After Effects

When pasting text with "non-breaking space" character (ASCII Code 160) After Effects interprets it as a line break when it should just be a space. Here is a string you can use to test: "Try pasting this intro After Effects" I'm currently on macOS 26 and AE 25.4 but I've encountered this bug for many years. Thanks

Mac Studio 2023 Apple M2 Ultra 192GB ram Mac OS Ventura 13.5 running AE2023 23.6 Getting this error when trying to run camera tracker. First error is "Unkown Exception"followed by "After Effects error: Could not launch Adobe Analysis Server. (515) ( 25 :: 101 ) I've seen this posted before but on older versions of AE. Most solutions reference steps to take on a PC, not on a mac.  Other solutions also seem to indicate virus software, of which I do not have.   Based on previous errors with camera tracking and "dynamic link" I'm guessing this has something to do with a plugin, but hard to pinpoint that.  Hopeful for any other feedback or ideas.

I render out Cinema DNG files using After Effects all the time. 24.3 Mac (intel) has something seriously broken with it when it comes to accessing DNG sequences over an SMB network connection. Prior versions worked fine with no issue. Windows version not impacted.  Everytime I open an existing project, it first asks to convert it to the new format and then it gives me a dozen or more errors: After Effects error: Photoshop file format error (-1). (45::35) Some details:AE for Mac (Intel) version 24.3.0 (build 50)Footage where this is occurring is Cinema DNG format.Files are stored on a TrueNAS server connected by SMB over 10Gbe Ethernet.Prior to this I have seen PS have issues occasionally opening DNGs on network drives but never AE.Oddly, when previewing C-DNG sequences, it shows most frames just fine.All DNGs are confirmed to be valid and not corrupted or special in any way.Prior versions of AE did NOT have this issue.Does not occur on Windows version of After Effec

Hello, I have a project where I need to showcase multiple rows of names, hundreds of thousands of them, scrolling through a long 15K x 2K resolution screen. These names are going to be sourced from a spreadsheet (I believe sales force), converted into a .csv file.  They don't need to be animated, I was planning to just manually keyframe the scrolling motion myself. I just need each row of names to be connected to their own individual text layer. My Specs:Mobile Nvidia RTX 5090Intel(R) Core Ultra 9 275HX, 2700 Mhz, 24 Core128 gigs of DDR5 Ram4 Terabytes of NVMe SSD Storage. Hey there, guys! I've been getting back into editing, but for some reason, After Effects keeps freezing even when I am doing nothing more than moving clips around in the timeline. Even worse, the program won't quit even when I try to kill the process in Task Manager. The only solution I have found is to restart my laptop altogether. I've tried almost every solution imaginable, yet I've seen no improvement. This all started when I tried to motion track and stabilize some footage in After Effects, but it froze almost instantly. Description of the Issue:When editing in Premiere Pro, I use the "Replace with After Effects Composition" feature on a piece of footage. After Effects opens and allows me to make changes with no issue. As it appears, this is a free of charge plugin by RxLaboratory.Are there any costs to installing this since this is an enterprise license. Our certified re-sellers had no answer and pointed out to this community for help. Hello Adobe,It all happened since I updated my software. I had many pending updates for all my Adobe software, but as soon as I updated them, my After Effects started crashing repeatedly. I tried all possible solutions, followed everything I found in the community with similar issues, but I still have the same problem.Attached are the errors that I am facing. Rotobrush keeps crashing AE. I was on previous version yesterday of AE and I started encountering the error. I only have 1 shot left to complete. I updated AE, and still rotobrush crashes. I made a consolidated version of the project, and deleted current rotobrush all other effects, Started rotoing from strach, and then crash. I've cleared caches, restarted and as i already said, checked and updated AE. I can not complete this project because of this crash. Hi, I'm working on a brand new desktop with After Effects and suddenly after a few moments of uploading a file, the composition freezes and the timeline also stops moving. It seems to happen to all the new projects I open. I have tired restarting the app but it always freezes and does the same thing after just a few moments in. It also somewhat lags behind when I go to other panels? I'm wondering if this is a problem related to my CPU or GPU. Hi all:  I'm still trying to learn the roto-brush tool but I'm having some growing pains that I can't find answers to online.  The video I'm working with is a plane taking off and flying out over the ocean.  Attached is a picture of the scene I'm working with.  It's a 20 second clip.  I'm trying to mask the grass, the water, and the sky, all separately. 1. I'm having trouble keeping the mask from moving or breaking up when rendering it.  I'm constantly adjusting it and having to train it.  While the roto-brush sees the lines perfectly when I do it frame by frame, once I playback it starts to shift slightly.  I understand that the line between the sky and the water is faint, but again, it sees it perfectly when I do it manually frame by frame.  Also, the line between the water and the grass seems to brake up and move as well. 2. I don't understand the concept of the Refine Edge tool.  I get that it's supposed to be used for jag

I'm not talking about blending modes, I mean the thing in 'shop with the splitable sliders to remove the lighter or darker tones from a layer?  If not, what could I do in AE to achieve something similar? I have a comp where I have some footage at a gig... I've added an element on top & made it look like it's part of the background (tracking, blurring, etc.) but for about 5 frames, the motion-blurred hand of one of the characters in the footage passes "behind" the new object instead of in front. I've duplicated the footage, put it in front & created a "garbage matte" around the hand.  The hand is light, the background is dark, the footage is very low quality & it's just for fun. Rotoscoping the hand is not really an option (with my limited skills plus it's very blurry). If I were in photoshop, I'd just go to my blending options, remove the darker tones & split the sliders to get a feathered edge but I'm not sure whether or not such a quick f

Hi, I want to control the opacity of a layer by the position of another layer. I dnt know why my expression is not working. Please correct me where I am making mistakes. How to check other frame 

It’s frustrating that After Effects scripts can’t access or handle the text from modal alert panels. I understand there are technical and security reasons, but as developers, this limitation blocks us from creating more intelligent, user-friendly tools. There should be a safe, official way to catch or read these messages programmatically without compromising security. Why hasn’t Adobe addressed this in a more developer-friendly way?

While After Effects is excellent for compositing and animation, its current duplication and instancing workflow is extremely manual and outdated compared to modern tools. The Problem Currently, duplicating objects and managing variations in AE requires a combination of precomps, parenting, expressions, or third-party tools. This process is slow, lacks flexibility, and is not visually intuitive—especially when working with large numbers of repeated elements in motion graphics, UI, or pattern-based animation. No crash if loaded onto a Solid (makes no sense but just tot test) When loaded on an EXR layer the effect crashes After Effects.   Even the latest beta of AE crashes, the difference there is that it crashes immediately and closes the app instead of giving the windows below.   Win 11 AE 25.5.0b4 RTX 3090Ti / NVSD 581.29   Does not crash on a Mac.  

I've not had an issue adding rounded corners to a stroke before... been using the same technique multiple times until this suddenly occurred.Made a stroke with several right-angle cornersClicked 'Add' and selected Rounded CornersChanged the value to my desired roundness (in this case, 71)And only SOME of the vertices are becoming rounded...  This is new to me.
