After Effects

Hello, I was using Roto brush got everything that I wanted and froze it however, when I played it back, my subjects body goes transparent for a frame so I jump back into after effects to try to roto brush this one frame I don't really know how to properly unfreeze? or to tell if it's unfrozen? And secondly, now my Roto brush layer everything is blacked out except what I already wrote a brush. How do I turn off that?

After Effects crashes on my Mac (M1 Max, 64GB RAM /  32 Core) whenever I import a video or perform similar actions—spinning wheel of death every time. It works fine on Windows 11, but I’d really prefer to finish the project on macOS. Any ideas on a fix? I could really use the help.

Hello, I am trying to use CC Libaries in After Effects and am running into a resolution issue. Multiple Photoshop files in my libary import into after effects at very low resolutions. However the source for this libary is high resolution. When I important this same file into photoshop instead of after effects, it is also high resolution. The low resolution issue is only coming from After Effects. An Example:  Any help is appricated! Thank you!

Hi! I'm new to the AE community and new to learning the program. I know some very basic things, and I’d like to learn more about the most useful terms to understand more complex compositions or to create my own, especially for 2D animation.For example, I want to give an effect a limited time, and then make it come back later in the same layer. Or I want a loop to also have a time or frame limit. I’m not sure if I’m explaining this well, English is not my first language 😞I know basic things like how to make a loop and add effects, simple things like -loopOut("cycle")-, which applies for the whole time of the animation.So I tried looking for a glossary in After Effects, but after reading to understand some terms, I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. I’d like to understand the order in which expressions should be written, and what the difference is between setting a time limit and a frame limit in a composition.I’d really appreciate any help, especially if someone has a glossary

Hello AE community, I've been working on AE since more than 10 years now and have never encountered an issue like this. There was an issue on one of my projects regarding keylight a couple of months back and I had to do with another keying effect on it. However, post that Keylight seems to be missing from my effects altogether. I've tried everything from re-installing to moving the plugin folder in the Applications but nothing seems to work. Have attached a couple of screengrabs for reference. Has anyone else encountered such an issue? What's the fix for it? I'm running on an Intel MacOS and the latest version of AE if that helps. Highly appreciate any help. Thanks a ton in advance!

I tried pasting unicode Indian Language fonts in After effects CC 2020, and also copying and pasting from text programs, but they are all displayed wrong.According to previous solution for this problem, these are the steps suggested - 1. Go to Preferences>Type2. Select ‘South Asian and Middle Eastern’ in ‘Text Engine’3. Select ‘Indic’ in ‘Languages Selection’But in CC 2020 Version, there is no ‘Languages Selection’ option in Preferences>Type.So I can't change the formatting of my Indian language fonts to 'Indic' - which is required for correct displaying of Indian Unicode fonts. Please help me.This option was available in previous versions of After effects as specified in the article link below - https://blogs.adobe.com/creativedialogue/video/create-text-layers-in-indian-languages/

Hi! I have a lower third and need to export it as a .mogrt to use in Premiere Pro. The responsive time/protected regions works perfect in After Effects, but when I export it as a mogrt and import it to Premiere, it does'nt work.. it's like it doesn't maintain the protected regions.Has anyone the same issue and know how to fix it?

why does the blend mode option go away when you make a layer 3d? is that on purpose? or a glitch? I Dont remember having this issue in After Effects 2023. i'm running AE 24.6.1 (Build 2)

Hi, So I'm trying to make an edit on Alvin and the Chipmunks and I'm using the tracking feature but motion tile effect isn't working. Like it'll mirror the clip, but the mirrored clip will be too far away for it to look good instead of having these black bars in my video. I don't want to scale my video up so much to fix the issue because then the edit will look bad.I'm using Ae 2025, I'm on pcGPU: Mercury GPU Acceleration (OpenCL)CPU: 100% CPU for AeRAM: Total is 8 GB, 1.5 GB for other applications, 6 GB for Ae, Multi-Frame Rendering is onOS: IDK how to check

Hi, I'm trying to make an edit and I put on tracking but for some reason when I try to cache it, it just uncaches and goes in a loop. Are there any fixes for this? 

Hello, I am very new to AE, so please excuse my lack of background. I do have some familiarity with Premier Pro.I would like to draw a line that traces the movement of an object in a still frame, much like in this video:https://youtu.be/GSRYaz1gJWs?t=3m47sI have some overhead drone footage of me holding a marker and walking in a spiral. I would like to animate a line that follows the marker, ending up with a drawing of my movement. I have got as far as motion tracking the marker. I'd like to do something like converting those keyframes into a shape path that I can then animate. I'd like to avoid having to trace the path manually if possible, as I've got a few of these to do. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA

Hello, I have been having trouble with AE 25 ever since it came out where the video playback is incredibly laggy, even with the simplest animation. (Video attached.) I've tried clearing my cache and about every other setting trick. I have never had this issue with any other version of AE (2024 or before). I've been using AE24 in the meantime but would really like to update to AE25 to better integrate my workflow. But this bug remains a problem and makes the program unusable.System info    Application: After Effects v25.2.2.2    OS: macOS v14.0.0, RAM: 64.00 GB GB, CPUs (logical): 12

Hi,I am having trouble with the extensions panel in AE - It doesn't expand when hovered over, and therefore I can't use my installed plugins. All other menu panels work as normal. I am using a MacBook Pro with an M1 Pro Chip, MacOS 12.6, and v22.6 of AE. So far I have tried:Restarting After Effects and my MacReinstalling AEDowngrading AE to previous versionsRemoving the plugins and reinstalling them As you can imagine this is rather annoying. Any suggestions would be massively welcome. 

Iv created a .mov quick time rgb alpha file in after effects that is supposed to have a transparent background in webflow however when I loads the file in Background Video the background displayed is black with the red square in the center. Is it possible to make a transparent background in webflow using quicktime .mov file in Background Video.     

I'm new to Boris AE. When I open it, the track option buttons (trans, scale etc) are unresponsive. From the effect controls panel, if I choose 'create track data', I have no available layers to choose from. I've ensured I've selected the layer I want to track. I've tried:-different projects and comps, and with different footage-using it on mov, mp4 and precomps layers-clearing caches (both boris AE and AE itself) I've ensured that the comp's timecode is 0:00, and that the footage matches the comp. Software and OS are both up to date. I'm on a Mac Studio with M4 Max chip, running Sequoia 15.5 AE is version 25.2.2 (Build 2).  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am trying to control the opacity of layers using the luma value of sample from beneath it in another comp, but it's not capturing the full spectrum from 0 (Black) to 1 (White).My setup looks like this:Main Comp - COIN_STYLE_DITHERControl Comp - COIN (Contains a 10 step gradient from black to white)40 x TILE_X Comps distributed across X, each with 10 x COLOR layers ('COLOR_X') that should turn on and off depending on what luma value is sampled from beneath it in the main comp.My issue is it's combining steps of the gradient and only mapping from 0 - 0.443 Brightness.I want every gradient band to a new colour appear over it so that 10 Colour layers map to 10 gradient bands.I know sampleimage isn't supposed to be used in this way but I thought it would work, any help would be appreciated!mainComp = comp("COIN_STYLE_DITHER"); tileName = thisComp.name; // e.g. TILE_01 mainTile = mainComp.layer(tileName); // Convert center of tile to main comp space (assuming 50x50px size)

I have some text with keyframes to change position from off screen to center, then scale up 3x with hold keyframes. When I add Pixel Motion Blur, it breaks the positioning, showing the text near the center, though the bounding box still follows the correct route. Hi, im working on a 6400 by 1800 comp and when i try to use camera tracker, it wotks the first time, but after that it just stuck at initializing.The only workarround that i've founded is to close the program and delete all adobe related process from task manager, but that is not ok when i have more than 20 shots. Any ideas? thanks! PC Specs:R7 2700X48gb of RAM2080 Super GPU

Hello everyone. I m trying to create a parameter with 2 or 3 dimension. Actually just like the scale parameter. I tried to create it with PF_ADD_POINT, but it does not work by default with 3 dimension. How to specify that i want three dimensions? I did not fine any revelant field in paramDef.u.td... the other problem is that i want to have %, can I specify % in the display parameter of point? I also wold like to set the precision of my field. I would like to be able to link my paremeter naturally to a transform scale. Wich succeed with a point parameter when we are in 2D, but fails when you swap to 3D layer... any ideas?

There's a gap of variable size when the end meets the beginning. I can't get the speed just right. I'm moving the camera from left to right, slowing down at each character. Pre-comose the whole thing, then putting one copy next to the other.I'm fairly amateur at AE and I'm grateful for any help.
