After Effects

Hi all,I'm trying to import a psd file as a composition and AE keeps loading a different file from the same folder - I tried saving my file with a new name in a different folder and AE just picked a different wrong file to load. I'm not sure if I'm being clear. AE loads/creates a new composition with the correct file name, I have the same file open in PS just to confirm, but the contents of the file, i.e., the layers, are from a different PSD file that I've got saved in that same folder.Any idea why this is happening and how I can stop it?Thanks!

Hi there, my current issue is that when I export after effects files over to media encoder to be processed to mp4 files it would not load. Above is a sample of a single part being rendered and stuck at 1.12 minutes for over 5 hours. Most of my other AE files do not do this and only this file has this issue.  For reference, these are my specs1920X1080 P 60FPSH.264 or Quicktime (apple pro res 422)Plug-ins used (vc orb)License is school license as this is provided by them for intern use, coms specs (in case someone says my com is bad)pc- 64gb ram, ryzen 5 5600x and rtx 3080)Laptop- (16gb ram, intel i7-7700k and gtx 1050) Both platforms experience the same issue and I have been troubleshooting for a while. If anyone knows how to troubleshoot this pls help!   

Hello guys,I recently started a new project and i have to use a lot of spotlights, but my problem is, when i have more than 8 spotlights, the last one (lowest) in my timeline doesn't work. I don't notice anything if I turn it off or on. Please help me.

I have an AE file with a bunch of missing links... is there a way to view what the filepath is currently set as like I can with InDesign?   I know I can replace links, but it would be helpful to know where AE is trying to pull the links from in the first place

With either the menu selection Edit->Split Layer or the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-Shift-D (Windows) I cannot split a layer.  The shortcut will sometimes do nothing and sometimes duplicat

i've noticed ae crashing more recently, and after reading the an online guide have picked up on some mistakes that likely led to that (mp4 files), but for the last 3 days every time i try to open the program this happens. i can't even enter the app to make changes, it literally crashes immediately. any advice? i cannot figure it out for the life of me and i am desperate 🙏

Been trying to add a shadow to my tracked 3d object with no success. The 3d file format is GLB and is animated. Here is are the views of my compositions: (I realised an odd thing is that the shadow does finally appear only when the model & solid is within the confines of the "white" box on the left composition view as seen above.) I tried to restart my scene from scratch, however no matter what i do i can't get it within the confines. I've attached images of my layer order and settings(top to down), please tell me if there are any issues: Overall, I don't know if it's a bug problem or something but all I know is that I'll truly appreciate any support to help fix this problem! Hello, I am new to After Effects, I created a lower third third that had an animated and multi-colored rectangle on my name; however, the rectangle and my name are not showing up after I transfer the Mogrt to Premiere Pro. The text for my second and third lines (I have to add a third line) show in Premiere Pro, and I can see my name and the box in the preview screen in Premiere Pro, but the box and my name won't show in the program window. What am I doing wrong?  

Hi. I had an issue about composition panel in After Effects. It happened after windows update several months ago. When I use the app with Nvidia gpu for high perf, the view port disappears. But after switch it to intel it works. I checked the update history, there was intel update amont others. I wonder how it affects nvidia and how can solve the problem

Hey gang—I am having an issue on my renders (see attached image). I know this has to do with the technique I'm using, but this is a new issue and I suspect some sort of setting got messed up during an update. I'm taking jpg sequences, and the shots are kind of related, also kind of not; I change the frame blending to pixel motion, enable time remapping and stretch the length to about 1000%. The effect is quite dreamy and strange, which I like, and it works perfectly in the comp viewer, but when I render it out, I get the attached image. I've tried using Animation and all the ProRes varients. AE 25.2.2MacOS 13.7 on a 16" 2019 5600M 

Hello. I´m trying to export my camera and some locators to after effects and the resulting scene seems to suffer from offset of a wrong camera. I don´t know if i am doing something wrong but i´ve followed the instrucctions i´ve seen everywhere with no succes. Even Maya live link is failing. I have a 1920x1080 maya scene (the same in AE), i create some planes, one camera, set its Fil Aspect Ratio to 1.778, render from Arnold and then i try to import the camera via .ma files, .fbx (via FBX to AE plugin) and AE Live Link, and i always get the same result, the planes are not in position. This is driving me crazy. Can anyone help me please? Thanks! I guess it has to be with the scene scale or some camera setting that im not able to recognize yet...

Hallo zusammen,seit letztem Freitag habe ich im Geschäft einen neuen PC erhalten, da ich mehrere Projekte bekommen habe, bei denen ich mit After Effects und Premiere Pro Videos erstellen soll. Der PC läuft auf Windows 11 und hat aktuell 16 GB RAM, was laut meinem Chef im Grafikbereich eine übliche und verbreitete Standardgröße sei. Ich war allerdings der Meinung, dass das für meine Anforderungen nicht ausreicht, da ich durchgehend eine Arbeitsspeicherauslastung von 80–90 % habe. Nach einigem Überzeugen wird der RAM diese Woche noch aufgerüstet. Leider hat der PC nur zwei RAM-Slots, aber gut – damit muss ich arbeiten. Die Grafikkarte ist eine Nvidia 4070 Ti, und der Studio-Treiber ist auf dem neuesten Stand.Nun zu meinem Problem: Auch wenn 16 GB nicht viel sind, sollte der PC doch kleinere Renderaufgaben bewältigen können, oder? Bei einer einfachen Komposition ist jedoch gar nichts möglich. My After Effects is crashing all the time, I click to edit a text and It crashes. I try to open the file again and it crashes abou 10 or 20 times before i can open it again. After upgrading from MacOS 13 to MacOS 14 Sonoma on iMac20,2 yesterday, After Effects (24.2.1) freezing while opening project files. I can see that files are being loaded in Project window, then Render Queue loads list with recently rendered comps, and it freezes (sometimes at 78, 98 or 99%). 1) I tried to reboot;2) tried to open in safe mode;3) I tried to reset preferences ( helped with opening one project that was freezing before, but didn't help with other projects I tried to open later, even after resetting preferences multiple times).4) uninstalled and installed AE 24.2.1 The only workaround is to import old project file in new project.

Hello, I been trying to fix this bug for multiple days where when trying to use element 3D my 3D text would just bug out and start flashing the 2D text white and in general bug out. Ive tried using media encoder, and the built in rendering for after effects. Im running on the latest version of after effects and media encoder. I attached a video to show the bug in action.  

My PC is very old and has a very weak GPU and CPU. I can not use AE tools in my pc. I'm sorry but i didn't find better forum to ask this question. Now I want to create videos similar to this one: https://youtube.com/shorts/WZZXM3xAoi0  Can anyone tell me how I can easily create a video like this? I mean a floating phone from a top view that is ringing (with sound and animation). If possible, I’d like to create this type of video using Android apps like CapCut or any other mobile-friendly tools. Any help or tutorial recommendation would be really appreciated! 

Hello, I've been having issues with compositing motion graphics into a cinema 4d render. I've placed a null object into my final scene as a reference for where I want my graphics to be attached to in after effects, you can see this displayed as the 'cube' in my screenshots - this null object has a external compositing tag on it. There is a morph camera that provides the camera move for the scene (this has had its keyframes baked) I was given a image sequence final render of the scene which was rendered in corona, and as previously discussed I have the scene file that correpsonds to that render. (Just to clarify, the corona render + scene file perfectly match up, there hasn't been any accidental move of the camera. My problem is when I import the camera's and null objects, through cineware or even an AEC export into After Effects, the reference null is in a wrong position compared to how it set it in my cinema scene I'm sure I'm using the correct imported camera too. As you ca

I hope I'm wrong, but after 5h of investigation, C-GPT and me gave up on this. As far as it looks, it is not possible to organize shape layer content via script? I've tried duplicate() and another recreational approach (duplicate would be best as my content has expressions) but it seems impossible. for-loops keep breaking after the first successful duplication, throwing an alert that the object from the duplicate line was invalid. GPT says that the "invalid object" is a common bug when operating inside shape layer content and that duplicating, removing or sorting of shape content is just not possible. I do hope that there's a way though, as I've always preferred a single-layer workflow for shapes whenever possible so I can quickly import them as animation presets + they don't clutter up comps. This works fine in most cases, but if I want to dynamically generate content - tables, diagrams etc. - into these templates, with various amounts of the same thing, I need ExtendSc

i really want to download and use after effects 2021 as it is the last version compatable with my plugins/cc. is there any way i can get this legit? i tried looking it up but all the websites offering it looked mad sketchy and i want to be sure im getting the REAL one, not a cracked one or one with malware lol.
