After Effects

Hi all,I've recently returned to After Effects and am having trouble viewing anything in my composition window. I've uploaded a screen grab of a short animation I did a while ago here, and you can see the preview of the project in the Project window, but I can't get anything to appear in the composition window. I thought it was just having the caps lock on, but that's not sorted it. I can't think of anything else, so wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Hi folks, pretty new to After Effects (usually edit in Prem pro) so need help id possible?Basically as a proof of concept for a longer video, I need to place the head from clip 1 onto the skeleton in clip 2.So far have managed to rotoscope the head in clip 1, and motion track the dots on the head of the sheleton in clip 2.If someone could give a step by step guide relevan to the latest edition of AE, that would be great. AS you know out there there's loads of advice but I can't find anything up to date or specific for thsi problem.Cheers!!!

HELP!!!! Trying to make a simple particle effect of leaves falling, but cant seem to import texture (the option isnt there). I was following this tutorialThings i've tried:-Looking up tutorials, but the tutorials seem to have the "texture" option while i dont-Saw an old reddit thread 6 years ago with the guy having the same issue. Applied the effect to the layer with the texture and it didnt work. I've been having this problem lately where After Effects gets stuck at the end of a render, without ever finishing it; but at the same time, when I check the render folder, it has finished the render. I always work in image sequences, so when some render breaks it's not usually a problem, but this has happened multiple times now and with some semi-simple renders, so it's strange. Here's a screenshot of the render queue I left last night:As you can see, the render queue got stuck at the end of the very first render. However, when I went to check the render folder, my surprise is that it seemed done: all the frames were there, with their corresponding information, the sizes were correct and they looked fine. So that's the most strange part. Even though After Effects said only 397 frames were processed, I found the whole 419 of them. And again, this has happened multiple times in the past few days. I know there is a quick and simple fix to this, but I've hit a roadblock. It's my first time using a Red Giant plugin, very happy with the results of my project so far, thanks to the plugin. Im using the Trapcode Particular effect to create a bubble particle logo look for my logo. Im having trouble finding a way to end the effect in unison. So far, I only have the center part fading away early, while it takes the rest of the logo a couple more seconds to fade. I know the reason it is doing this is because of the logo being matted as a shape layer, which is animating the expansion movement. Since the orb in the center is the first to be seen, it is also the first to fade away. I've tried messing with the Life Seconds slider of the Particles, but it doesn't seem to change the timing. Hey,so After Effects is not performing very well on my PC. Sometimes its so bad that my PC Frezzes and i have to power reset it. I ran some checks and the Problem is that when After Effects is open my VRAM Usage Jumps from 300 mb in use to 7,8 GB in use. I check and it looks like After Effects is using almost all of my VRAM on my GPU. That causes the System to Frezze. PC SpecsCPU : Ryzen 7 2700x AIO : Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE CAPELLIX 360MM GPU : RTX 3070 Gaming OC RAM : Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 16 GB 3200MHz Here are to Screenshots of the Problem Without After Effts I dont know why After Effects does that and it only happens when i render the Project with my GPU, the second problem it that it doesnt even peform good. A frame glitch after making it into a comp.  I have used roto in it and it came perfect. When i made this into a comp it appears like this     

I'm seeing a strange issue where I try to draw a layer mask with the pen tool, and instead of adding a path point where my mouse is, the new point is on top of the first one, and it's given handles that reach where the mouse is.  I have a layer selected, I definitely know how to use the pen tool, and I can create shape layers just fine. The issue is drawing a mask on an image layer.  I can use the polygon tool and make a square, and add and move points, to get the desired mask but that's just an awful solution.  This problem has occurred over many projects, and I've restarted my computer and the application several times.  I just updated AE as well.I have no idea why it's acting crazy or really even what's happening and would LOVE some assistance.(the cursor wasn't captured but it was above the first letter on the right, where the handle is)

I have my colour workflow set to Rec.709 Gamma 2.4 accross the board. So Photoshop, AE, Premiere are all set to the same profile. Everything looks fine in Adobe's apps. I can play the files back in Premiere and as long as I have the Lumetri Colour viewer gamma option set to Gamma 2.4, they look fine. Same in AE, they look fine. When I view the files in various media players and on YouTube, the brightness is shifting. What is the best approach here? Should I be rendering a final version out with a gamma shift for uploading to YouTube? Would this be done by setting an output profile to sRGB Gamma 2.1 in the render module? I've seen people using a weird QuickTime Gamma LUT too. What a headache! I just want to upload videos to YouTube and have them look the same as what I can see in Creative Suite. I'm not overly technical so I'm just after some simple, practical advice. Thank you!

I make videos where I darken scenes using brightness and contrast to lower brightness, then have the scenes light back up, again, based on music using Sound Keys. The problem I run into a lot is that white does not darken the way everything else does by lowering brightness. I use hue / saturation at times to lower lightness but that usually leaves it looking a flat and unnatural gray. I know I can using masking and adjustment layers to lower exposure or other tricks, but I am looking for a way that will simply allow me to use an effect or plugin that will handle the white for me without masks or isolating all of the white elements in the scene.  I am less interested in realism than the need to have the white appear visually like all of the colors and react with brighness in a nearly identical way so that the viewers' eyes do not get drawn to the white areas due to a seeming contrast to how colors react when the dark to light shift happens with sound keys. Not s

I have created a plugin that tints an image with a color. In a previous post, I explained how the iterate function was iterating over every pixel of the sequence, and not the clip, leading to performance issue and bugs. The issue was partially solved by passing an effect area to the function. I’m working on a very basic project (just resizing a clip inside another, no effects or animation), and AE freezes as soon as I try to scale a layer. hello everyone,So im new to after effects and im trying to make an edit, but to make one of the transitions I have to use an adjustment layer and put it above the two clips i want the transition to be in. The problem is that whenever i apply the transform effect and change the position to the adjustment layer it doesn't seem to add any effect to my clips, meaning that when i play the video its like nothing happened, like no edit or change was made. My guess is that my adjustment layer isn't working.If someone knows how to fix this it would really mean a lot!Thanks! XOXO

I recently upgraded to a Mac with an M4 Max chip, and transferred my old mac over. I have an old version of Particular, which I know won't work on this machine. Every time I start up AE, I get a warning message that particular has failed to load. I have no idea how to get rid of this message. Other threads have suggested deleting things from the following locations:/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Plug-ins/7.0/MediaCore/Trapcode/Applications/Adobe After Effects 2025/Plug-ins/Format/Trapcode I've checked both of these, and these folders don't exist- I can't find any folders relating to Particular on my machine. I've tried reinstalling After Effects, no luck. Can anyone help?
