Just wanting to bump this again as this is a pretty important issue I've seen mentioned in a few places. With the update to how AVID codecs are processed in v22.3, I have been forced to stay on 22.2.1 because the productions that I've worked on and the one I'm currently working on cannot import AVID Quicktimes that I render in v22.3 and later. In the release regarding this change, I believe this was said that it was done with the AVID team, but something is broken here because what used to work, no longer does. If I'm wrong here and there's a new procedure that I need to follow to get things to work, I would be grateful to know that. Sadly, as of now, I'm stuck on v22.2.1 and unable to enjoy the updates that have been released since. [Original Title: Still stuck on v22.2.1 due to AVID Codecs Change with v22.3]
With recent AE versions, we can import 3D objects into our projects - GLBs and OBJs within our scenes with Advanced3D renderer. I am testing a pipeline with GLB objects, that supposedly use complex shading, namely Adobe Standard Material.I have several questions:1) If and when the regular 3D layers will have back their AcceptLights switch? Contrary to those imported 3D objects, those layers can't be assigned fancy texture maps, don't use ASM, and have limited material properties, thus can't be lit by the same lightsources.2) If and when the 3D object layers will support Effects directly? Currently, even we use Calculations, even a simple color correction means a hell of effort and clutter.3) If and when Advanced3D renderer will suppot 3D Channel effects for compositions containing 3D objects? Currently, impossible to do depth-based compositing, whereas Classic 3D and C4D renderers are unable to render GLB/OBJ.In my case, I have to achieve a stylized toon shading for everything: flat an
Dear Adobe, Could you enhance the subtracting functionality to Mask on 360 video to be background process not to use foreground process? It might by affected when I run one more Video application such Quick time to play 360 video. It could be better to handle the process by Media Encoder after packaging or enhance the current file handling if there is no critical reason. Also it's necessary to enhance API for scripting. It will bring efficiency and effectiveness. Best regards,
When you select footage in the timeline in Premiere and select "Replace with After Effects Compositon", when it passes all the clips to After Effects could they just go into a folder instead of being spewed throughout the AE Project. Pretty much like importing a Photoshop file as a composition ... Puts the layers in a folder.
When previewing files in the project window, the size of the preview screen is very small and makes it hard to see. It would be great if there was a way to increase the size of this window so that you could quickly cycle through the files and pick whatever you needed at a glance. I know you can double click the file and it'll show up in its own large window, but this is time consuming and not super practical. In this case I'm dealing with doezens of files that are just rough sketches, and they're really hard to distinguish from one another as small previews.
Hi Adobe (Dirt brick/building block),I like your programs a lot but sometimes have connectivity issues. My program solely crashes because of the dynamic link and the checking of my Add-ons You have multiple options;- Work with Motion Design School: Denys is already working on an in-app platform- Work with AEscripts- Improve your Creative Cloud and make it easier to create plugins (For instance why does AE not have an action/record button?)- Remove the dynamic link completely and make the programs completely client-sided!I am curious what it is going to be 🙂
It's not exactly a secret that keeping your files and folders and AE links clean can be a massive pain. I think it could be game changing in terms of productivity to have a setting that automatically imports files to the relative footage folder on drag and drop or import This way we wouldn't have to endlessly collect files and folders anymore and it would just overall be much easier to keep track of the project and its dependencies. This has proven to be a useful workflow that works in other environments as well.
Every time I work with masks, selecting individual points without tripping over into the transform frame or selecting every single point on the mask rather than the one that I want is an idiot dance. PLEASE - Just add a tool that ONLY selects the points on a mask. It cannot select or do anything else... just select points on the mask and moves them. No transform handles, no rotation popups... Just points.
Just this, what if label colour in after was a little coloured square... it wll be easier to find the "Orange" label but probably "Sea Foam" will be less choose, it'll loose a lot of poetry. Nevertheless, it'd be simple and no translation will be needed.
The Position Icon exists in the Effects Control Panel but they don't carry over to the Essential Graphics Panel. I understand that Point Control may be used for other than Position and hence, the Position Icon may be misleading. So, perhaps either allow for a way to remove the Icon OR create new Control specifically for 2D Position and 3D Position and 2 and 3-Dimensional Arrays.
I am reposting this from a topic I posted in the bugs area. I was hoping to see if there was some feedback from Adobe but hadn't heard a peep so I am posting this here hoping for some real actionable results when it comes to After Effects reading, caching and playing back multichannel EXR files. Any format. For years the community has been asking for the EXR workflow to speed up and for years this community is still frustrated in Adobe's response to this. Yes, there have been some nice tweaks to how AE interperates the files, helping us shuffle the multichannels a little easier. But the speed in which files are played on the timeline is just rediculously slow, even when working with HD frames. With more and more users leaning into 3D in their daily work, and wanting to have as much conrol over the final output of their imagery, the After Effects team needs to put a higher priority on this request. You would think that compositing exrs would move up on the list of requests since the
In Illustrator, clicking on a gradient adds a stop with the exact color value where the gradient was clicked. This UX pattern makes sense, rather than the Photoshop/After Effects pattern whereby it adds one of the existing stops again where the gradient is clicked (which stop? The one to the left of the cursor for some reason!). Illustrator's solution is super helpful to find exact values at any point along the gradient, as well as creating a very specific "ease" to the gradient colors.
Using the search bar in the timeline we are able to search for multiple properties/effects in one go. It would be nice if in addition to search for them we were able to select them too!(Most of the times you don't want just to see them)https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-discussions/search-and-select/m-p/11942647
This gizmo is neat but most 3d applications give you the option to resize it. This thing is way too big. I did just read that you can go back to the old one (ctrl+shift+1 and back with shift+v), but it would be nice to be able to use this one smaller.
Please add support for importing HEVC (H.265) clips with an alpha channel
Please make scrolling with your mouse wheel possible in dropdown menus, fonts, blending modes, etc. This makes the workflow so much better. I believe it is possible on mac, but not on windows.
Hello,I think it would be great if, when we copy paste a mask, the mask mode also gets pasted (add,substract,intersect...). In my opinion, in 90% of copy/paste cases, we, users, have to set the mask mode to how it was. Please upvote this suggestion if you agree on this.
I do work compositing Visual Effects renders with live footage. I need to use color charts to match between VFX renders and live footage for the best output. After Effects has nothing built in like DiVivci Resolve, and none of the color chart manufacturers have plug-ins to do this. Right now, I often go to Nuke or DiVinci to do this, adding another process and making me think of leaving After Effects altogether and working in these other packages. It feels like a marketing or legal issue that slows productivity and something that should be in the product in this day and age. Are there any good plug-in's that can do this? Thanks,Jeff
Hey why couldn't we have Media Encoder directly embeded inside after effects just like your render queues but a separate window panel with media encoder?
The ability for After Effects to see and use an eGPU unit to take advantage of more GPU power.
It would be so good if After Effects could detect any embedded colourspce info in video / still files and assign it automatically on import.
Some effects require subtile tweaking in 0.01 steps, or even smaller.Unfortunately Ae only shows 1 decimal, until the value is clicked. E.g. 0.0 can actually have a value of 0.001 I would like a situation, where more decimals are shown, or at least all leading zero's and the first relevant decimal: 0.0 shows as 0, but 0.01 and 0.001 and 0.0001 should should show all decimals.
Make the parenting and track matte pick whips different colors. Depending on my setup, they can be in different locations, and it drives me nuts when I quickly grab the wrong one and don't get the result I want.
If you will pre-comp a comp with markers, the markers are visible but they are not being updated in the first comp when you move them. This feature would be really useful for projects that require syncing. I am using comp makers for syncing texts in my lyric video templates.
I've always animated at 30fps, so 3x "super" or big nudges (i.e. cmd/opt + shift + arrow keys) has always equaled 1 second, as super nudges are 10 frames. Recently I've begun animating at 24fps, so now 3x super nudges is 1 ¼ seconds. It would be great if we could adjust the value of a super nudge to be whatever we want, or at the very least step it down to 8 or up to 12 frames.
