When working on multiple projects with different frame rates it is time consuming to ensure that footage being brought in (in this case image sequences) is interpreted correctly. It currently requires manually interpreting each imported sequence if the project frame rate differs from the rate set in Preferences > Import. More than once when jumping between projects I've failed to notice that a sequence has been interpreted at a different frame rate than intended, and needed to go back and fix later. It would be very useful to have the option to set the default assumed frame rate on a per-project basis. One suggestion for where it could live would be in Project Settings > Time Display Style - maybe a checkbox titled 'Match imported file sequences to project frame rate'? Another option would be to have a checkbox in Preferences > Import to 'Use project frame rate' or similar. This would be valuable to me as it would reduce errors when working across mult
The MediaCore folder is pretty handy to keep plugins between versions when upgrading versions. But scripts & presets still need to be copied manually (which is quite annoying). If there's a location like MediaCore where all AE versions can pull plugins from, why shouldn't there be such a location for scripts & presets? My biggest pain point in upgrading is "all" the manual work involved, which feels strange since updating itself is real easy with the CC app.
I have a project with many comps that have similar text in them. I wanted to use expressions to link each text layer to a Primary comp that would control all the other text layers. This way, all the comps automatically have the same text as the Primary comp, and if I fix a typo in the primary comp, all the layers pointing to it automatically update. The expression I'm using on the "subscribing" text layer looks like this:comp("PrimaryComp").layer("[TEXT LAYER] 04-TextLayer").text.sourceText It works to get the text from the 04-TextLayer in PrimaryComp, but the text formatting doesn't appear the same. Hence my wish that formatting would appear in the layers using this expression.
Currently you can add a mogrt to a library, then use that mogrt only in Premiere. We should be able to drag a mogrt from the library panel into an AE project, which would create a master comp that can be instanced like normal. It would be very helpful to be able to maintain a persistent library of master comps.
Back in the day of After Effects CS5 and 5.5 , it was included an amazing effect, capable of displacement in 3D also 3D distortion of a layer (similar do Bezier Warp, but in 3D space). It was called FreeFormAEAlthough Mettle still exists and sells those plugins (in Pro version and Standard GPU accelerated), it would be an AMAZING extra into After Effects if that partneship returned and this filter was again included in the bundle of AE. Much similar like the partnership Adobe has with Cycore Effects, Boris FX or even Maxxon, to include their plugins.
It would be helpful to be able to rotate the guides to specific angles. Objects, points or transformations could then be snapped to them for consistency across all the elements in a comp. It would be handy for creating isometric or perspective grids. Giving scripting access to Guide Rotation could allow complex automatically generated grids and dynamic perspective guides.
It would be great if AE had an option to stabilize the view around a selected element (layer or mask or anything). This would be VERY helpful for rotoscoping, removing stuff when content aware wouldn't work, and for correcting bad tracking (for exemple). I'm currently erasing something frame by frame on an hand held shot, and I keep recentering the composition view. Thanks for you help
I would like to see the "Flip Horizontal" feature for layers upgraded. At this point all it does, it goes to scale property of selected layer, uncheckes the constrain proportions and puts minus in front of the number in horizontal dimension. Which works, if there are no keyframes already in the scale property. If there are keyframes already present, the function just creates a new keyframe at the time where time indicator currently is and flips that one keyframe and doesnt touch any other keyframe, which results in distorted, rotating layer, rather than flipped layer. So my suggestion would be, that the function would first check if there are any scale keyframes already present and if yes, it would flip all the keyframes already present without creating a new one.
Hi,could we have an option to group render jobs in the render queue.Maybe into collapsible groups or folders?.Yes very often I have projects that have more than one render job - actually more than 50 🙂Also I tend to not delete rendered jobs, I just reenable them and uncheck them - just to have them ready for future renders. This way the Render Queue gets quite long and busy. For now I bring some order with assigning color labels to jobs but just being able to hide groups of them (into a single item in the list) would be very helpfull 🙂
Not the same thing as feathering the matte, but actually applying a blur to the edges of the object (based on the alpha) where blur depth and intensity can be adjusted.
Add a blending effect (or mode) like Nuke's addmix, that allows curves/levels adjustment of the background plate to better integrate the comp'd object.
Creative cloud now has auto-update on by default. So coming in Monday morning, mid way through prodution and it's updated every app to the latest version that we haven't tested. All plug-ins and scripts need to be re-licensed and haven't been moved across anyway. Please have this off by default like it used to be, we can't be updating constantly in production. Thanks.
Hi,I find myself rendering (prerendering) a lot of comps and then reusing the ready renders just to speed up my wrkflow. It would be great if after a finished render we could just select a finished render job and drag it into the project panel - this would result in importing the file we that the selected job rendered. If the job had two outputsm draggig the job imports both of them, dragging a selected job output would import just that output 🙂
Sometimes it is still necessary for every layer to have its own track matte and it would be quicker and easier to be able to select all of those layers at once and tell them to matte to the layer above them with one click. This used to be possible but appears to no longer be so in the new track matte UX. A seemingly obvious solution to this would be to add it as an option in the track matte layer pull down box (maybe at the top with "none" or something).
I have this Comp where each layer needs two instances of the Distort/Transform effect. However, when I copy the 2nd Transform effect from one layer and paste it to a second layer that already contains a Transform effect, the effect from the clipboard overwrites the existing effect (which is unselected), in stead of adding it. This is not always desirable. Please make this more logical and consistent: only overwrite selected effects.
Shape Layer Shapes can be twisted and zigzagged, but there is no way the Shear a Shape.. Please add a Shear deformation to the Add: menu.
When right clicking on any media in a Premiere Pro timeline, there is an option to "Replace with After Effects Composition." This creates a brand new AE composition in whichever After Effects file is open at the time. There should be ADDITIONAL OPTIONS in this dropdown menu. For example: when hovering over the current "Replace with After Effects Composition" option, when right clicking media in a Premiere Pro timeline, there should be MORE options.Examples might include: "Replace with EXISTING After Effects Composition," as well as "Create New After Effects Composition" (which could do the same thing the native option does now - opening a brand new comp in whichever AE file is open at the time). The fact that users can't choose an existing AE Comp is extremely frustrating. It forces the user to copy and paste elements from an existing AE file to the new composition that has just been created. These additional options would allow for much simpler re-linking capabilities as well, especially
The new larger key frames with borders are really bad. Previous I could easily grab and move them and see the separation on the timeline. Now they just appear to overlap. Even grabbing them seems next to impossoble compared to before. Please consider adding an option to use previous keyframe format/appearence.
Hi I would love a measuring stick tool to measure the distance between 2 points.Cuz the workflow of using 2 rulers than doing 1 minus the other to figure out the distance is a bit cumbersome.Video of a measuring tool rig made in Expresso by the legend Ukramedia Much love, Dierenwinkel
Hi currently when you sepperate dimentions in Ae it deletes the easings. Please reapply the easing. I get that it's not possibe to do when you go from 2 different easings back into 1 property. But when you go from 1 property to 2 properties this should be possible. (just apply the same easing to both keyframes) Or from 2 properties with the same easing to 1 property it should work. (just apply the same easing to the keyframe) Much love, Dierenwinkel
The audio waveform disappears when you uncheck the speaker. I get why this is but its kind of annoying. Please have an option in the settings to disable this behavior. Or change it entirely. https://i.gyazo.com/4d0ab1faa2eb302523e68bfae26abaad.mp4 Here is a vid of the issue. Much love, Dierenwinkel
1. start with a comp in AE (in my case 8k30) 2. add to render queue 3. set format to quicktime prores 422 16 bit, set destination file name/folder 4. click on "queue in AME" 5. AME launches 6. AME shows the item to render as H.264 Match Source - High Bitrate (why does AME not have QT PR showing at this stage?) please have AME use the render settings specified in AE, and not something elseThis bug was NOT present in CC22Adobe CC 23, freshly updated to all the latest on Oct 22, 2022Win 10 21H1 v19043.2130, ryzen 5900x, 128GB RAM, nvidia 3090
When working in a remote/hybrid team production environment across multiple operating systems, filesystems, and cloud storage/syncing services, busted filenames tend to break things or work unexpectedly for different users. Sure, some users love to use exotic naming (usually to sort files in their preferred manner), and if they want to continue shooting themselves in the foot, let ‘em 😆 . But if the File Name and Location Template panel or After Effects’ preferences could have a setting to enable automatic naming sanitization, that’d be awesome. Some automatic naming could be:Spaces could be automatically replaced by underscores, or removed when the first character is a space.Accented characters replaced with unaccented equivalents (ñ to n, é to e, etc. I realize this could be complex for non-English users)Remove/prevent special characters and punctuation, like !@#[] etc, etc. Currently when picking up work from others, I use another app to rename/sanit
Hi currently when you split an audio layer it closes the waveform. Please change this.I recently learned the shortcut L L so it makes it less painful but when you wanna cut up your audio layer in Ae this workflow is very painful. Here is a video of the issue https://i.gyazo.com/3c1c8d9ac5dd0a48c2ed111301302995.mp4 Expected behavior:When you have the waveform open of the audio layer, and your splitting or duplicating, keep the waveform open! Much love, Dierenwinkel
Hello. Have you ever thought about automatic video editing? For example, we have 10 videos, and by analyzing them some sequence was gathered. Maybe based on the movement in the frame or their interestingness (some kind of machine learning) or something that would let us know that this part of the video should definitely be edited. Would it be interesting to hear your thoughts?
