Hi. So I have a video layer in a pre-comp that has the Add Mode applied. When I place the pre-comp into the main comp.....the Add mode doesn't work. Now the thing is, I want to make that layer (pre-comp) a 3D layer so I can't use the "collapse transformations" option. Does anyone have any suggestions please?Thanks for your time!

I'm looking for a plug in or script that could help with a very specific issue. I have an object that is out of focus and I need to replace what is behind it. I'm aware of the regular methods and techniques to achieve this, but I'm looking for a faster way. I'm looking for a way to use a filter such as Stroke or Edge Finder in conjunction with a mask to create an outline on the layer. I want to mask the object at the point of the last solid bit before the blur begins and apply a filter that creates a stroke on the mask. Instead of using a single color the stroke, I want to have it sample the color of the pixels of the image at the edge of the mask and expand them outward. Basically, I want fake a "Strait Alpha" so I can defocus from there. Does anyone know of anything that can help achieve this? Thanks.

I am facing a serious issue with Adobe After Effects. As soon as I open my project, After Effects starts hanging and becomes completely unresponsive. Along with the software, my entire PC also starts hanging and I am unable to do any work. Please help me resolve this problem as soon as possible.

Hi.I'm getting a crash everytime I export my animations from after effects. I've updated all my graphics browser, my BIOS, turned off multiframe rendering, turned off GPU excelerator, I uninstalled then re-installed After Effects and Media Encoder, I exported with Media Encoder but still I get the same problem. I export with after effects and still get the same problem.Please help. I have no idea what to do now.I have Windows 11, 32GB of ram and 4GB GTX 1650 GPU with an Ryzen 5 5600 CPU. My pc specs are good and drivers and software is up to date. 

Hey guys, running into a weird issue in after effects 25. when i try to preview a small project, hitting play just freezes the video on one frame. switching between comps doesn’t update the image either, though the rest of the panels still work. the preview panel button changes from stop to play, but nothing moves. only restarting ae helps. anyone know how to fix this? My pc: rtx 5070 ti, ryzen 9 9950x3d, 64gb ram

Hi,I would like to be able to select a group of path points in a precomp and then manipulate them as a group -- rotating the group for example.  Is this possible?  Thanks!  

I’ve spent the past few hours trying to troubleshoot an issue where my position keyframes keep bouncing back and forth on one specific slide, and I can’t pinpoint the cause. The issue is with the spotlight gradient composition moving from the first keyframe to the second. I’ve already confirmed that all keyframe interpolation is set to linear and checked for any hidden bezier handles that might be affecting the motion path. I've checked the main comp panel as well as the value graph. I’ve deleted and rebuilt the keyframes multiple times, restarted both the software and my computer, and even updated the program, but the problem persists. None of the other keyframes are doing this, so I’m completely stumped at this point—has anyone run into this before or know what might be causing it? Maybe I'm not looking closely enough? Let me know if there are more helpful images I can attach. Thanks!

Hey everyone,Since this morning I’ve been encountering very unusual problems with my After Effects, Premiere Pro and parts of the Illustrator UI (haven’t tested any other apps).Whenever I select a panel it immediately looses focus and deselects itself. Yes, I have this bug too.  What is this thing? From the limited info here, some say "bad fonts" and others say during rendering. Well, I have no fonts installed, just stock AE useage. I would get this pop up during playback and sometimes rendering.Doesn't crash.  But will reappear after a while.I timed it out, and it's every 5 mins... MMMmmmm    the same 5 mins as my auto save.My auto save just happened to be maxed out at 50 saves, (long session) and all new auto save back ups  would have to delete one, and then save one.I'm not sure, but I'm thinking now, the maxed out auto save might have a bug? I increased my auto save to 100, and so far, no BIB Error code.I'll check when it hits 100 and see if that big comes back. Just wild speculation, but there might be a pattern. Thoughts?? 

Hi Everyone!  I have Been working with adobe products from the Macromedia Flash & Action Script days.! Usually i come up with simple scripts to speed-up my work. i went a step further and curated some of the scripts i have and have a working "plugin" - basically a ScriptUI panel.  Simple text Animator - it basically exposes the TextAnimator options that are available with a textlayer. Here i plan to add more types of animations, this was inspired by animation-composer. There were system (not PC) restrictions to install plugins from market. Autofade is a simple script that will fade-in and fade-out any layer. this button will just add that expression onto opacity property of the layer. Easing Curves - This is again just exposing the functionality within graph editor for easier access, this was inspired by Flow plugin - which again due to system restrictions i was not able to install plugins. Composition Creator - Full fledge video assitant - from script

Hi! I have a weird problem with my After Effects. I've never used it before and I also tried downloading a bunch of different versions to see if it helps. But it didn't. The problem is that there is a rectangle within the bigger rectangle. I can't select anything on the bigger one and it will only show on the smaller one. That makes it very difficult to work with.Let me know if there are more photos needed to explain what I mean!I hope someone responds cuz I need after effects for school 😭

I imported my file like normal, making sure the video is in an accepted format. However, I cannot drag and drop anything into my composition. I click and hold, attempting to drag the clip to my timeline from the project panel, but nothing happens. I have never had this issue before and I've been using AE for years. I uninstalled it from this computer (Windows/PC) last year and was only using my MacBook to edit. Since reinstalling AE to this computer, I cannot edit anything because I can't drag files into my timeline. Does anyone else have this issue and/or know a fix? 

Hello, I'm trying to export and render an After Effects file (which I have rendered before), and I keep getting this message... "After Effects error: Attempted to render a frame with an unsupported frame size (30425 x 6148). The frame size must be between 1 and 30000 pixels for both width and height.Please check layer dimensions and the output from any effects that may be modifying layer content. ( 37 :: 102 )". I think it has something to do with a transition that I imported and used, but I've rendered it before with no problem. I don't know how to find the issue or how to fix it. Any ideas that I could try ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Hello everyone! I’m working on a couple of motion graphics projects that require a lot of versioning — 13+ languages, different intros, outros… you know how it goes 🙂I’m currently on a Mac Studio M2 Max, which is pretty fast for what I do, but each video has so many versions that even with quick render times, I still end up spending half a day rendering 100+ variations per video.I’m considering adding a mini PC as a dedicated render node using Media Encoder, and I was wondering if anyone here has experience running After Effects to render this way. If you’ve tested specific brands, configurations, or setups that let you keep working on the main machine while the node handles renders, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience. My other choice is to get a refurb macbook pro, which are quite cheat right now to handle this. Cheers,DC

Multiple times when i am trying to edit an object on after effects, or even zoom into the screen, after effects just stops working.  Anyone facing similar issues? i am using Asus Tuf f16
