After Effects

So recently AE has started needing to completely redo the whole ram prieview with any small change in the timeline. (including audio) It's painfully awful. I move 1 keyframe on a shape layer and eveything has to load into ram preview again, EVERYTHING. Over and over with any small change. It never used to do this. I've been using After Effects for 13 years professionally. I know my way around it well. Why is it doing this and how do I make it stop? I've tried everything i can think of from resetting preferences to disabling plug-ins. I'm runing the most recent version on a Powerfull PC. Latest version, all drivers and windows up to date. 

Hello, Iam trying to use an extension for After Effects I have installed properly (used aescripts for it).However, When i Launch Affter Effects and i go to Windows and go for Extensions, it is greyed out and not clickable. I tried to restart in debug mode, empty cache, check the versions, nothing seems to work, and I didn't find an exact answer on internet. Thanks a lot !  

Hi all,   I'm using adobe after effects cs3, and sometimes I get the error message as show on the red line at the lower section of my image in my attachment  image file which reads:"Refresh Disabled(release Caps Lock to refresh view)"This error message actually affects some actions my after effects project.Please, does anyone know how I can solve this problem or how to  "release Caps Lock to refresh view "Thanks and hope some can helpUgoharris.

Hi,I am using AE 15.1.1 (build 12) on a Windows 10 machine (specs at the bottom).I've created a simple composition with just a camera layer (all default settings) and a text layer set as 3D.When using the 2 Views - Horizontal layout, the right view is showing fine as Active Camera. The left view is completely blank (picture below). The parameters beneath the views do change when I click between the two views, but there is nothing on the left side: no blue corner triangles, no description of the camera view angle (Top), nothing.This has happened previously and restarting AE helped that time. It was working until I restarted AE again and now the left view is missing again. This is definitely a noob question, and I am STUCK with my plugin development. Here's the very basic idea of what I'm trying to achieve. - Layer 1: Keyed/Roto'ed footage- Apply plugin- It's as if Layer 1 is duplicated, and the 'back' layer has a Gaussian blur on it. How do you do that in an AE plugin? I think glow plugins are like this. You're not really affecting the input footage-- that stays as is, but you are affecting a copy of that footage and then comping it over/under it. 😬 Thanks!

Hi, my timeline doesn't show time in seconds , it happened today, I've already tried to Ctrl+click on timecode , checked it in project settings, composition setting and display in preferences,  I don't know what to do , it is so annoying

Hi, at the moment I am learning the basic principles of animation in AE, and I have encountered a problem. In any composition with animation that I have created, the CTRL+ALT shortcut for creating a bezier curve directly in the composition window does not work, and the "Move across time" button is also blocked, but as soon as I open other people's compositions, everything works. I don't quite understand what the problem could be, maybe someone  encountered something similar? Even the vertex transform tool works exclusively in the diagram editor.  I would be very grateful if anyone could help!  

I am having a problem where everytime I try to importat a Photoshop file as a Comp, it crashes.  I am import the same files as footage and they import fine.  It happens every time with all verisons of AE 22, up to 22.1.1.  The project it creates as a result of the crash as the comp created form the PS file, but nothing in it.   I have attached the crash warning.  anyone else seen this or found a solution?  My workaround it to importat each layer individually as footage.  Thanks,Scott

Hi there, the following behaviour has happened to me a few times the last days.I have an EXR Cryptomatte image sequence that works fine for the most part. The issue is that one specific frame shows black, as if the Cryptomatte effect is not affecting it.File size of that spefic frame is correct and it opens in photoshop normally -via Exr-IO pluging etc.AE, drivers, Windows and Mac (problem persists on both OS) are updated.Things I've tried:I imported that single frame -not as a sequence- and it works and acts fine (in fact I'm using this as the way to solve this issue, but it's a pain)I have tried replacing that frame with another one from the sequence (copied and renamed) and the problem persists -so it's not the actual frame it seems.Also tried with previous version of AE, problem persists.Thanks in advance for any help

If so where could i find it?If it's something custom, is there an tutorial for it? i don't know what it is called so i couldn't find it. How can i recreate it? I tried to make it by parenting the logo to null object and keyframing it in 3D Space but it's good and not even close to the one in example.

Hi, I dnt understand something. I want a mask path (I masked a text) to follow a shape layer's path. so That I dnt need to create multiple keyframes. but the text mask path changes its position the moment I whip it with the rectangle's path keyframes. I want the animation to be same, red rectangle will reveal and simultaneously the text mask will reveal another text beneath (white text,) . so long I created keyframes for two layers. one rectangle path and the mask path. Then Suddenly I think why dnt I use expression. I can use expression to link one's path with another. right? But as usual I failed. 😣 please help me. please 😥 no way I can insert gif or any images. weird       

I've read multiple posts here over recent years complaining about the working performance when using .csv files and I'm still experiencing those issues in AE 25.0.1 (and AE 24.6.3 too). I inherited a project that is using some expressions to pull in the csv data into some essential graphics comps. The problem is so bad I'm about to scrap this entire project and rebuild it using an aescript plugin and not touch csv's again. Are there any other workarounds or updates coming soon that may help? My setup:Recent Windows 11 Intel/nvidia PC workstation that works perfectly in any other AE/C4D project. CSV (exported from a spreadsheet) that is less than 20kb. I don't touch or update the csv while AE is open. In the Essential Graphics comps my frame render time is around 200ms. In my main comp that has just that same EG comp and a precomp of the csv text data (that is freeze framed) has a frame render time of ~5 seconds. Performance in this project is generally slow (click and wait +1 seco

 I don't quite understand from which axes are the rotation values in the timeline panel of a 3D layer measured? I used to think that the Z rotation is measured from the normal vector of the layer, and X and Y rotations from the X and Y axes in the plane of the layer and mutually perpendicular to the normal vector. But this experiment (linked video) shows otherwise.In the experiment above, I changed the Y rotation value first, but upon changing the X rotation value the layer doesn't seem to rotate about the transformed X axes (which was transformed due to the Y rotation), rather it rotates about the X axes parallel to the comp's X axis. I'm certainly missing something.GPT told something like rotation values are calculated in an order. Always x first, y second, and then z, and that's the reason why the final result looks like this. That even though you've made the x rotation after the Y rotation it would still be calculated as x first then y. I sure can't trust that though.

 Issue - I created a new comp within a file to play around with video color. When I clicked back to the original composition, I got the error as seen in the screenshot. I cannot continue, and am essentially forced to close AE. Opening that comp at all results in the same error. Steps to reproduce - I am not sure what caused this issue. This was weird. I was trying to rememeber where to set my default output module, and while in Preferences > Output I noticed "Enable ProRes hardware accelerated encoding, if available." First off, Adobe, how about removing the "ifs" and instead only enable this option if hardware accelerated encoding is available? Is ProRes hardware encoding available on this computer? I don't know, but After Effects knows.  After enabling the option, I was told to restart After Effects.Upon relaunching After Effects, the app told me I was using Adobe products on other computers and that I needed to sign out of one of them first. It also offered me a link to click to manage my account. Ok, not true, but Ok... click the link but Safari warns the server does not exist.
