After Effects

Hello,I need help from experts to understand something. I am super confused about it.  😥I am learning animation. Position has two value, X and Y. X control left right, Y up and down. in AE.So the tutorial am following there the tutor positions hands of a cartoon in a way that it has same Y value (638) and different X value (733,347). (I attached the figure)My question is if Y has same value they should be in the same line,in an up and down manner right?But in the tutorial that doesn't happen,hands are sitting side by side, and also the teacher changed the Y position with same number.I draw myself a graph, there I took (x,y)= (3,5), (2,5) , there I see both of them stay in same line in Y axis.I must be thinking something wrong. What is that. If my graph makes sense then why I am seeing something different in the tutorial?

I am trying to create a script and am not sure about how to add a scroll if items in that UI panel are more than viewport. help me out

I have tried:- adding an adjustment layet over all layers, whether they are pre compostions or clips (as shown in the screenshot)- adding the effects (sharpen, unsharp mask, saturation) straight to the clips or pre compositions- adding the adjustment layer inside all the individual pre compositionsBut, no matter what, I cannot get the effects to take effect when the video is rendered.

Hi there. I woke up this morning and chose destruction apparently....I updated my mac to the new OS Monterey Ver 12.0.1. Immediately after, I opened After Effects and started getting errors at startup. I figured it was a compatibility issue, so went into Creative Cloud and realized there was a brand new version waiting for me for AE (22.0). After waiting (half of the day) on updates- I hit a similar wall when I started up AE. Any ideas on what I should do now?! Thanks.

Hi, how do I centre the anchor point in a 3d object so I can for e.g. rotate it 'properly'? It is an originally imported .glb file and the regular method that works with shape layers etc doesn't seem to work.   

Podrian ayudarme, soy nuevo en estos programas, tenia el programa After Efects 2021 me lo instalaron en mi mac y lo e ocupado ahora que compre todos los paquetes me dice que debo de actualizarlo y no me deja seguir utilizando el mismo programa 2021, mi oregunta es que si actualizo el programa ahora a mi version de pago AE 2024 se mantienen mis ediciones del 2021 ? o se borrarian??? Me podrian ayudar???

I'm planning to purchase one of the following and wondering if After effects will run smoothly and sufficiently. -M2 Max 12core CPU, 30core GPU, 64GB memory. or  -M2 Pro 12core CPU, 19core GPU, 32GB memory.  I don't do motion graphics for a living, but I am a graphic artist using other adobe programs daily and planning to use after effects often. I am wondering because I heard many rumors about the current version of after effects not compatible with M1 or M2 chips or not being able to take full advantage of the memory allocation system of M1 or M2 chips.. For those who are running after effects on macbook pro, please advise me! Thanks in advnace!!

Both the brush and rotobrush tools do not work. When I start using them, after effects turns off.AE is updated to the latest 23.3.0Mac Studio M1 Ultra MacOS 13.3.1I can't work with those tools!Any solution?Thank you

Hey there ! I got a big problem whit the rotoscopi tool. Everything it's good until the preview and then the after effects close up . I can't continue working ...Somebody have this problem? How i can fix it? Thanks ! 

Hello!I have a 527x739 photograph with a figure in the foreground and a simple gray background. I'd like to take the background, and extrapolate it so that it fills an entire 1920x1080 frame, then cut out the figure with a mask, feather it, and make it appear that it's sitting in a larger background that fills the frame. The problem is the background is lightly textured. When I take a portion of it and copy it and move it to the edge to fill out more space, there's an obvious separation and it looks bad. I cannot find a blend mode that will make it look seemless.  Is there a way to blend it so that it fills the entire 1920x1080 frame and doesn't look like I've chopped up portions of them and stuck them together? Thank you!

I have a Mac with M2 and Ventura. I have installed the HAP encoder correctly but when I open After Effects it tells me that they are not compatible and that I have to open it with Rosetta, but in “get information” I do not get that option. Does anyone know any solution? thank you so much

I just installed After Effects on my computer and I can't seem to be able to move frame by frame with the arrow keys like in Premiere. Is there a setting that makes me enable that? I don't really know how to fix this problem.

After Effects converted my project, and some plugins stopped working (video copilot fx console) and made my presets disappear (from the effects & presets list). I also tried opening a new project file (to test) and all my presets and plugins were working fine. Any fixes?

After effects crashes instantly when opening most projects. No idea why! I have just repair installed windows, installed new GPU drivers and re-installed adobe CC and after effects.Crash report attached.  PC specs:AMD ryzen 5900x CPU 64gb ramrtx 3080 GPU

Color space is set to none, and I've tried exporting a bunch of different ways, but once I compress it to h.264, and bring the video back into after effects, the colors have changed

I don't know if I accidentally pressed something or not, but when I use puppet, I pin the image and drag as usual, but the image doesn't move along with it, so I don't know how to fix it.

Trying to Lip sync with a null layer but have no clue how to! every time i do the mouth either dissapears. It works if i move it by a single gone. I need help, please

I'm building a file, test rendered and found an OTS graphic is not looking right in the render, Text isn't centered between the two lines and it's not keying inside the layer I'm using as a matte for the text reveal. I checked the file Setup.1 and .2 and everything looks correct. I double check the setup, do a RAM preview and everything checks out correctly. I re-render the file and when it gets to this section, again I see this problem. I stop the render, recheck everything is fine. This is a time consuming render as I'm using the Roto Brushto create a DOF effect and it's due NOW! I've purged all the Cache files so it shouldn't be grabbing cached frames and I don't understand what's causing this. Not a newbie to Ae. Never seen this - could be a bug (this is the Beta 24.1 App). Still I switched to the beta version because this was happening in the Ae CC2024 version as well. Any insight would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

I have hundreds of shots with proxies in an AE comp distributed into many folders that mirror a Premiere Project.How do I disable the all the proxies in one go? Is there a way like in Premiere using the proxy switch button? Daniel

i was downloading a plugin for ae 2023 and i accidentally changed my aex. files to open with bittorent by mistake and i cant change it back and now whenever i try and add the plugin to the app it doesnt show up

I've created an animated title template in After Effects to be used Premiere. The template works well, except that we often need to include a registered trademark in the titles. Is there a way to allow the user to select a part of text to be superscript? I've seen some mention sourcerecttime to come up with a solution, but I don't believe that will work for me, since it could be in the middle or end of a line of text. "This is a great Product®" or "This Product® is great" I'm open to any solutions! Hi, I'm been 3D tracking different scenes all day to add call outs to a real estate video, then all of a sudden when I create a camera it only creates a single keyframe right at the beginning. I get the nodes and the target so I know the data is there but its just not creating the keyframes. I've restarted the program and the machine (macbook pro 2018, 15", 16gb RAM), created a new project, used a new clip but it still does it!! I'm sure I've just inadvertantly hit something on the keybord or changed a setting somewhere but I cant for the life of me figure it out - has anyone experienced this before?
