is an option in AFX (?) or at least change the opacity of the front only (not the other sides), so it would become some kind of “glass/transparent” box (but still looks 3d)? I probably could split up into 2 layers (one just top flat surface, one 3d for behind with inverted mask of 1st) but is there another way? To keep it as simple as possible (because a lot of individual shapes).Thanks!

When I precompose a text layer,I found that although the outPoint time displayed in the precomp seems correct,the actual outPoint  time obtained is incorrect,resulting in issues with the outPoint expression,requiring a readjustment of the outPoint to be correct.After Effects 2024 24.3

After updating the latest version Media Encoder v24 crashes all the time. and I uninstalled the latest version to the previous version, but still, the crash happened. what to do next.

I can't import PSD file. It's freezing and I have to force quit AE 24.1.0. In After  Effects 24 beta version this import is woking fine.

Does anyone know how to make blossom flowers like in the video attached? Thanks
