After Effects

So I'm working with a project that has many, many layers. Is there a way to perhaps group some of the layers together? Like eyes go in a folder and mouths go in another? Maybe there's something I can do in illustrator or photoshop to sort them out?

Hallo liebe Community, aktuell habe ich das Problem, dass After Effects bzw. genauer gesagt das PlugIn Bodymovin nicht alle Objekte/Elemente rendert. Ich brauche letztendlich ein SVG file. Wenn ich die Animation im AE abspiele, passiert das, wie ich es gerne haben möchte. Wenn ich es aber mit dem PlugIn Bodymovin rendere, erscheinen in der ausgespielten SVG-Datei nur zwei Elemente von zehn. An was könnte das liegen? 

Hi allI'm writing this on behalf of the end user (who I will refer to as "Bob") and I am hoping to get your help.Bob creates short animated videos and when he uses Adobe After Effects, it maxes out all available RAM and takes a long time to finish. We updated all available drivers via Windows, Dell and Nvidia but this did not do anything meaningful.We also tried disabling on-disk cache (as recommended on a reddit thread) but this didn't have any meaningful effect either. I googled his issues and I've learned that this appears to be the norm.Has anyone been able to either resolve this issue or find a workaround? I was also hoping if there are any workflow optimizations? The specs are below:Dell XPS 895012th Gen Intel Core i7-12700K128 GB RAMNvidia RTX 3070 8GBBoot Drive: SSDData Drive: HDD (not used for animations)Media Drive: SSD His workflow:I am receiving PNG background of about 4K resolution and SWFs on alphas to comp.I will add lots of effects from Boris ef

AE disables Undo on arbitrary situations making the editing painful.The issue is not related the heaviness of the last action, but can appear also on the smallest touches of an object (eg. rotating an object, typing a word, etc.).Tried updating AE and booting AE & Mac.Help?

Hello, I am doing a Duik IK animation. Part of the process is to bring in the layers 'retaining layer side' IE not the whole document bounds.  The problem that arrises is that if there is a rogue object or point in illustrator that needs to be edited illustrator, with 'retainted layer size' in use, it will see the whole layers bounding box and shift the relative position of the object. This can cause lot of issues. This is a general issue I have (not just duik)  What is the best way to get a layer to stay in position. Is it actull possible? Best wishesJulian

This is the script I made, but when I place it into the ScriptsUI folder, and launch it on After Effects it doesnt work as a dockable panel, just as a window. How can I convert it into a dockable panel??? Recreate the look of a spinning, neutron star.   In this tutorial, I share two different ways to create spinning, 3D, volumetric lights in After Effects. The first method uses  Boris FX's Stage Light plugin which can automatically simulate volumetric light from a comp light. But not everyone has access to BCC Stage Light, so I also show how to use the included Cinema4D Lite to get a similar look. Hello,I am learning expression basics. I learned that multidimensional values can be manipulated by one dimensional value.Like I can make a two dimensional thing (position) follow a rotation. Position will follow rotation in this case. I need to change the array; based on in which axis I want to be fixed.  I am experimenting this on my project.I want a shape’s position (x,y) to follow a trim path value.In this case trim path is one dimensional and position is two dimensional.So I activated the position’s expression field, whipped it to the trim path.And then the shape disappeared 😞  I must be doing something wrong.If a position can be manipulated by rotation, why can’t I manipulate it by one dimensional ‘trim path’?What am I doing wrong? Or, My understanding is incorrect. 

Hi! I cant run the AE Motion Tracker.I tried to reinstall the software already, also tried to use V2023 and the Beta Version.I can place the tracking point, but after hitting start - the software freezes for a short time untilbeeing back - without any tracking points.  

Dear Community, I'm trying to replicate an analog VU-meter in After effects by using expressions.( example : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDRQsyd9_K8 )So far I archieved to create an audioreactive peakmeter by using the waveform keyframe values to model the peaks. After the value is reached the peakmeter immediately drops to the next keyframe value. In analog systems there is usually a decay time of 300ms (see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDElTDFHVYw)Any tips how to include the decay time into the rotation property of my animated needle?Thanks in advance. 

I'm importing an illustrator file into AE, then creating shapes from vector layers. Some of the shapes, the bounding box fits right to, but some the bounding box fits the composition. Any ideas why this is?Thanks for any help.Best,Jeremy

Hi everyone, I'm encountering an issue with paragraph alignment when working with an Essential Graphics template I'm creating. Whenever I edit the text content of my main titles inside the comp, no problem, the text remains centered, but if I try editing the text from the EG panel directly, the paragraph alignment systematically switches to "aligned to the left", throwing my title out of the screen.   I already tried linking the text style to another centered text layer, but it won't take the paragraph alignment factor into account so, no success there... I'm working on Windows 10, using After Effects 23.6 although the project was created on 23.5. (and already had the issue). Anyone in the same case? Any idea of what causes it, any workaround?I've attached the working file, thanks for your suggestions! 

Hey everyone,I've been trying to find a solution to this problem for quite a while.My issue is pretty simple. im doing a video for a song and i have an image and a text with a saber effect but when i put the image for bakcground it doesnt show up or the effect doesnt show up 

I'm trying to export a simple animation from After Effects to a WebM file so it can be used as an OBS alert for my Twitch stream. However, when I export and render through AEM, the colour washes out and for some reason it has shifted my animation off centre and to the right by 50px. Not sure why it has done this. Is there a way to parametrically set one (or a selection of) word(s) inside a text source string to a certain property via an expression?If I have a text layer "ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE", all in font weight Light, is there a way to set only the third word (or whatever selected via an expression slider) to font weight Bold? (No, the Range Selector is not an option, unless you could use it to attribute text properties to a specific range - which at the moment it can't) The reason for setting via an expression is because it needs to be output to a Mogrt.If they used AE, they could just select the required word in the text string and set it to Bold, but thru Essential Graphics, this is not possible.

Hi,  As the title says, I've tried every solution I've found on the internet and nothing seems to be working. New projects and old projects crash. It sometimes opens the files, but crashes without warning while I'm working on it. Attached screenshots of the error messages I get.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled after effects, downgraded to after effects 2022, uninstalled all 3rd party plugins, started the application in Safe Mode, tried work arounds like importing an old project into a new one and reinstalled my GPUs. I'd like to know how I can fix this asap.
